  1. "The Athletics are likely to also dispatch their winningest pitcher, Joe Blanton, to New York as part of a deal that would fetch one of Billy Beane's longest-held desirables, outfielder Lastings Milledge." This from the SF Chronicle today
  2. He's a Scott Boras player End of story
  3. As stated earlier, the Mets are a desperate bunch-not just because of Freddy going tp Philly-but the Yanks keep making news AND just look at Met starters- We will get what we want from them-
  4. My dream is to see Bonds in stripes or orange coveralls , 1 home run short
  5. The bullpen could weather a trade more than any other position right now, as things are right now
  6. After the apparent problems w/B Mac and the way he handled the team last year, has his stock fallen in your mind?
  7. I dont think there is much doubt about issues w/Guillen. I still have doubts about Guillen when things get tough.
  8. Just a thought from Reinsdorf-why not rebuild now with all the season tickets renewed.
  9. WE lose B Mac, Royals sign Riske, we are plummeting in the divission
  10. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) I really hope other people than myself will be calling for KW's head at soxfest. I don't even know if I want to go... There will be less people to yell at him in the new place
  11. Yeah, but isnt there a Crede arbitration decision ahead?
  12. I say 12th by April 1-a starter is sure to go after Zito signs
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) Needless to say, I would be happy if we got him. I can't believe we still haven't secured a 4th outfielder after this debacle we saw last season. Debacles R Us
  14. At the time, Bruce Vineline had him here
  15. I believe he was the first SOX player at that level
  16. Dye also in a pinch So IF a move is made like this, who would be the odd man out of the 40 man?
  17. For what its worth, we were able to upgrade from 13 to 27 games
  18. He's a career Yankee and would never fit in anywhere else
  19. He has an admirable record pitching 12 years in that hole
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 01:42 AM) Well according to Ken Rosenthal Vernon Wells is going to end up accepting the $126M contract extension the Blue Jays offered him. He'll get an opt out clause and a no-trade as well. This certainly is an interesting turn of events. And supposedly they will trade Alex Rios for "a proven starter"
  21. All the more reason to trade for Michael Young?
  22. The only thing worse than reading a bad post (and yours arent) Is reading someone complaining about a post
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) There may not be another person on the face of the earth who is better at their job than Scott Boras, the man is a genius and I for one admire him. You can b**** about Boras all you want but it doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense to blame an agent for the escalating price of players like 99 said before me, no one if forcing these owners to hand out insane contracts to average players that's all their doing. Its funny he doesnt steer all his clients to the North Side-who overpay for everyone
  24. [ So far, we've dealt Garcia and Cotts, and gotten back good returns. Plus we've re-signed or extended MacDougal, Gload and Ozuna. What about those deals suggests rebuilding to you? Nothing-if you are the Royals
  25. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 10:34 PM) He didn't need to say anything about Buehrle, but Reinsdorf has shown the past couple of years he is willing to open his wallet when need be, and letting his GM make decisions in the best interest of the team. Add in the fact that as attendance has gone up, he's been willing to spend more, as well as the fact he and the Sox are involved in numerous programs to help others, he's done a pretty fair job so far. That and a World Championship. And TV revenue is way up, sales of Sox Merchandise at all time high, advertising in the park, every scoreboard feature sponsored, attendance up with high ticket prices, making Sox Fest almost a Corporate type event, POOR JERRY> I agree about the crying in the media. Anyone that thinks Sox investors or management is hurting for $ is blinded by the World Championship and forgetting about all the prior years of failing to make ONE move that could have won a championship. It sure didnt take long to revert to his old ways.
