#500 as a walk off, is this a first??
Gregory Pratt replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 17, 2007 -> 08:38 AM) Yeah, I read that. I figure that will stir the pot here a bit. It actually made me a little upset when I saw the article, but on reading it, he does actually make some good points. I've believed for quite awhile that Thome is not a first-ballot HOFer but is an HOFer. That is, I wouldn't vote him in on the first ballot and I don't think he will get in on the first ballot. He's never really been The Man or the Best Player At His Position, in his day. A lot of times he wasn't even the best player on his team, and it wasn't like he was playing with Alex Rodriguez (though he was with some very good players). Neyer's still a dick, though, and he's crazy to suggest that he needs 600. -
Greenspan tears BushCo and Congress a new one

All of this is old news if you've read The Price of Loyalty. Might read his book, might not. Definitely won't buy it. Will probably borrow it. -
But seriously, what THE f*** is that?

Pedro Martinez has proven me wrong. He has been absolutely amazing.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) *plenty of spoilers* The Mitchell tape controversy REALLY pissed me off. I found myself wanting to strangle that f***ing referee. The final scene in the movie where they had an update to the standings had me cheering from my seat and later jumping for joy. They build up the characters throughout the film so damn well that you can't help but become emotionally invested in the ups and downs that Webe goes through and flat out HATE Billy Mitchell. And yeah, checking the standings on the website after the movie upset me as well. Wiebe will get it back, I'm sure. Great, great movie.

Let's go Patriots! I love this game so far.

QUOTE(Vance Law @ Sep 16, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) I'm certainly not an Ozzie-basher to the degree of some people, but this particularly annoys me. Hey, Ozzie, the baseball team doesn't exist so that you can "feel like a manager," dips***. Just change the pitchers and be a good cheerleader in the clubhouse. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 16, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) Tizzle and Pratt have a pretty crazy inside joke going on. Care to let us in on it? Go Sox! No.

Stevenson Hall, I'm told, is the place for no-strings-attached, Craigslist-ad sex. Or was, until they put up the "GIRLS ONLY" signs on the doors. I tried to respond to your sexy sexy message and was told that I can't stuff your inbox because it's already stuffed. I said, "Dude's going to get toxic shock syndrome," and figured, "That's his problem, I suppose." But really, I'll try sending you a message now and if you don't get anything, it means you're still, ah, full and need to empty out.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) Where do you go (if you don't mind my asking)? I don't mind. I go to UIC.

I don't know about you guys, but I like it when my relationships revolve around sex and more sex.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 08:29 AM) Hehe. You're just having too much fun. Yeah. It all started when I graduated from high school. That place was hell. An hour and a half commute to and from? s***. It completely f***ed with my ability to go to parties and hang out with people from the school. And then there's the fact that most kids aren't all that smart in high school, so I was operating on a very different level than just about everyone at my school. And then you have the staff at my old school, which ran a terrible school newspaper and didn't allow me to write for it because the editor held a grudge against me. It was a terrible f***ing time. But as soon as I graduated I got a summer job working at the Board of Education (I still laugh about that), met some truly remarkable people, made a bunch of friends/connections, started College from there and dove right in to parties and dates and newspaper and all the things that were cut off by the fact that my HS was so far away. And now I'm taking classes I enjoy, have great working relationships with professors, am free to do whatever the hell I want on campus, am going to Washington later in the month, cooking for my friends and peers today, man, these are happy days. And it all started when I graduated high school and got a job at the board of education. Ha ha ha.

The book IS much better!

Brian, I have never been happier, healthier or more productive/successful in my endeavors. And it seems like everyday is better than the last. Thanks for asking.

I really don't like The Natural. The book is much, much better.

I avoid Internet porn at all costs. But I don't watch porn at all unless it's incidental, like HBO.

Sox Challenge Angels to a Game of Baseball!

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 10:45 PM) Interesting you mention that, because Ozzie had some words for AJP after he didn't run hard on a pop up to first base. AJ is the type of guy who wears out his welcome in places, and I wonder if it's not time to look to trade him this offseason (and obviously have to find another catcher on the market/trade). On the other hand, with what you say, it's concerning that there's that lack of r'ship between Ozzie and the players. It's one of the main reasons that I won't be mad if we sign Rowand....I honestly believe he was the leader of that 2005 team. It's not necessarily a lack of relationship or Ozzie's fault. It's a bunch of bad players, for one (especially on the bench and most of hte rookies/pen), aging veterans of varying capabilities, many of whom have grown fat and complacent because of the WS win. I told you about one of them, if you recall, and you told me a little something too. -

I've heard from two sources -- one on this board, one independent of -- that Ozzie is constantly calling them out for playing without any hunger, desire or energy. It just doesn't work. There are some people on this team that just have to go. And, of course, we need to bring back Aaron Rowand. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) I love Red Sox fans. Play your "arch rival" in late September, and watch your team give up a 6 spot in the 8th to trail 8-7. However, that still won't stop the sheep to get on their feet, and belt "Sweet Caroline" I mean, thats what they are there for, right? You got it. I, for one, love Red Sox fans. They're so passionate and committed, their enthusiasm is infectious. I wish we always filled the ballpark and sold as much merchandise as they do, or had their popular appeal. Same with Yankee fans. Cubs, even. Good for them. And if the Red Sox want to continue their tradition of singing Sweet Caroline while losing a game that probably doesn't matter due to the size of their lead, good for them.

Well, I thought it would be odd if you were taking offense at the mock-porn, since we've had a couple of small back-and-forths in the chatroom and, uh, I thought you took some rather offensive material well, but I wanted to make sure. I do know that there are some people b****ing about the "porn" being shown on this show. Glad you're not one of them. Good advice, though? Go hardcore if you want porn and stop settling for that soft HBO s***.

Haha, Contreras pitching on Halfway day -
I was surprised to see the blowjob and handjob and hear about this Lovelace documentary but it's HBO. It's an extra channel you've got to pay for. I hope nobody's complaining that it wasn't censored.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 07:34 PM) Yep, Ozzie and ARod have a great relationship. It's as good as Reinsdorf-Boras!
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 07:27 PM) I can't believe people even waste their time thinking of ideas of how the Sox can sign ARod. Well, that's why we kept Ozzie. To lure the free agents.
