Hermanson could be back by the end of the month...
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) We'll see. I mean unless we're getting a stud back in return, is it really worth it to make a trade for someone that will be the 6th guy out of the pen and probably won't be needed very much? I really don't expect anything out of Dustin(been saying that all year) but if he says he can go, I think you have to at least give him a shot because it's not like Politte is going to be lights out this season. All Politte needs is confidence!

9/11 conspiracy theory
There's a 9/11 conspiracist at our school who wears a tinfoil hat. He also stutters after every word. And in our debate league, the Chicago Debate League, he lost every debate out of twenty. In other words, these are the type of people you want telling the truth!

> Supreme Court rules for Kansas Death penalty
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) Wrong. Actually its been my experience that the spoiled, sheltered etc........etc........ are so naive that they believe criminals aren't all bad and deserve a break. Oh, I won't deny that. It is often a sheltered, pampered person who might believe the best in people due to a lack of cynicism from not being in the real world. It is also a sign of being a pampered little prince that you'd suspect a criminal of getting arrested simply so as to have a "better" life in prison. Because, you know, getting raped, beaten, and having no freedom to go out and do as you please is quite preferable to poverty. Hot damn! That aside, I haven't the slightest clue who in this thread is argung that criminals deserve a "break." I thought that the argument being made was that the death penalty is excessive, unneccessary, racist, a ton of things -- but nobody here's arguing that criminals don't deserve punishment or jail. Of course, details don't matter when you're dealing with a man who paints everything with the broadest of brushes. Spare me that bulls***, Nuke. It's bulls*** coming from you, Sir People With Cancer Who Are Prescribed Pot Are Jackasses. And Minors: what the hell do you know about half the people you talk about? You're the one who goes around cursing up a storm whenever there's a minor disagreement or a large one, and "god damned liberals" seems to be the only point you ever consistently make. That and, " President Bush" And also, "I hate liberals all right that'll never change" And, "[anything] f***ing [anything]" I'm seriously beginning to doubt that you know how to read. Hello, my signature says that I'm not seventeen yet, but will be in August. Maybe you were just trying to be cute, and switching away from profane and illiterate. Clearly you've never experienced the joy of being raped with a cable TV on in the background

> Supreme Court rules for Kansas Death penalty
This is the type of thinking that can only come from someone who has been pampered their entire lives or much of it.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 08:51 AM) You forgot the flowers and candy! We can't have a good hippie love fest without the flowers and candy dammit!!!! Bring some ganja while you're at it. Gotta get high.....er i mean use it for medicinal purposes. They'd probably invite some terrorist.....er........i mean oppressed Muslim victim of the evil United States and its aggression.....to speak to them too. Hippie lovefests are good candidates for flowers and candy, that's true. But you can't have an invasion without flowers and candy, either.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 09:07 AM) Who made you the grammar police? Stop it. It's condescending bulls***. If it bothers you that much, I'll stop, certainly. But that clearly wasn't policing. I wasn't actually trying to correct his grammar. It was satire, and I thought it was humorous at that. But I guess that's semantics, in addition to bulls***. I'm pretty happy with my grammar, thanks. QUOTE(Cknolls @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 08:34 AM) I see you have a very substantive response. Where are you doing stand-up this weekend????????????????? I'm not sure yet.

QUOTE(minors @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) These guys already committed murder. Are you one of these people who think prisoners can be rehabilitated? Yes, I'll answer for him. He does. He's one of those bastards who believe in such fantasy as minimum wage, universal health care, and peace on Earth. So don't worry about what he thinks. We all know that prisoners are beyond rehabilitation.

Montero sent down
Thank God. My heart couldn't take another Montero outing. Politte hasn't been much better for my circulatory system's centerpiece, but I like him better, as a person and a pitcher. Here's to hoping he's not throwing like someone who needs to be put to sleep, though.

Flag burning amendment headed to Senate floor.
QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) If you read Scalia's opinions he is a pure textualist, he doesn't write based on any political agenda, he writes about what the law and the constitution actually say. Pompous and arrogant in his opinions, absolutely, but activist, I really dont think so. I don't even believe that there's a such thing as an Activist Judge, just judges with different interpretations, but if there is, then people like Scalia fit in in my book. Besides, there are a ton of people who will tell you that Scalia is an activist Judge, and I'm sure I could do the research to bring up a case or two that "back" that idea. I don't care enough to do so, but let's not bulls*** ourselves. There is no such thing as an absolute strict constructionist or of someone without any political agenda.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) Every once in a while, I can't hit snooze before the "Rush Limbaugh morning update" comes on. Other than that, f*** no. I did, occasionally, for educational purposes only, many many many many years ago. The inanity, the inanity. How can you dismiss a man who has talent on loan from God? Is it because he has fat on loan from America's beef cattle? And wives to spare -- or not, considering how often he gets divorced?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) There are people who must have something in their DNA that makes them unable to kick. No, not really. I don't care who you are -- you do meth, and you'll, at the very least, have that urge for the rest of your life, but I very much doubt you can resist it. At least, not always.

QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) Lol at Scalia as an activist judge. Why is that funny? Roberts isn't an Activist, and Alito doesn't seem like it, either. But Scalia and Thomas are absolutely active in enacting their own judicial agenda, and they undeniably have got themselves quite an agenda.
