QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 11:46 AM) When we have major media affiliations having their top investigative reporters following this story, that's when it gets bad. This story seems to be picking up steam rather than going away quietly. Yep. Every single rumor on this site last week is coming true. And Jamar on the bench last night is absolutely pathetic. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 11:44 AM) How many DUI's or arrests is this under Squak's patrol? Smith and McBride, and did Frazier get one?

Please don't screw this up. He doesn't deserve to be the highest paid coach, but damn he should be right up there.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) The title amuses me. I think I'd vote Santo in if I had a say/ That reminds me, we get to hear all the Santo fluff stories this year. -
QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 02:22 PM) Its probablly better for the Illini, they can find a JUCO or player who can do more than just jack up 3's. Hey KU has lost Giles, Giddens and Downs for various reasons. they ended up getting Darrell Arthur and a bonus 2008 out of it. It is sad, but the way it goes with kids. Off topic, but what did happen with Giddens? I know he ended up transferring to New Mexico.

Hell no. The jerseys suck ass as well. Why can't we just have a plain black uni with the Sox logo?

I wish there was some way you could bet on WWE, I'd be filthy rich. It's so damn predictable. I don't watch that much, but when was the last time Cena lost?

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 17, 2007 -> 05:32 PM) My buddy on Butler (Veasley, #21) might have had one of his better games of his freshman year, and I'd say for sure played his most minutes in a game (he played probably 32 minutes or so) and SIU wins a great game. I'll take it. You know Willie Veasley from Freeport? I think I remember him going off against my high school my senior year. -
Chief Illiniwek.....HE GONE!!!

At least they are keeping the name, it would be a damn shame if it had to go. And I'm not an Illini fan by any means. -

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) Last year I think he had Syracuse going from a bubble team to a 4 seed in one week. Probably the best job at espn, with the best security... if he's wrong, who gives a s***?? Syracuse did go from a bubble team to a 5 seed in a week last year. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) Kansas also had "slightly" more talent than this Illini squad. The Jayhawk team was a lot more talented than this Illini squad. -
Hopefully they both come out of this OK.

The Pledge at Public Schools

QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Feb 3, 2007 -> 01:40 PM) When I was in high school a few years back, they started up the pledge immediately after the 911 tragedies, but it had always been optional. It was a large, public high school in the Chicago suburbs, yet all sides were happy as far as I knew. We did the pledge from 9/12/01 until I graduated in 2004. -

I'll go with the Carlos Mencia Bud light one, then K-fed.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 02:34 AM) More of a general thing that related to this article, but why does everyone think Masset is Major League ready? His AAA numbers are unimpressive, only his K numbers are decent. His #'s were better as a reliever. Pretty good list, I guess the only disagreement I have is him putting Haeger ahead of Lance, hell I would put Mcculloch ahead of him as well. Also, it's pretty sad looking at that 2003 list.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 11:24 PM) IIRC, Grossman doesn't like it. The thing is, the Bears haven't used the shotgun in about six years. With all the QBs we've had, I can't believe they have all hated it. I don't see why Rex would hate it as he used it all the time in college, plus the fact he is small.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 11:06 PM) The game was clearly lopsided. The offense couldnt move the ball, the defense couldnt stop their offense. Our defensive line couldnt get to manning, and our offensive line couldnt keep the pocket. Our special teams even coughed up a fumble to hurt us. I would say the Colts pretty much took it to us save the 1st quarter. Ok so what is a good comparison? It was Rex's first full season. He got this team to the superbowl, he won 15 games. How many people even remember how pathetic this team was a few years ago? How exciting is it to finally have your team in the big one, and actually be interested in the outcome? This staff and this roster will contend for the NFC title for the next several years. I love it. We won despite Rex this year. I will give him credit that bhe performed well in the two NFC playoff games. But if Rex played for any other team he would be luck to win 8 games. EDIT: Maybe saying we won despite Rex is a little too much, because he did have some great games. But you could put a lot of QB's on this team and we would win just as many, if not more games.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 11:02 PM) Carr's first full season playing in the league: 62.8 QB rating 9 TD 15 INT Grossman: 73.9 23TD 20INT Nah, Ill take Rex It's a little different when your first full year is with an expansion team your rookie year vs. your fourth year in the league.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) David Carr? GMAB. He's not the answer. Draft? Certainly not in the first round... Troy Smith in the second-third? Trade? I know that Jacksonville has Gerrard, but why have they been so quick to give up on Leftwich, a guy that they used a (4th?) top pick on? Anyone with comments on this? I know he has a cannon, but his lack of mobility could hurt us, especially in an offense where our coordinator refuses to use the shotgun, even in obvious passing situations. ---------------------------------------------------- I know it sucks for us right now, but turn on 670 and listen to Buffone and Obradovich. They're without a doubt my favorite guys on the radio, and despite their age, they actually know their stuff. Plus, you can tell that they live and die with this team just like all the rest of us. Oh, and on a positive note, Devin Hester's TD return was the greatest moment in my lifetime as a Bears fan. What an awesome start to the game, it was unreal. It has taken the spot of the Mike Brown TD return in 2001 against San Fran along with (on a funnier note) the Keith Traylor ~60 yard interception run down the sidelines in 2001. I'm listening to Doug and OB right now, makes me feel a little better. Don't get the criticism of Carr, as Rex turned it over twice as much as he did with a much better supporting cast. Leftwich wouldn't be a bad option either, he might actually be my first choice. The Bears never go with the shotgun. Not with Turner, not with Shea, not with Shoop. I have no idea why, especially since it would benefit Rex with his size. I hope we can keep Briggs. He says all the right things now but remember he is a Rosenhaus guy.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 10:46 PM) I said it last week that the Bears should listen LONG AND HARD to Dallas and what they have to offer for Lovie. Oh, and I'm not really sure you can go into next season with Rex as the clear #1. One game shouldn't decide his fate, but you just CAN'T trust him. There's no way he should be the clear cut #1 next year, his turnovers are unacceptable.

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 10:30 PM) I didn't see anything like this during the game because as soon as the game was over I had to go back to work, but I want the opinions of neutral fans. Is Leonard Hamilton in the wrong for holding up his index finger meaning #1 while walking off the court being yelled at by fans. Everyone that saw it on TiVo says it was for sure his index finger, but many Dook fans are sayng he was being immature. The Dook fans can give it out, but can't take it? I don't see anything wrong with it at all. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 10:38 PM) As one of the Sex Cannon's biggest fans and supporters I'm frankly done backing him. He wasn't the only reason the Bears got embarrassed today but his play was definitely a major reason for the collapse. The guy is short, slow, panics in the pocket and can't avoid the rush, he has a cannon, swagger and the confidence/respect of his teammates but I'm not sure the positives can ever outweigh the negatives with Rex. I'm prepared for another 30 or so year search for a QB. Hopefully Benson, a top flight special teams and a revamped defense can carry the team next year. Rex is holding this team back. Hell, maybe we need to take a look at a guy like David Carr. Drafting a QB in the first round won't help, because he won't be good for 2-3 yrs and windows are short in the NFL.
