  1. I remember being worried for WHARRIS when the Bears lost the Superbowl. I wonder if fathom's going to make it through game 1 of the playoffs if the Cubs win it.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 12:52 AM) I've been told by many people I look like a dark haired AJ Pierzynski. You don't.
  3. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 08:22 AM) You have made a powerful enemy today.
  4. You knew how that statement would be taken, and rightfully so.
  5. Well, it's true, but "Oh, they don't have the Astros to look forward to!" is a crap statement.
  6. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) You're a crap statement. There, I said it. Eighties wrestling sucked.
  7. I really loved the stunt TO pulled with the football, where he used it as a videocamera, after the Belichick spy stories came out. I really dislike TO for being such an asshole but damn, he's pretty good.
  8. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) I hate "America's Team" but I love Tony Romo. Grossman looks like he learned something on that run from Romo. Grossman reminds me of Romo in that I think he'd cry on the sidelines just like him if he botched a snap. I was surprised Grossman didn't cry when he lost the Super Bowl.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) I'm far and away the biggest Rex fan there is. I still remember getting laughed at on here when I told someone I'd rather have Rex than Vick if I had to win one game. Umm, they both suck.
  10. If this team had a real offense, it would be so dangerous. Alas!
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 07:06 PM) I was wondering who would take that the wrong way. The White Sox were the best team in 2005, and they got to face a team that they matched up very well against. The Astros had some easy outs at the bottom of their order in Ausmus and Everett, and weren't an instant offense type of team. Meanwhile, the Yanks and Red Sox have loaded rosters. I have confidence in the lineup of both teams, as they have no easy outs in their lineup, especially if Manny can return. Put it this way.....I was not rooting for the Illini a couple of years ago, and it was comforting knowing that the loaded Tar Heels were waiting for them in the finals. If it was possible that there would have been a team that was less talented/explosive, such as Kentucky, I wouldn't have been as confident heading into the championship game. That White Sox team beat a loaded Red Sox team. I still think that was a crap statement.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 05:55 PM) Trust me, I take a lot of solace knowing that teams like the Yanks/Red Sox exist on the other side of the bracket. As I tell my brother, it's not like they'll have to beat the Astros to win the WS. What a crap statement.
  13. Holy s***, I hope the Rockies make it. I really don't believe they will, but I hope so. I really would love that. And if they won!
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) I get the book every year, and in their team write ups they make a prediction on the upcoming season. 2005 I think the quote was "the window has closed". They really liked their chances last season, and this year said they weren't going to win anything. A lot of their staff is in Chicago, so I think the White Sox and Cubs get scrutinized a little more by them, but all in all for the other teams, they have a pretty good track record. BTW, they didn't think the Cubs would be .500 this season. I don't get where people's contempt for BP/BA stems from. Do people expect a 100% CORRECT rate?
  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) f*** Boras is all I can say.. First of all, were this conversation truly to have happened -- which I doubt -- it would be a blatant violation of the tampering rules. Even if they don't yet own the Cubs, such a conversation should immediately eliminate them from contention. It's f***ing illegal. Belichik would blush at this s***. That's why I know it's bunk.... In the past week Boras has pimped Kyle Lohse as the best FA starter, saying insinuated that Carlos Pena was a $15M/yr player, and said the reason the Devil Rays are a losing team is because they don't overspend on his guys. He's piling on the Rays for not buying pitching when they have 2 proven young talents in the rotation (shields and Kazmir), a couple fringy guys (of which Howell posted minor league numbers that should translate to success), and 4+ very good prospects a year or two away in Niemann (potential), Talbot, Davis, McGee, Price... Add in some Brignac and Longoria to their young offensive core... wow. They still won't be good next year. But in two years, they'll be an 85+ win club with further potential for growth. The guy is a lying fuctard who will say anything to get his client (and more importantly, himself) more $$$. Grade A Asshole. If he said the Sky was blue, there no way I'd believe him. Well, yeah. That's why people like him. He's very good at compiling his player's statistics, making crazy projections and convincing owners, "Hey, he's good. Buy it." And he's incredibly well-prepared. "You can't afford him? Well, what about this condo complex you own in BLANK CITY...it's earned you ____ money. And you're telling me you can't afford a player who will bring you a huge championship? Oh, don't you know? _____ is offering ____ money. We might just walk. We'll haunt your ass." Selig and, especially, the owners are just as responsible for this financial bulls*** as Scott Boras. Oh, how dirty that feels, because I find Boras despicable, but he's not alone in this, even if he is by far the worst.
  16. There was this sad, lonely looking man at the last Sox game I went to against the Angels in the lower bowl who was being hit on by this woman in front of him. She was being friendly and chatty and making a little contact and he was keeping score and screaming all game long. She seemed into him, though, until the Wave went around and he went absolutely bats***. "YOU SHOULD ALL BE f***ING KILLED FOR DOING THE WAVE!" I thought it was funny but he kept screaming everytime it went around and eventually, it became a little sad how angry he was. And then I started to get angry because, I believe, we had a one-run deficit at the time and were trying to contain the Angels in the eighth and I swear to God, the "Wave" went around for fifteen minutes. And not a small wave. Everybody doing the wave. So I started to understand him a little more but he seemed to scare the woman in front of him so I said to the dude in front of me, "He just blew his chance to get laid!"
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) You can't say anything negative or you will get slammed. He pitched a couple good innings today. Its a huge start. The game means nothing, but Gavin is pretty much pitching for a job next year. Spring training next year doesn't mean nearly as much as a game like today. Can't wait to see him pitching every 5th day for the White Sox in 2008. So would you say he's more like Sandy Koufax or Roy Halladay? Halladay, right? 'Cause they're righties. Right? Ish?
  18. Hawk said Duckfart. Again. What I want to know is, Was that a Nintendo duckfart or just a regular duckfart?
  19. Huh, I didn't even know Floyd was pitching today. I don't think I've watched a Sox game in awhile now. Didn't watch Thursday. Not Saturday or today. Did I Friday? Not that I recall. Wednesday? Maybe, but f*** if I remember. I couldn't care less about Floyd's starts at this point. We'll see what he does in ST and then we'll see how he does when the regular season starts. Maybe he can be our Chad Durbin. If not, he can be ROY HALLADAY!!!!!!
  20. Huh, Mitchell really surprised me here. I still dislike him for being oh-so-arrogant, but that doesn't mean he can't be a nice guy. Nobody is so unequivocally black and white. Except for, you know, child murderers and dictators
  21. Been YouTubeing Billy Mitchell: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6SKZxvDQryA Damn, he is an obnoxious piece of s***.
  22. Mark Prior is beginning his throwing program! Ha ha
