White Sox loser
QUOTE(TheOcho @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 07:54 PM) I threw up in my mouth at last night's game I attended. Then today I threw up everywhere. Not good. Are you kidding? Kind of funny. But who am I to talk? Chad Durbin ruined my week.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) We could be 30-132 and Walker would not be fired. I am so confident that Walker will not be fired that I will change by name to Penis if he is fired during the season. I'll hold you to that!

Goddamn, I'm tired of hearing Hawk talk about how a guy has ten pitches because he "does different things" with them.

More Sox History: Who remembers the 1977 Southside Hitmen ?
One thing I've always wondered about that is, Were they the first to adopt the Rent-a-Player concept?

Wanted: Designated Hitter
If the organization isn't high on him that isn't necessarily an indictment of him as a pitcher. It might just be the organization being the organization.

Does the team understand that Frankie Rodriguez and Scot Shields are waiting for them?

Why the hell is Cintron batting in front of Uribe?

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) Doesn't matter, his results speak for themselves. His average ERA? His low strikeout totals? Gotcha. Come on White Sox.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 06:59 PM) We wouldn't need him now, but he could have been a legitimate replacement for Dye in 2008. Hirsh and Tavarez alone for Garland is a bad trade. Again, if Jennings in a contract year can command Bulchoz/Hirsh/Tavarez, Garland, with an additional year under contract, should be worth more. Hirsh Tavares and Bulchoz for Garland -- I recall that being the deal -- seems like a good trade to me but I guess that's where we disagree.

No he isn't. He's a one-pitch pitcher. He's an average pitcher.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 06:49 PM) My fault, I meant Hunter Pence. I'd have really liked Pence but we wouldn't have needed him. I'd have preferred Hirsh + Willy T to Garland. Of course, that's a great gamble but the way I see it it'd free up payroll and replace an average starter for a guy with a huge ceiling.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) Houston wouldn't depart with Hirsh. For what Colorado received for Jennings, Williams should have asked for me since Garland was worth more. I'm just hoping either Garland or Contreras put together a decent season this year. I'm not interesting in Williams trading either pitcher for a subpar package in a buyers market, then hearing people try to make excuses for it. Meanwhile, another starter comparable to either will be traded for a better package. The point here is unloading starting pitchers is a good idea, but it's not going to help us much if the starters we're trading are poor and the package we receive is mediocre. It'd be comparable to taking one step back and one and half steps forward. Houston did part with Hirsh. They were willing to give him up for Garland, along with Willy T.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 06:40 PM) Here's a question I'd like to see what people think about: if Thome misses 30 or so games due to injury, does anyone think we have a chance in this division? If we could adjust to hitting line drives and more Pirahna ball, yes. If we kept swinging for the fences all the time, no. We'd have to Minnesota it.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 06:37 PM) Hirsh, Pence, and another prospect would have been a great trade. We'll probably be looking to trade Garland again this offseason. Yeah, well, his value won't be anywhere near what it was last offseason. Shame we got greedy.

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/28/07 (L)
You know, I can't believe we insisted on so much for Jon Garland. What Colorado got would've been just fine. Hirsh is a good young pitcher. With a good arm and great size.
