IF Pods stays, our manager needs to stop playing him if he performs like last year, something Guillen failed to do last year. Pods was useless, yet Guillen kept running him out in the leadoff spot every day. If he struggles, hell I'd rather have Owens leading off.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) I'm probably the only one who, on Thanksgiving, watched Virginia Tech-Western Michigan over the NFL games. Nope, I watched a lot more college BBall than NFL games this thanksgiving. I only watched about 15 minutes of the NFL, the first thanksgiving with me hardly watching any. -
NFL games on the NFL network

QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) To answer the question in the first post, I have NFL Network so it is fine. But I know Time Warner in Wisconsin does not and if the Packers are on NFL Network, cheeseheads won't be happy. But NFL games are for Sunday and 1 on Monday night, IMO. I am traditional. What's next? Tuesday Night Football? Money talks though. That's whats so bad, people in Wisconsin won't be able to watch the Packers (they do have a thursday night game later this year too). I guess Colorado Springs couldn't watch the Broncos yesterday. -
QUOTE(SABR Sox @ Nov 23, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) Hopefully they could take Freddy off our hands if intersted. Plenty of intriguing players as well. There is not shot at re-acquiring Chris Young or trading for Justin Upton or Carlos Gonzalez. But Alberto Callaspo, Dustin Nippert and Micah Owens are all good prospects worth a SP. The only guy in that list who does anything for me is Callapso, and in this market we could get more for Freddy. I'm still the Mets best as our trading partners.

What does everyone think about the NFL Network showing live games? I get it at home but not at school, so I won't even be able to see every game. I personally think it's stupid to show games on a channel most people don't even get. I only saw a small part of the broadcast tonight, what was it like?

QUOTE(danman31 @ Nov 23, 2006 -> 01:26 AM) UNC seems to be the king of the 'they lost to that team?!' game. Every year UNC will have a couple just weird losses, especially earlier in the year. For example, the national title team losing to Santa Clara in their opener, the year before losing to a 3-13 in the ACC Clemson team. That said I should give Gonzaga some credit even though I hate to. They aren't a bad team, the win just caught me by surprise to say the least. I thought they would beat the Zags, but it's not too suprising on a neutral court. I could see Gonzaga as a 3 or 4 seed in the tourney easily. -
QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) As far as sports memories go, Flutie throwing the hail mary to Phelan to beat Miami is one of the greatest sports plays I've ever watched live. I really can't even think of anything that ranks with it (Sox WS victory aside). I guess the '80 Olympic win over the Soviets would be greater, but that wasn't live. Every once in a while you can see this game on ESPN classic, and it's a great one to watch. 22 years ago. Man, I'm getting old. Can't leave out Cal-Stanford

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) Well, I'm confused then. We are getting upset because Notre Dame didn't schedule more top 10 programs? Georgia Tech, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, UNC, UCLA, Navy, and USC were all supposed to be good teams this year, or bowl teams in other words. UNC ended up being a patsy because of attrition and a stubborn coach, not ND's fault. This is coming from a person that isn't exactly a ND fan either. I'm not blaming ND for scheduling those programs, but they shouldn't get points because they scheduled them even though they are down this year. -
I have never been so happy about a non sox player winning an award in my life.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 11:43 PM) Scheduling Ball St, Vanderbilt, and Central Michigan...bunch of world beaters there, too. I'm not saying Michigan had the hardest NC schedule, but those teams are better than the teams I mentioned. CMU won the MAC West, better than all of the teams I mentioned. Vandy and BSU are dogs, as is Minnesota, but at least they are bow eligible. -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) Notre Dame isn't screwed at all. ND screwed themselves by pissing down their collective legs at home head to head against the Wolverines. Not to mention scheduling three military academies and UNC. -
This is great news. Pretty much everyone on this board hated the idea of signing Pierre.

Memphis is looking good again this year, beating Oklahoma pretty bad in Maui. Granted, OU isn't very good, but I see Memphis with a 2-3 seed in the tourney if they can get through C-USA undefeated or with one loss. However, their free throw shooting for the season is around 50% -

QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt06.htm Shockingly enough... ND's schedule is tougher than Florida's and close to Ohio State's. The sagarin ratings aren't completely accurate. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 11:14 AM) I don't get it, yes it was a close game (by the scoreboard) but at no time in the game did I actually think Michigan was going to win that football game. OSU was the better football team even after making mistakes and it will be an absolute JOKE if Michigan gets a rematch. USC, ND or Fla/Ark should be playing. If both Fla and USC win well that will be interesting as can be because both deserve it over Michigan but I can't make a legitimate case for why either deserve it over each other. And if ND wins I still think they are screwed just because of that loss to Michigan (even though we played like absolute crap with a zillion turnovers). Best case for Michigan is if ND and Ark win. Even then I don't think they deserve to play OSU again. Yada Yada yada....close score, but if you watched the game unbiasly I dont think anyone can tell me that it really was that close. People could say the Fiesta bowl at times last year was a close game (score wise) but as a ND fan I could tell you that we were completely outclassed by OSU and never had a chance to win that football game. I am a Michigan fan, but if USC wins out I'd say they deserve to go. But there is no way you can justify putting ND ahead of Michigan when UM went there and won by 30. I would also put the SEC winner ahead of ND. ND's schedule just isn't up to par with past years. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 18, 2006 -> 01:21 PM) The Dodgers are close to re-signing Nomah Bill Mueller has retired, and will take a job in the Dodgers front office. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see him wind up as a hitting coach somewhere someday. Backup IF Alex Cora signed a 2 year deal with the Red Sox. Don't know why LA brought Nomar back when they have Loney who can stay healthy, wouldn't be that much of a downgrade, and makes the league minimum.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) So, Where does Michigan end up in the BCS? Under/Over 3.5 I say three. I figured they would come in third in both polls, but I still think it will be third. -
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Nov 18, 2006 -> 08:45 PM) It would be nice if LAA could include Erick Aybar in the deal, a good SS who might be ready to play right away. I'm talking those guys for a package we put together, not just freddy. Aybar would just be a nice guy to have IMO, and LAA can probably afford to part with him with Wood almost ready, although he might have to move to third.
