  1. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) No sutcliffe was talking about Vazquez doing something with his head/balance point in relation to his record. I believe his thesis was that Vazquez' numbers were good, but he didn't win a lot of games because of his head/balance point issue. Sut made no mention of run support, because the only stat that matters is W, and clearly Vazquez isn't good at getting his offense to score more runs. Did you even watch the game? The whole point of Sutcliffe's analysis of Vazquez is, He rocks his head back when he's coming inside and keeps it straight if he's going outside. His thesis was that because of this he gets hit hard after the third time around.
  2. I said it all through the gamethread yesterday: this is a bad team. We will be shut down most of the time and every once in a while light it up but that's it. Any pitcher that gets lit up by this offense should be ashamed.
  3. I hated Neal Cotts. Especially last year, when every girl at the park loved his 85467587964 ERA because he's "hot." I didn't really hate Neal Cotts. But he's not Neal Hotts to me. Not at all!
  4. I say, God bless Edgar Renteria for refusing to take the sissification of baseball lying down. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 04:33 PM) Im going back a few days on this quote, but what does this mean? Molitor, right now, is a roving minor league instructor for the Twins It means I admire Paul Molitor the man and the baseball player and the hitting instructor.
  5. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 04:13 PM) I can finally put a picture to the face!
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 11:59 PM) Hey guys, I need some help deciding on a good vacation spot on the East Coast for a summer road trip. We need somewhere where people can layout in the sun and do some fishing as well. We also need to find some pet-friendly hotels in the area because we'll be bringing along our 2 small dogs. Ideally, we'd find a pet friendly hotel with a indoor/outdoor pool near a nice beach, a place to swim, and a place to fish. We were considering Myrtle Beach, SC and Virginia Beach, VA so far, but I'm open for suggestions from some fellow SoxTalkers. Any help is great, thanks a lot. Ashville is fantastic and you can see that minor league manager who threw that fit last year! Otherwise: why are you trying to vacation by committee? What kind of man are you? (Ashville really is fantastic. A friend of mine lives there and says great things about it.) You're going to suffer paralysis from analysis.
  7. Eh hem, the question was: The answer is Nyet! No! I say no! [/stalin] Now if the question is, "Is Mark the best homegrown pitcher in Sox history?" the answer is, IMO, Yes!
  8. What's the point of the punishment if he doesn't actually have to make any calls? Part of the point of having umps is they can be right or wrong and they're not machines and we're going to force the others to "Correct" his calls? f*** that! He should be allowed to blow calls if he must and if he does? Let him face the scorn!
  9. Okay. I didn't know the exact numbers. I thought so, though. I wonder what Vladdy would do if he had had the lineup we had last year. Ouch!
  10. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 01:04 PM) Dye has a much more attractive contract than either of those two guys, however. They would only have to pay $2.3-3.5 million for the best RFer in baseball last season. Better than Vladdy?
  11. I'm afraid that he'll get hot and the organization will say, "Don't trade him!" Besides, I doubt he's getting hot, and I think we can replenish now while the demand is high for him rather than later when other teams get involved with their own players to unload or other teams start to fall out of the race and he falls off the table.
  12. When I saw that the ball was hit to him, I laughed because I knew he was going to get thrown out. It was amazing.
  13. I hope he gets it but I have a feeling he won't.
  14. I don't think Thome's going to hit number five hundred this year.
  15. There's nothing incredibly dumb about saying, "If Hamels is going to beat us, I kind of hope he throws a perfect game." I'd love to witness Cole Hamels history, and baseball history. I'm just as big a fan of baseball as I am of the Sox. If Frank hit 500 against us, I wouldn't bristle, and if Randy Johnson had completed his near-no-hitter last year, I'd applaud him, and if David Eckstein grinds out five inside the park homeruns, I'd be proud to see it. Especially when this team is so bad, sometimes you've got to admire the other team and its players. Why get pissed off at the offense in the event that Hamels throws a perfect game when you can appreciate it? I'd rather get pissed when Chad Durbin shuts us down.
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 05:56 PM) D'oh. Either way he should be in AAA. There you go again.
  17. Hahaha, I didn't click it when you posted it and found it when I was doing my every-couple-of-weeks-check on The Dugout. Nobody pays attention to you....because posters like you are easier to control...
  18. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 03:46 PM) Remember, while Billingsley may throw 95-96 right now, expect him to lose roughly 5 mph if he joins this team. That's actually fairly true.
