Explosions at end of Boston Marathon
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 05:14 PM) It is also a pretty solid bet based on the history of some of the things we have been allowing our government to do, and the power grabs they have made in the past. QUOTE (Daniel Wood, a video producer from New York City who was waiting for a train @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 05:14 PM) "They can give me a cavity search right now and I'd be perfectly happy," said Daniel Wood, a video producer from New York City who was waiting for a train. Sounds about right.

Explosions at end of Boston Marathon
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 02:57 PM) Who needs big brother to do that, when we have all willingly done this ourselves? I guarantee it won't have been surveilance cameras that will have caught this, but cellphone or tv cameras. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 12:15 PM) @RBecklerPSU Wow. Some people on 4chan are compiling photos of possible Boston bomb suspects. Solid, very compelling work here. http://bit.ly/XGI25h Is that a picture of a dude taking a picture of a woman taking a picture of someone?

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 11:37 AM) What is the record for speedy, left-handed outfielders with no power on the same roster anyway? Scott Podsednik Darin Erstad Ryan Sweeney Jerry Owens counts twice.

Things DJ has taught us
Despite the sarcastic purpose of this thread, DJ has grown on me in the (radio) booth. It was a bummer when he and Stone traded spots because Stone was a perfect fit with Farmer, and the transition wasn't always a smooth one, but I've come to enjoy it.

I don't want to be the one that flings this thread into the Filibuster, but I ran across this... ...and threw up in my mouth. Absurd. You are whats wrong with the world, Daniel Wood.

2013 Cubs catch all thread
I walked in to Bacardi at the Park before the game on Opening Day just in time to catch Lillibridge make a nice play to save a hit on one of the screens. I thought I saw that he had a decent spring as well. Thought he might have a chance to stick around with this particular team, if only long enough for them to flip him to a contender (should anyone have a pressing need for a Brent Lillibridge). Guess not.

Explosions at end of Boston Marathon
QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 03:31 PM) Isn't this the week (4/20 specifically) of a huge number of terrorist/ tragic events? Waco, ok city, columbine etc IIRC, around the time of Columbine, it was pointed out that Adolf Hitler's DOB was 4/20/1889. I doubt that has had anything to do with any of these events, but anything for a story.

A white sox winner!
Very nice to be able to put that joyless stretch of baseball behind, if only for a day. Tomorrow ought to be interesting.

2013 MLB Catch-All thread
QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 09:38 PM) wait, so Greinke almost his CQ twice before in the same AB? that pretty much changes everything. To clarify, that particular AB took place while he was still with the Sox in 2009 (I think it was '09).

2013 MLB Catch-All thread
Watching Col @ SD and they just showed a replay of the two Greinke pitches in a row that nearly took Quentin's head off. That looked pretty bad, and really, I think anyone showing a replay of the recent occurrence should include that clip either immediately before, or after said footage.

2013 MLB Catch-All thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 12:11 PM) What exactly should he have done? Run? Duck and get slammed into the ground? If the twig on the mound was Sale instead of Greinke, I'd be hoping out loud that he turns and runs far away in the other direction from the crazy man making his way towards him. I don't care what kind of cat noises coming from opposing dugouts follow him around for the rest of his career (maybe it even gets him a few bucks via a sponsorship deal with Vagisil). If the twig was Greinke and his absurd contract that he just signed over the winter, and I'm Don Mattingly, I run out in front of Quentin as fast as I can so as to impede his progress.
-
2013 MLB Catch-All thread
I hope Quentin's punishment isn't exaggerated just because it looks like Greinke will be missing some time. Even if it is initially on the lengthy side, I don't think it would stick after Quentin inevitably appeals it.

Just got home and turned the game on. * Saw Adam Dunn at the plate in the top of the 1st inning * Saw Paul Konerko field a grounder to end the bottom of the 1st inning. Oh lordy...

Not going to lie, I wasn't expecting to feel this good about Rios this early into the season. I'll happily take it.
