Bourjos and Trumbo available for pitching

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 07:03 PM) I think we need Conger more than those 2 but I'd like all 3. What is with your Hank Conger infatuation? Is he really good defensively? -

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 05:46 PM) I know you like Indy guys, Sabin and Daniels are boring. They'd never fit into WWE. Also bring in Velvet, for me. I rarely have watched TNA so I can't touch on how they've performed lately (Daniels has gotta be in his 40's so I wouldn't be shocked if he lost a step) but back in the day they were both really entertaining. Sabin isn't the main eventer that I guess TNA tried to make him but on a mid card level he can be solid. Another invasion storyline would be fantastic. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) Saw TNA is for sale. Carter's want out. Thought Eric may try and buy it. Loads different than where wcw was in 01 though. Vince should put in $1 million offer. Bring in Joe, AJ, Roode, Aries, Sabin, Daniels and Angle. -
With Abreu Signing; Konerko Not Out

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 02:10 PM) To be fair, I was saying, IF Abreu can play left. If he can't then by no means go that route. I don't think making him split duty between DH and 1B is dicking him around too much. I'm still thinking of ways to improve the trade via trade and one option is packaging Viciedo and Beckham, don't u think? That's a pretty great post with the Griffey analogy. Yes, sir. I agree you are right there. That could definitely happen. That would be sad. But I just have a feeling Paulie's troubles are health related and I really have the feeling he wants to give it a shot again. I mean if he hit .280 instead of between .240 and .250 we wouldn't even be having this discussion. If he still has a burning desire to play, this should be very interesting. The easy thing for Paulie to do in this give-everybody-a-trophy, cut and dried what-have-you-done-for-me-lately society would be to quit now. But he might be stubborn enough to actually put it on the line and give it a shot (if his body is OK). I think we all should predict what will happen. I'm thinking he reluctantly retires right before spring training or signs a 1-year Sox deal or the two year deal I was talking about with the stipulation or the wink-wink that he will retire if he's not feeling right in spring training. I do not think he'll sign with another team, primarily because he's slow as an ox and it could get really ugly with the fans of his new team if he continues to have problems hitting for power. Pinch hitter in Arizona...if that. -

Bourjos and Trumbo available for pitching

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 11:34 AM) Bourjos might legitimately be the best defensive outfielder in the game. We are talking about a guy who could be a comparable player to Carlos Gomez, only way easier to acquire. Ya, I get that, and thats why I included the line about defense. I just don't think they should trade one of their best trade pieces for a defensive upgrade/potential offensive downgrade. -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) Bourjos and Yarbough for Santiago? I wouldn't do Santiago for Bourjos straight up like some suggest here but I'd have to think about Bourjos and Yarbrough, I still might not even do that....Maybe I'm not putting enough emphasis on defense but Bourjos doesn't really excite me at all, not for Santiago anyway....For Rienzo and some mid level guys? Ya, sure. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 09:09 PM) Really random way to bring Punk and Bryan together but I'm intrigued. Ya that should be really good, Wyatts are reallly good IMO. Luke Harper (or Brody Lee) is another guy I saw a lot of in the indies and that guy can work. I hope his gimmick doesn't ruin any sort of singles run in the future. Speaking of reallly good tag teams, glad to see the Real Americans beat the tag champs. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 07:32 PM) Cena and Sandow are having an awesome MITB cash in match. I fully expect Soxfest to hate it Of course, because Cena won....Fantastic match, I fully expect these guys to feud now. For as much hate as Cena gets, when you turn the brightly colored blinders off the dude can go in the ring. He has really improved, he's more than the "4 moves of death" or whatever people labeled him with. -

QUOTE (Lillian @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 07:10 AM) By "potent" I meant that he is a power hitter. However, as I said, he isn't all that great. I don't like either Granderson or Dunn in the middle of the order. Unfortunately, that might be the best that we'll be able to come up with. We saw in 2012 that you can compete with Adam Dunn as your LH middle of the lineup bat. It just so happened that he and Paulie were hurt down the stretch. Dunn is fine, he still "strikes fear" in managers in late game situations vs RHP. There aren't many LH middle of the lineup hitters who will be available.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 07:16 AM) Shawn isn't wrestling outside of Mania, if that. Give me 3 survivor series matches! They have the roster and feuds to go it. Survivor Series is a pretty big PPV and to wrestle his former student it wouldn't shock me, but you're probably right. 3 Survivor Series matches would be pretty sweet. What happened with Kane? A buddy told me he returned but thats all I got out of him. I was waiting around for the fantasy basketball draft that never happened. -

Ya, ppv was pretty weak. I hope we get a HBK vs Bryan match out of it though. For as much as I hate Cena, Cena>ADR so I'm fine with him winning. At least Cena can string a long a half way decent story line. Like another poster suggested I wouldn't be surprised to see a title unification now which would be pretty sweet. Gimme HBK vs Bryan and Orton vs Cena at Survivor Series. -
QUOTE (Lillian @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 03:49 AM) Several of you make good points regarding the need for good hitters, regardless of from which side of the plate they bat. And it is true that there are some rare right handed hitters who actually hit righties better than lefties. Moreover, the whole issue is less important at the top and bottom of the order. However, when focusing upon the middle of the order, it is just not nearly as advantageous to have all right handed hitters. We have discussed that in previous threads. Pitchers can much more easily get into a groove, when facing a lineup consisting of so many guys hitting from the same side of the box. Managers do not have to burn through the bullpen by trying to match relievers to hitters, late in the game. And then, as one of you reiterated one of my previous points, there just aren't that many tough lefties in the American League, especially in our division. Yes, the Sox won it all in '05, with only A. J. and Everett in the middle of the order, and neither of them were that good vs. RHP. However, that team did not win because of its offense. Can any of you honestly argue that it is not important to find at least one potent left handed hitter for the middle of the line up? I suspect that Hahn agrees with my thinking, and that rumors of acquisitions such as Granderson or McCann are precisely based upon the obvious need for a good left handed, middle of the order hitter. Unfortunately, I don't think that either of those guys would be worth the money, or be all that great. Now, if you're talking about giving up your #2 starter, who is cost controlled for a few years, I don't think you do it unless you can get that potent left handed bat. I suspect that yes Hahn is looking for a LHH but you don't limit yourself to that. I like how you mention Granderson as a potent left handed bat but yet you apparently don't think Adam Dunn is that guy. They are virtually the same hitter. Like it or not Adam Dunn is a middle of the lineup bat, he still makes managers "burn through their bullpen".

QUOTE (Lillian @ Oct 27, 2013 -> 09:23 PM) I'm sorry "Jordan", I just can't help myself. Apparently, a good left handed hitter seems to be the most rare and elusive commodity around here. Everyone on this board just keeps clamoring for this guy, or that guy, and they are almost always right handed. Geez!!! It's just frustrating. Garcia, Abreu, Viciedo, Thompson, Hawkins, and they'll probably draft Gatewood (I hope so) If they trade Quintana, it better be for a good left handed bat. Ok. Now I'll "stop already". Man that 05 team was garbage right? Only going into the season with AJ and Pods as the only LH starters, for shame. I don't have their record that year at hand but I bet they didn't contend!! Reality is the Sox need the best hitter they can get regardless of what side of the plate he hits from. I understand the whole "The AL Central is filled with RHP so we need more LH hitters to combat that" but good RH bats hit RHP too. A guy like Brett Lawrie, who has been discussed here, is a RH bat but last year, and in his rookie year(what you hope he turns back to) he actually hit RHP better than he did LHP. The only thing the Sox don't want is a right handed platoon player, one that can only hit LHP

If the Sox truly wanted to rebuild, and they see 3 potential aces in the draft I wouldn't hate it if they got the Cubs to send over their top 4 prospects in return. I haven't really seen the signs of a full rebuild though, and our insiders here don't suggest that either.
