  1. I dont think anyone can classify a team that is outside the top 10 as being a really good team anymore. The past few years it seems that 2 or 3 teams are "top tier" and then it gets jumbled.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 11:05 PM) OMG, Gruden and Jaworski have managed to slurp Brees EVEN MORE after his stupid pick-six. This is unbearable. Matty Ice has been said a billion times, and they've used every positive adjective known to mankind in describing Brees. I cant stand Tirico. The guy makes so many mistakes its not even funny.
  3. Air Force is wearing some really awesome uniforms tonight.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) Which is why they won't make the playoffs unless the Giants and Packers lose next weekend. They'd also have to win. Their strength of victory is terrible. If Atlanta wins tomorrow night then the Bucs need to win at NO and have only of of either the Packers or Giants lose.
  5. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 24, 2010 -> 05:13 AM) The problem is what it could lead to down the road. What will stop a player from selling something (that isn't worth much) to a booster for a ton of money? A booster could say "Oh, I'd love to buy that Championship ring from you for $50,000." But in reality, it's worth nowhere near that, and the booster is really just looking for a way to pay that player. If the NCAA allows players to sell their stuff b/c "it's the players' property" then they wouldn't be able to stop the above situation from happening. I think it's a s***ty situation, but if you give the players an inch, they'll take a mile. If they received fair market value for whatever they were selling, I think I wouldn't have a problem with it. But there is no way to enforce them receiving "fair market value." Which is why these kids cant really get jobs. It would turn into what those Oklahoma players were doing at the car dealership. In reality the NCAA isnt the devils but it's the boosters who ruin it for everyone.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 24, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) Mechanics may not be the thing that has held vince young back, as much as "desire". Anyway...Arizona. If I was the Niners I would love for that to happen. Then they could draft Mallet. I wonder what team Todd McShay will be able to talk into drafting Jake Locker way too high.
  7. I think Carolina has to take Luck and tell Clausen it's been real.
  8. I think this is a Steelers or no play pick tonight regarding the sides. I'm not confident in Carolina getting more than 10 points. If I took the game I would probably take the under. I could see a Pittsburgh winning a 24-7, 24-10 type game.
  9. I'm surprised they are allowed to play in the Sugar Bowl. If I was OSU, I'd rather them miss this meaningless game and have them come back in time for the Big 10 opener. I wonder if the NCAA is making OSU pay for some of Auburn's "crime". Someone has to be made an example of and the NCAA probably doesnt want to ruin the BCS title game.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 10:03 PM) Apparently I am the only person interested in this game Utah looks horrible, despite Herbie's insisting that they dominated the first quarter. This game is going to get ugly quickly. Utah is lucky that Boise is so sloppy tonight. Utah sucked before losing their starting QB so them doing nothing on offense isnt shocking.
  11. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 12:28 AM) Let's not go crazy here. Losing to a middle of the pack Big East team because they played their worst half of the year isn't going to kill them. Everything still depends on what happens in conference play. It's killed Virginia Tech the past 2 seasons. It's a big loss because NW isnt going to have a good OOC win now. Northwestern better do really well in B10 play because if they are borderline then not playing a quality OOC is going to sink them.
  12. I wonder if this will help Alabama to land Dee Hart. Alabama to pay school $50 an hour to Dr Phillips High School to use fields during the Citrus Bowl preparations. Plus Alabama will pay for upgrades to football team's locker rooms and practice fields. http://www.wftv.com/video/26166791/index.html
  13. I wonder how many Euro teams will try to sign the better college players for a season if there is a lockout. Also wont there still be a draft if there is a lockout? I thought that you could still draft a player but not sign anyone.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) My favorite part was calling Toby Gerhart a great cold-weather back. You know, cause he went to Stanford and is from SoCal. Maybe they were referring to his running style and how it translate in cold, sloppy conditions?
  15. QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 08:46 PM) Bears fast defense on a slick surface. Seen this act before. I think it's going to be like this for both defenses tonight. It looked like the Bears were playing on ice. This game screams of one last great performance for Favre.
  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 01:35 AM) I don't understand the Texans. They have quality players on their team. It's not like they suck. They need to put the full court press on Cowher this offseason. There are some coaches who should only be coordinators and Kubiak is one of them.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 11:34 PM) If the Packers can beat the Giants and then the Bears can beat the Packers, then Tampa still has a chance. That's assuming that the Giants would also lose their last game and the Bucs win out. I believe the Giants have the best in-conference record right now and the Packers and Bucs are both 6-4. It's a long shot, but it's possible. Oh its a long shot and the only chance is how you described it since TB has no chance to beat out anyone when it comes to the strength of victory tiebreaker. I just want this team to get to 9 wins now. We're so depleted on defense and the offensive line that we should get blown out by the Saints. Dont want to sound like I'm making excuses for this team but we're just too young and not talented enough right now to overcome all of that. No matter what, it's probably been the most fun I've had following a team during their season since the 2005 Sox.
  18. couldnt have happened to a better set of fans. F OFF NY
  19. Congrats to the NFL on screwing the Bucs out of a TD and basically eliminating from any chance of playing in the playoffs. Gotta make sure either the Giants or Eagles get that final wild card spot
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 05:12 PM) I just hope it means the Raiders have a better chance of covering 6.5 tomorrow. Apparently the public thinks so, as the line is up to 7.5 now... did you middle it?
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 05:21 PM) Jameer Nelson disagrees. Nelson is lucky that he's Dwight's best friend. His ass would have been shipped a long time ago if he wasnt.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 02:35 AM) Is it bad that I hope Tim Tebow never sees an NFL field again? No but I feel bad about hoping he's a total bust of a QB. He does seem like a good guy and it's not his fault the media has a hard on for him. I guess I'm not rooting against him, more like rooting against everyone who has been swinging from his nuts.
  23. The star system is really a joke. Some has to do with subscription sales for teams sites on the rivals database. Some has to do with location of player. And then some has to do with who is offering the kid. I remember Frankie Hammond being offered by Miami when he had no stars because no one knew who he was. A few weeks later, he commits to Florida and somehow jumps to 4 stars. Also there are a lot of 3 star Florida kids who are way better than kids from other states who have higher star ratings. The offer listing is probably a better way to gauge recruiting prospects but even that has holes. These kids know how to play the game too. If a kid has real offers from Sun Belt or MAC schools, he might say a BCS team has offered him in hopes of getting schools from the WAC,C-USA,etc to offer him.
