  1. The point that is encouraging to me is we have a REAL LIVE OUTFIELDER now, not infielders like Mack, Osuna, and Gload.
  2. A good move Darin Erstad = Brian Griese
  3. Its not like major Comcast programming has to be bumped to televise these games during the day.
  4. 1 Iguchi jersey left as of lunch time today-rest Uribe, Rowand Jenks and Contreras
  5. I wonder if there have been any cancellations-I know a partial plan holder that has been called about rooms/tickets available.
  6. I agree about the young pitchers-a couple could emerge and we could be dominant. The competition factor is there for all the young studs we picked up. There is no way we will not be in contention.
  7. QUOTE(bullpenHeat @ Jan 17, 2007 -> 11:04 AM) Hello all. My first post here. I think we have a lot to look forward too. Uribe cant be any worse this year could he? What about Anderson? Podsednik should get a healthy full spring training this year, which could be huge for him. 3-5 will be solid again, Dye is playing for a contract. Buerhle is playing for a HUGE contract, so he should be good for 16-17 wins. The catcher situation is much improved. The bullpen is young, but I feel there will be strength in numbers, as if any falter, Charlotte is loaded with hungry pitchers who are capable. The bullpen will struggle at times, but will also dominate at times as well. In conclusion, 8-1 in the lineup cant be any worse than last year, the bullpen should be better than last year, 3-5 is still best in the league, and oh yeah, our 1-4 will be fully rested and healthy. Im smelling 85-86 wins, by early September!!! Welcome and enjoy it here
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 11:54 AM) This is really bad news. If all they are announcing is a one year deal, that means we couldn't get a multi-year deal done. Bye-bye Joe. Absolutly correct-He may be gone quicky too
  9. Trading away our best prospects in 1959 & 60 for way past prime aging players, we traded John Romano, Earl Battey, Norm Cash, and John Callison for players like Roy Sievers and Gene Freese
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 06:13 PM) I've said this before but the only show I really like in Chicago is Silvy and Carmen. At times I can tolerate M, J and H but at other times they really annoy me. Every other show I hate, including B and B. There is actually some sports discussion on Silvy & Carmen, but too much NBA MJ&H only other show I'd consider in all of sports radio I wouldnt listen to B&B with someone else's ears
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 13, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) I think a cap in baseball would suck. Now it's very easy to say that as a fan of a team with a top 10 payroll, but thats how I feel. There is no other off-season that is as fun as baseball, and the only sport that has an exciting trade deadline. Oh, and the Royals didn't seem to have much of a problem giving 55 million to Meche No recent team has gone under or filed bankruptcy. Until one does and players start missing paychecks, the MLBPA will NEVER agree to a cap
  12. 40th man-Alomar, Jr? Seriously, KW needs about a week at minor league pitchers Anonymous Why not get a young position player once in a while?
  13. OK Buehrle will be gone, JD likely to be gone-Do we have a guy to replace JD that can put up close to his numbers? Its not likely. His defense has also been outstanding and he could be first base insurance. This team continuing to dump players for $, unless replacements are there, is a receipe for mediocrity. They are going to have to pay someone eventually-they just arent deep in the minor leagues . I just wish payroll was not brought into EVERY comment management makes
  14. QUOTE(J-MAN @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 03:03 PM) Amen! I find myself turning off both talk radio stations more and more lately. Like most of us I would have liked for Kenny to improve our left field and center field but not at what it woul d take to make it happen. Those stations have been off for a long time with me. Believe it or not, there was a time when there was no sportsradio on the air-and bad radio and negativeism was at a low
  15. Tell me something thats dumber than trading for Neal Cotts, signing Ted Lilly and Jason Marquis?
  16. One thing to consider about 100M payroll, in time, that WILL BE small market payroll, unless something drastically changes
  17. We are going to have to get some infield insurance, however. The Cubs seemed to sour on Ronny Cedeno-any thoughts?
  18. Per Major League trade rumors-physical pending I despise that guy
  19. Why not, with the $ being thrown around. Quote from Mike Cameron upon hearing this "Welcome Back"
  20. Thank goodness for Coop If we still had Nardi Contreras, we'd need more elbow screws that Menards has
  21. So after this, is the pitching sequence Buehrle, Contreras, Garland, Vasquez, then #5?
  22. Nothing could make me turn on that awful program-thanks to you all that sacrafice your ears so we can hear what KW says
  23. We do not need to trade prize prospects we paid dearly for, to get more bullpen help
