According to the people who disagree with my opinion pieces, I am an alchemist a homophobe a Republican Oh my! Also: if your wife, or girlfriend, works on one of the Indiana tollroads (won't get into where), and someone was blasting "Who Let The Dogs Out" because he found it in a friend's car and thought it be funny...you're welcome, because she had a pretty funny story to tell you when she came home.

A Little Help PLease, Probably from the college crowd
Gregory Pratt replied to Texsox's topic in SLaM
No, no, SoxTalk is definitely and absolutely a great place to look for information. We have all sorts of miscreants here. Troublemakers. Goodie goodies. You know? You've got every type of person here. I was just making a joke about discretion. -
Just watched the HBO documentary. Pretty good stuff. The 2001 World Series is definitely one of the best of all-time. Had a debate over on another baseball site I'm on about the greatest recently. I still think it was 1991, but 2001 is pretty good. Lots of people swear by it.

One more nail in the coffin of diplomacy regarding Iran.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 10:23 AM) The lilliputian s***head wants to visit ground zero. Thank god Columbia will let the lilliputian s***head speak at Columbia. That really makes me sick. -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 08:45 AM) I asked if the rods were hollow and she said they were solid, which seemed weird to me. If I understand her description they are about 4-5 inches long, blunt on both ends, and solid. I confirmed he's smoking pot, which really didn't upset the mom, but there are some other circumstances which would make things nasty if he ever got caught. Sometimes it isn't what you do, but who you are. Ah, the influential people attempting to keep discrete by sending the messenger onto...a message board? Talk about discretion! '_ -

I want Barry Bonds in the Cell
Gregory Pratt replied to Punch and Judy Garland's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(danman31 @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 01:57 AM) If you like winning you want Bonds on your team. You simply can't argue against that. If you'd rather have a classy losing team, then you don't want Barry Bonds. I'd love for the Sox to sign Bonds because the team would win more games. If you like winning you want Bonds on your team. Right, 'cause it's worked so well for San Francisco the last couple of years. Bonds = a winning team. Right. -
If that's true, then what we're doing is Sox fan fantasizing as well.

QUOTE(HoosierSox @ Sep 21, 2007 -> 06:42 PM) If the Gold Glove actually went to the best defensive player every year Crede would have a couple right now. The GG is a joke. I can bet Kenny Rogers will win it this year again even though he didnt play a full season. Eric Chavez is pretty good. Brandon Inge is better than Crede.

I guess it takes a big hulking mathematical formula to show that Jerry Owens is good at baseball. -
Does Kenny do that deal? I don't think so.

Braves -- probably not going to happen. Brewers -- maybe, but what would they give us and how much money would we eat? Cards -- maybe, but they really have nothing to give. Rays -- yeah, right. D'Backs -- maybe, but I doubt it. Dodgers -- just about a no, I think, unless it's Garland-for-Furcal, which I don't think we'd do. Mariners -- these guys are my favorite. Mets -- probably not. Padres -- maybe, but would they take his contract? they could probably get something cheaper. Phills -- again, maybe, but I doubt it, and they haven't got much to give. Rangers -- I don't think they'll trade for Garland, but they might be an interesting fit as they've got some new depth at SS and we need depth at SS. Reds -- no. Rockies -- TULO!

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 21, 2007 -> 05:36 PM) Which is why Garland should have much more value than people think. Contreras for that matter... Dodgers are probably going to go after Blanton, hard, instead of Garland. I just don't expect us to get much for Jon Garland. Who are we going to trade with and what are we going to get from them?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 21, 2007 -> 08:47 AM) That's good to hear, glad they did it, but I have to agree that for the U.S. to do it is a much, much, much larger and more complex undertaking. Not impossible mind you, but even with considerate effort, it would take a long time. I'd be happy if we just made significant reductions each year. She is a weird one. I heard an interview once years ago, where she came in wearing a big battery on her belt, with wires leading into her clothing. They asked what it was, and she said she was feeling a little down and needed the energy boost. I love it. Better that she have some color than not.

All of the "reasons" about Ozzie as a racist or Ozzie "preferring" Latinos (read: Ozzie = racist) are bogus as hell, I don't care about Ben Davis' situation or anyone else's because he's got plenty good track record of not being a racist, the complaints of certain players or fans of certain players be damned. -

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 09:29 PM) Not specifically this, because there's a pretty stinky rat here, but I do have to ask: Why is everything so "conspiracatorial" (yes, I made that up) in nature? And it's a serious question. When you're assessing government or acts of great wrong, you've got to determine: is it just incompetence? or evil? "What BLANK knew, and when they knew it," is always, always, always key. It always will be, in all matters. Someone gives you an STD? "When did they know that they had it?" is key. Doesn't make your STD go away but it filters out malicious intent and just plain irresponsibility. People get AIDS from Red Cross blood? "What did the Red Cross know, and when, and what did they do?" Besides that, when people know something, their response to that is key to determine. If someone, say, decides, "s***, this is embarrassing, let's not tell anyone," that's bad. If someone says, "Let's not tell anyone but try and fix it," it's still bad. Few people go out and say, "Hey, we're polluting the water in violation of EPA laws. Didn't know it until now, but now we do, so we'll fix it!" Usually people cover up their wrongs, whether they be small children or big children (bureaucrats). That's why everything is "conspiracy," which is a word with an awful connotation that it doesn't deserve. Sure, there are f***ing people looking at the New England Patriots 2002 Super Bowl game plan to prove that Bush knew about 9/11, but "what Blank knew and when" is always key.
