We need to evaluate which pitchers do the best against the teams in our division-since we play so many against them. Then keep the 3 most effective AGAINST THE DIVISION.
-
Yes-we have a veteran team that must win now as put together. 2008 should not be a thought as far as the major league team goes
-
Whats so disappointing is that the Twins added no one last off season, the Tigers added an old pitcher in Rogers, and most importantly a major league manager. We made a number of improvements, it seemed the Twins had hoped to finish second at best. Thats why this hurts-no doubt we have better talent and depth-and I just cant tolerate millionaires underachieving. How far are we out, and also how many times was a starting pitcher left in too long this year? The KC losses were bad enough, but the misuse of pitching staff by the manager is my biggest gripe.

I would always applaud them-not just for this years results, but for their efforts and the many individual thrills we got from them this season. They are OUR guys.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) So am I the only one who won't watch a single game of the playoffs this year? I'll watch games that Minnesota is not in-I LOATHE THEM, and their "Stadium" -
QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 08:33 AM) YES. For an organization thats been around for 100 plus years, to not make the playoffs 2 yrs in a row is embarrassing. Especially considering in the last 10 years, we've had teams good enough to do so. This season was over to me after that sickening Boston series in July. It was like getting a glimpse into the SOX future .................. And I didnt like what I saw. For all our troubles this season, I will squarely rest it on Ozzies mismanagement of the lineup and bullpen, particularly MACKOWIAK IN CENTER. I love Mack, but almost every game hes been in Center, has cost us dearly ................ Absolutly-the Mack in CF just the beginning. The leaving pitchers in too long-the never ending parades to the mound to take out a warmed up pitcher who just got an out-to bring in another just because of left/right batter, "resting" Iguchi against right handers when he couldnt hit left handers, the repeated Joey Cora blunders at third, throwing outs away on bunts when its clear that we dont score runs that way-this team should have fimished ahead of both Detroit & Minn. When a group underachieves like this-its the manager
-
Players go into slumps , even teams go into slumps. This has been the most underachieving team in baseball since early July. That can be placed on the manager and coaches. Its time the manager gets called out-kudos to Phil Rogers for doing so today

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 05:49 PM) I do believe Frank stuck it right up Ozzie's giggy. He should have stuck it up Cora's too

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) Well Buehrle gets an MRI yesterday, or the day before, or whatever the hell it was, and then tonight only lasts 4+ and gets hit as hard as he has all year (which says a lot this year). Color me suspecious to say the least, and also I must say Hawk's rants on the greatness of Ozzie and how the Hiney Bird STILL bothers him really insulted my intelligence (which is pretty hard to do with me. ) Somebody should trademark the term "Buehrle being Buehrle" for nights like this where he is a straight fastball/changeup pitcher at 83 and 72, and everything is left up. That's not a recipe for success. He actually hit 89 on the speed sign in right field last night for the first time in a long time in games I've been at that he started. But that was gone by 3rd inning-

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) It started before Ozzie got here. Remember how excited the Twins dugout was the whole series two weeks ago? Hell, in the 9th inning of tonight's game, Ozzie was resting his head on his hand in the dugout, and the guys by the ledge looked like they were asleep. These guys just need to have fun and stop playing not to lose. They are pressing and the bats sure seem heavy. The manager just does not seem dedicated to morale, just his own TV show and preparing funny witicisims for his pre ss conferences. This is so Ditka 1986 QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) It started before Ozzie got here. Remember how excited the Twins dugout was the whole series two weeks ago? White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) Jerry Manuel was fired for a team that showed more intensity than this team has over the last 2 months. Our problem is that our manager is only the 3rd best in our division. That does not bode well in a close race -
