  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 02:48 PM) According to this, the SAL is a more or less average park in that regard, maybe just slightly pitcher-friendly. This of course will vary year to year. More interesting is to look at league leaders in ERA. Kanny had a 3.80 team ERA, which was around league average, maybe slightly worse. I think a likely scenario here is that Kanny just had some interesting pitching, though many of those were promoted quickly. Guys like Goldberg, Recchia, Cose, Jaye were all promoted out at some point. I personally think there are some intriguing arms who finished there. The obvious like Danish, but also Ortiz, Lopez, Wendelken, Montas, Hansen and maybe Bucciferro are all worth keeping an eye on. Leyer and Olacio too, though their numbers didn't show it. That's a pretty interesting group in my eyes. Gotcha, thanks for the info....Another question, why the maybe with Bucciferro? I know he's a bit older but should we really fault him for finishing his college career?
  2. Like I mentioned in another thread, the rumor I read was Price to the Dodgers for Joc Pederson (#43 prospect in the bigs), Corey Seagar(#47), Julio Urias(#88), and Chris Withrow who is a major league reliever. Cubs would have the bullets to top that but is it worth it?
  3. Is the Kannapolis ballpark considered very pitcher friendly? What about the SAL league as a whole, more pitcher friendly? There were 10 pitchers who posted an era under 3.25 in at least 25 innings pitched for kanny this year.
  4. Zoom has a league that needs guys, I'm sure yous guys can jump on that.
  5. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 9, 2013 -> 07:58 PM) These are the times that I wish KW was in charge of a different organization. He loves the Arizona Fall League and would trade the Sox something pretty good after salivating over Mitchell's play out there. It's been one day.
  6. Kiley McDaniel ‏@kileymcd 9 Oct White Sox OF prospect Jared Mitchell just hit a massive bomb over the 390 sign in right center...and over two bullpens. What a beast =p
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 8, 2013 -> 03:35 PM) 27 years old next year. .277 BA 7 HR 44 RBI 9 SB in a 135 game season average 15 errors in 123 attempts in RF last year. Has never played in CF more than 48 games in an entire season. He's still ranked positively there the last couple years...It just so happens that AJ Polluck and in the past Chris Young has graded out amongst the best.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 10:51 PM) I usually can't stand HHH but his involvement in this angle has been perfect. That being said, the Big Show's involvement is starting to ruin the whole thing, hopefully the blow off to this feud is at HiAC and they don't f*** it up. This. HHH coming out there every week is no different than VKM coming out every week back in the day. I'm usually more of a fan of the wrestling parts but I have to say that the HHH and Heyman parts have been better than the actual wrestling recently.
  9. Glendales first game is tomorrow...I assume there's no place to watch the game online so who will be providing updates on twitter?
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 06:44 PM) I like this idea. Take Eithier's entire contract if they throw in Joc Pederson. For who from the Sox? There are David Price for Pederson, Seagar, Urias, and Withdrow rumors floating out there. That's 3 top 100 prospects for David Price. Even if they take on all of Ethiers contract chances are they're going to have to give up Quintana and even then that might be a stretch if you want Pederson.
  11. Here's an interesting tidbit. The Sox were 18th in strike outs. There were 4 playoff teams ahead of them (all in the top 7) and 2 more playoff teams were just 11 Ks behind us. 2 of those teams had 100 LESS ABs and another had 93 less ABs to reach that feat. I don't think the Ks Grandy(Dunn fits in this discussion as well) will bring will make THAT big a difference as long as he's producing like we know The Grandy Man can(ya I went there).
  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 03:02 PM) One thing we do need is competitive veteran leadership. Granderson brings with him a few intangibles that might outweigh his horrid splits. I'd still prefer jacoby because 1) he's a more balanced hitter 2) he really makes us solid defensively, taking tons of pressure off Tank and AG. I think it makes more sense. I'm torn. What part of his splits are horrid? 2010-2012 OPS vs RHP- .870 OPS vs LHP- .791 Home OPS- .882 Away- .807 Pre All star- .850 post all star- .836 None on- .855 Runners on- .831 Sure there's a big difference in a lot of those splits but considering the worse part of his splits are still pretty damn good I wouldn't call it horrid.
  13. When talking DH I'd rather have Granderson over McCann. 2010-2012 stats Granderson- .247/.337/.506 McCann- .252/.329/.441
  14. I just kinda hope it doesn't play out like the lineup bucket posted awhile ago where Dayan gets moved to 1B. A lot of "good" first basemen to be had in free agency and once again De Aza SHOULD have some kind of trade value. If they could sign Granderson and another "good" FA and then package De Aza+ and Santiago/Q+ in 2 separate deals for 2 more big league pieces then that should go a long way towards getting back to where they need to be.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 12:07 PM) As with looking at his numbers last year and using them as justice to not sign him is wrong, looking at the bolded numbers and using it as justice to sign him is also wrong. Consider the sample sizes in those scenarios. It was still ~80 abs against each, but yeah, I debated not putting them in there for that reason but thought they were gaudy enough to throw it in there. Moreso than those stats I think the .800+ ops vs RHP for 6 straight years is more of a "Justification" to sign him.
  16. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 07:35 AM) Granderson isn't the worst guy the Sox could go after, but he is not an OBP guy and that is a bigger problem on this team than power and defense. He was surprisingly ranked 12th and 14th in the league in walks in '11 and '12, so if he can put together a good year batting average wise than he'll put up a .350+ obp. He's pretty much the OF version of Adam Dunn and as a Dunn supporter I'm cool with that. Disregarding this injury plagued season he's put up an ops over .800 vs RHP every year since '06, and with all the RHP within the division that type of bat could really come in handy. His ops vs division opponents the last 3 years... Cle- 1.099 Det- .909 KC- .969 Min- 1.172 As far as De Aza goes, I'm with a lot of other people here, I hope he's not just made the 4th OFer or traded for scraps. He SHOULD have some value.
  17. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 6, 2013 -> 07:08 PM) Why? Both of those guys are terrible. White has had some good years off the bench and I've got a soft spot for Pittman as a fellow fatty. I thought with some work under Thibs he could be a better option than Naz. Saw him for a second pre game and he looks to be in "good shape" for him.
  18. QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 6, 2013 -> 03:13 PM) Leading scorer so far??? Mason f'n Crosby. 20 pts Scratch that, new leader....Cardinals D 31 points lol 51 points by my kicker and defense. If I had James Jones in over Colston I'd be sitting at 172 points with Vernon Davis and Rashad Jennings to go.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 6, 2013 -> 03:54 PM) He does have at least 1 legit backup in Dunleavy, right? And Hinrich, if healthy will probably get some minutes there, and the guy they drafted out of Florida whose name I don't even have down yet will get a few minutes per game also. Eric Murphy, he's a PF. Looking at the box scores I was kinda surprised to see neither Pittman nor White got any minutes, esp with Noah out...Looks like Nazy will be the backup C and Murphy will be the 5th big.
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 6, 2013 -> 01:27 PM) 4 total yards for Giovani Bernard so far Regretting that Jeffery for Bernard trade? Looked like a reallly bad, borderline veto-able trade at the time but Jeffery has looked fantastic the last 2 weeks.
  21. Looking at the box score I'm kinda surprised Pittman didn't play, esp. with Noah out....Murphy looks like he'll be the 5th big.
  22. With less than a yard to go I think he got it, there was a little surge at the end that should have got him what he needed.... but, even as a NU fan, I think its really hard to be indisputable on that call. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 5, 2013 -> 10:50 PM) hopefully 0 or 1 loss SEC team and one of FSU,Clemson,Oregon,Stanford can run the table so we dont get to see another national title mismatch. Wouldn't mind seeing Ohio St in the national title game if it means Nortwestern is in the Rose Bowl...Plus I like looking at the bright side with the whole "Well at least the lost was to the Nat'l champs" thought process.
  23. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 5, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) Total number of hits, alone, I do not believe is a very meaningful stat. He was #11 in the AL in hits. He was also #5 in outs made. Interesting, still though what it really boils down to is who's better Beckham vs Ramirez and to me that answer is clearly Lexi. Then again that also means he has more trade value so I'm not against him being traded for the right package. Looked up that outs made stat and there are a ton of good players on that list...Top 10 alone features Machado, Andrus, Adam Jones, and Pedoria.
