  1. You've really gotta question whether Reed was tired down the stretch. 3 of his 8 blown saves happened in the final month, and his ERA going into the 2nd to last game in August was a more than respectable 3.08. Couple those 3 blown saves in what may have been a "Dead arm period" with the whole Beckham f*** up that cause another and that 84% doesn't look that bad.
  2. New ADTR is soooo solid. Common Courtesy>>>>>What Separates Me from You.
  3. In my dub flex league I need some opinions on picking 2.... Zac Stacey vs Carolina Le'veon Bell vs Baltimore Chris Johnson vs San Fran Joesph Randle vs Eagles Leaning towards Stacey and Randle here. also With Julio Jones out, and Roddy White getting a week off to "heal up" is it finally time to expect something good out of him? Would you start him over Steve Smith or one of my new favs Keenan Allen?
  4. I'm friends with Reddy on fb but I don't think we've ever talked since he tried to get me back into the whole beachbody thing. From what I can tell we have a lot of pretty rad people here that I wouldn't mind meeting up with, but I don't know how to "get to that point" with people I've never met in person. Someone mentioned a softball game, do you guys do that annually? I'd be interested.
  5. Damnit, you guys got me thinking about a potential 2016 lineup of... 1. Micah Johnson 2B L 2. Marcus Semien SS R 3. Joc Pederson CF L 4. Jose Abreu 1B R 5. Avisail Garcia RF R 6. Corey Seager 3B L 7. Dayan Viceido DH R 8. Alejandro De Aza LF L 9. Catcher McGee C 5 of #3 draft pick, Jose Quintana, Eric Johnson, Hector Santiago, Chris Beck, Chris Bassit, Julio Urias, Tyler Danish, Andre Reinzo, other break out pitchers. the bullpen with Kenley Janson, Nate Jones, Daniel Webb, and Chris Withdrow as the RH bullpen guys. Reed and few SPs can be traded to upgrade catcher, LH bullpen arms, and maybe ADA/Tank if they haven't really played like we hope. With the board dead it doesn't hurt to think about.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 03:27 PM) Yeah, I have MJD in one of my leagues and Chris Johnson in another (both are RB2). The commentary on these two players is that they suck, are hardly playable anymore. They are a f***-ton better than any of the FA options out there as well as some of the guys I had picked up as potential backups throughout the season (Michael Bush, Shonn Greene, Ben Tate, Shane Vereen). Trading for Giovani Bernard has given me some depth in one league, but he has hardly outproduced them. I think it is just a shallow position. Might have to re-evaluate what a RB2 looks like. Sigh, I remember when I was so adamant in saying Chris Johnson would return to his former self with the upgrades they made on the line. Got him in my money league and one other...At least the main guy I was arguing with was the same guy who was talking up Ryan Mathews
  7. After watching all the great pitching in the playoffs I would be highly disappointed if the Sox trade Sale. This on the basis of what bucket said about the Sox not punting on 2014. IF the Sox want to rebuild I suppose it wouldn't be the worst idea I've heard. Trading Sale puts them at least 2 or 3 years away which, if that's what they wanna do then fine, I won't like it but whatever. The deal would have to be more than the rumored Price deal of Joc Pederson, Corey Seager, Julio Urias, and Chris Withdrow. That's a huge package, which I'd love to have but I'd have to get back at least 1 more certainty in the deal, probably looking at Kenley Jansen here. I would have to really, really consider that deal. An OF with Pederson, Garcia, and hopefully Viceido would be incredibly intriguing. A Seagar/Semien/Johnson/? infield would be highly intriguing as well. Adding Withdrow and Jansen to the pen with Nate Jones and Daniel Webb, while trading Reed could be fun as well, though they're all right handers. Theoretically speaking that team would be incredibly cheap, if an ace somehow hit the market the Sox would have the funds to sign him, but how often does an ace hit the market? They would really have to bank on getting an ace in this years draft, which with the way the Sox develop pitching it's almost expected. I kinda just talked myself into entertaining the thought, but the whole them not wanting to punt throws a wrench into the whole thing.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 12:25 PM) If Lexi is truly one of the best in the bigs, then the comparison does not hold up at all. De Aza is not one of the best baserunners in the bigs if you just forget the mistakes he made. I was just speaking in "generalities"(quotes for lack of a better word) you can replace the whole "best in the bigs" comment with "good" or at the very least "not garbage" Or let me change the phrasing here. "After reading all the comments on De Aza's base running I'm convinced that a good comparison is Lexi's D. Lexi is a good SS, but some people only see his mistakes and determine he's garbage there, this seems to be the same scenario for De Aza's base running." Better? I'm in the camp of wanting De Aza to stay, or get traded for a good major league piece. I'd love to see the Sox add a better lead off hitter and move ADA down into the 6-7 spot. He's been one of the Sox best hitters with RISP (over and .850 OPS the last 2 years.)
  9. After reading all the comments on De Aza's base running I'm convinced that a good comparison is Lexi's D. Lexi is a great SS, one of the best in the bigs, but some people only see his mistakes and determine he's garbage there, this seems to be the same scenario for De Aza's base running.
  10. I'd prefer the BoSox as well, just because of Peavy, but...Idk how much money this Illitch(Tigers owner) fellow has but is it possible if the Tigers don't win it this year he opens the wallet even wider next year?
  11. I've got 42 points with 2 players to go and I'm up 11, wow. I guess that's not tooo bad considering we both have a QB and a WR to go (Luck and Garcon for me vs Romo and Terrance Williams). Still though if you woulda told me I only had 42 points going into the Sunday night game I woulda notched that up for an L....Denvers D(15.39) is the highest scoring position between the both of us.
  12. Jacobs hit another homer yesterday. That's 2 games, 2 HRs. In his other 3 ABs he picked up a hat trick of Ks. Semien went 1 for 4 Micah, Mitchell, and the pitchers had the day off.
  13. Olbermann just said Beltran never made it to the world series.....Wasn't he apart of the astros team the Sox raped?
  14. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 11:36 PM) I beg to differ The quantity hasn't been there but the quality sure has.
  15. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 01:34 PM) The point in trading quintana is to get rid of dunn and ramirez, and bring in some good prospects or a good hitter. I just think that's a horrible idea. I'm a Dunn supporter, but even if that weren't true and I hated Dunn like some here do I'm not gonna trade Q with Dunn for prospects, esp. considering the fact that Dunn only has a year left on his contract. If you're trading Q it needs to be straight up for a major league hitter. If the Sox wanted to trade Lexi they can do so on his own without adding one of the better young SPs in the game. Even with his errors Lexi was still one of the best shortstops in the game, as wite said in his post. Sure he had more errors than Peralta but that's only because Peralta doesn't have the range to attempt the harder plays. Peralta is a HUGE downgrade defensively, and without the juice he could be a huge downgrade offensively as well. Lexi alone should get you a C prospect or 2, there's no need to package him with Q.
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 11:51 AM) 100 losses? That's a substantially improved offense, most likely, adding McCann, Abreu, and Peralta. I'm not saying it's realistic, but I don't know how it makes us worse than 2013. Didn't even notice McCann since he had him so far down in the lineup. So scrap the whole 100 lose thing. The points about the trade and Lexi/Peralta still remain. I'd hate to see Q traded for a prospect unless he's a can't miss prospect, and I'd rather have Lexi. 2 of Peraltas last 7 seasons have been pretty bad, and at least one of those 2 god seasons he was aided by the juice.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 12:05 PM) Vance is a reliever, and I'm pretty sure that is what Leesman will be in the future. Bassitt, I think they are trying to protect him innings-wise. He's pitched over 160 this year, after about 90 last year. I reckon that would make some sense. Was hoping to see him as a starter in the AFL but that is quite the workload. The good news is he should be stretched out by the time he reaches the bigs.
  18. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 11:08 AM) cf De Aza 2b beckham 1b Abreu rf Garcia ss Peralta lf vicideo dh konerko/phegley/mccan c/dh mccan or navarro or AJ Pierzynski free agent 3b keppinger sp sale sp santiago sp danks sp e johnson sp rienzo rp lindstrom/jones/purcey/petricka/webb/crain closer reed Sign Abreau as free agent #1 priority, Sign Peralta as Free agent #2 (16 less errors than ramirez, .300 batting average), Sign Brian Mccan or Dioneer Navarro for C, Package Dunn/Ramirez/Quintanna and trade for any type prospects. Losing Dunn/Ramirez poor fielding and offense will offset having a replaceable Quintanna. Not sure how bench should shake up but really need platoon at 3b with keppinger and some speed/power as well. Yikes, that's a 100+ loss team right there and perhaps the worst I've seen. We still have no idea what we have in Garcia, I'm not ready to call him a cleanup hitter. The trade you purpose is just awful since Q alone should get you a major league bat. Yes Peralta committed less errors but he has 0 range so in that regard Lexi>Peralta, he would also be an awful #5 hitter. I
  19. All 4 Sox pitchers pitched yesterday and it gets no talk here? For shame =p. McCray, for whatever reason, started the game with Leesman, Bassit, and Vance combining with 2 others to throw a shutout http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...4&c_id=t454 Micah Johnson went 2-4 with a walk, a triple, and 3 RBI Mitchell was 0-3 but he did drive in a run and came around to score (I'm assuming he reached on a fielders choice). Semien and Jacobs had the day off.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 01:15 AM) As far as Viciedo, give him one more year with the new hitting coach. But you can wait on a guy too long, like Beckham. He's an average baseball player and Sox have given him every opportunity. I think when a guy explodes onto the scene like Gordon did that garners him some extra time to get back to what he's capable of....Sadly for Gordon he just never really got there....I can see a line of thinking where he actually gets another year. He looked like old Gordon before he got bit by the injury bug so it's plausible to think he might get back to that point after a whole offseason for that wrist to heal all the way. I'm not sure if I'm behind this line of thinking, esp with Semien potentially ready to step up.
  21. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) They play cover 2 and have multiple d linemen injured. What can they do? If the D-line cant play the front even or better, the lbs are in a tough spot because they have to respect the pass. Even with the injuries I was hoping for a decent game, the Giants OL has been awful this year.
  22. I know it's really beating a dead horse but ya this DL is just dreadful.....Is Paea playing?
  23. QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 04:25 PM) MLBTradeRumors and CBSSports just now speculated that Scherzer could be traded in the offseason. His value will never be higher. Sure, just speculation, but would be great for us! Depends what prospects they get back. If the talk for Price is 3 top 100 prospects and a major league piece then there's no reason to think the Scherzer deal won't at least match that....If those guys pan out the Tigers could get even tougher long term. Lets say they get that deal from the dodgers and add Pederson and Seagar to what they already have that would be pretty scary.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 03:25 PM) My "maybe" is mostly just not knowing a lot about him. His FB, at least in college, barely touched 90. I did hear a scout talking about how good his slider looked in a Kanny game though. Gotcha, I don't know much about him either, nor do I know what a FIPs is, but the article you linked said that Tony had the lowest FIP of ANY minor league pitcher.
  25. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 03:07 PM) Too many lefties!!!! I know you're kidding but what about Kershaw, Scherzer, Grienke, Ryu.... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/10/tige...his-winter.html
