Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays ALCS Thread

just got back from the game. left at 4pm and got home at 230 am. Get to the stadium and start walking the mile to the dome. Halfway there I'm texting a friend and not paying attention then WHAM! I fall down after stepping in a pothole. Heard a snap but I get up and I continue to limp the half mile to the park. Of course we're on the wrong side of the stadium so more limping. Then I limp all the way up to row Y in the upper deck. Game starts, fun as hell. Very loud. Ankle starts to swell up. Game over so I start my limping back to the car. Takes forever to get back to the car. Drive about 45 minutes and I cant move my toes anymore. Pull over for medicine. So I get home and take off my socks and my ankle looks like a black and blue tennis ball. Def. broken. Atleast I'll get a week off or so from work. Hopefully the swelling goes down by Wed. and I win tickets to game 1. Worse part of the day was when I fell and my cell fell out of my hand. Now my Dare has a scratch mark on the screen. I'm more pissed about that than anything else. PS---I'm so jealous of all you guys who got to go to those games in 2005. I like the Rays b/c they are close and I want them to win now that the Sox are out but I can only imagine what it would be like to see my favorite team playing in games like this. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 18, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) Haha I think my high school team could have lost by 35 in a half. Stopped every time and given up a TD every time. This is completely not real. Even for not showing up this is not real. Time to hear all the Texas is so, so good talk because they beat a Mizzou team that didn't show up. sounds like an excuse. -

looks like Missouri was a fraud. they better find a defense if they ever want to be a serious national contender. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 11:40 AM) Got home, turned on Big Ten Network and saw the end of Iowa/LSU and Tate's hail mary. That was awesome watching Live. Couldn't believe what I saw. I was at that game sitting on the Iowa side, around the 15 yard line of the endzone with the score. Everyone who wasnt a LSU fan in the Citrus Bowl was going nuts. -

I'm expecting big things from Miami this year. I can see a top 4 finish in the ACC this season. -

Boston wont be taking 2 games in Tampa. I dont trust either Beckett or Lester right now. I have tickets to game 7 if needed but I dont think it'll get to a 7th game. -

most dominating playoff series I've seen in a long, long time. Kinda funny the people who picked Boston in 5 and we see the complete opposite. -

down 3-0 after one in Montreal, the Bruins came back only to lose in a SO. Really good to see Boston battle back and not just roll over against our arch enemies. -

Pierre is making the most of his opportunity tonight. Kemp might be the odd one out for the rest of the series. -

why not do a pooch kick to the 20 or so if youre scared to kick it deep. Unless there is 1 second left in the game, you should never squib it. I'm a Bucs fan and I really wanted the Bears to beat a NFC South foe. Ugh. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 11, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) And neither is Illinois. Give it up. That was an embarrassing loss by a team that isn't as good as people thought. This is what happens when you have Zook as a HC. -
really nice how the put Griffey and Thome together. The trade wasnt anything great but we got to see a special player roaming our outfield even if he's on the downside of his career. That doesnt happen very often.

big road win for the Bruins tonight. Nice to see Ryder finding the net. Hopefully he can become a 30 goal scorer again. -
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 09:33 PM) I suppose it depends on what their goal was to start the year. If I'm a Rays fan however, and their goal isn't to win the World Series, I am dissapointed in my team. the Rays have never won more than 70 games in a season. Of course everyone wants to win a WS but lets be real here.

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 09:08 PM) I guess it depends on your perspective and expectations. I fully expected this team to be very competetive in this division, and I thought the division would be much better overall. So I don't see winning the AL Central as some odds defying accomplishment. I mean this was a team with a $120 M payroll and a veteran core of players. I would hope they'd be able to compete in this sad sack AL Central. It was a good season. They won the division, but it was the 2nd worst division in baseball. They were also regularly outplayed by other good teams and we could make an argument that there were two other AL teams that were better than the White Sox who didn't make the playoffs (Toronto and the Yanks). It was nice to find some young players but this team is still very old and getting older. I'm not really seeing how it's going to get better next season. what a shocker.... all season you bagged this team saying how horrible they were and they still won the division and you still cant bring yourself to praise them.

I want a Rays/Dodgers series. I'd like to see the Rays win b/c they deserve it and it would be a nice story. I'd like to see LA win it so Torre can give a big FU to the Yankees.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 08:49 PM) I know I am not alone in this weird and calm happiness. Still surprises me to see everyone feeling the same way right now. we played our World Series last Sunday,Monday and Tuesday. We all wanted to get to the ALCS but we knew we were up against it after gutting our starting pitching to get here. Plus flawed teams are suppose to make it this far.

guess they can make 9=4 shirts now.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) I think I was more frustrated when the Sox lost meaningless games in July than I am now. hard to be mad when there is no tomorrow. I'm sad right now.
