Kind of funny if we traded for Pierre instead of Furcal.

Le sigh.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 06:59 AM) It's way too early to write off Sweeney at 22. It was a down year and all, but Delmon Young wasn't meeting anyone's expectations, either. I'd rather wait and see. Sweeney =/ Young Not sure I'd write him up or give up on him, but I expect him to be traded.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 07:33 AM) I will be really suprised if Cowher gets off the mat to coach again. I know how the league works on recycling coaches and all, but I really pegged Cowher as the type to say he is done and mean it. I don't think he ever said he was done. Just tired and needed a break and wanted to spend some family time. He'll be back and it'll be so weird.

Come on Astros, end it.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 09:54 PM) Hopefully Andy will start the 2008 season with the South Georgia Peanuts where he belongs. I agree he doesn't belong anywhere near a ML team, but like I said, I don't hold his mediocrity against him. At least he has decent at-bats, despite the fact that he can't hit worth a s***. -
Come on Astros, win. Get Lidge the win.

Why do we give Andy so much s***? He came here when he doesn't belong in the Majors, works hard, plays hard, has an alright approach at the plate, hustles...so he sucks, so what? He isn't, say, a slacker. He isn't hard to root for just because he sucks. Take it easy. -

I'd support moving Hawk to GM if it would keep him out of the broadcast booth. -

Looks like a bluff to me. If not, they're going to destroy themselves.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 02:39 PM) Pratt is the biggest Ozzie fan I know. Yeah. I love Ozzie. I've even compared him to LaRussa in the best way, rather than the worst. I defend just about everything about him that's defensible, and I've bashed his moves here and there, when I feel they're warranted. I've raised Qs about him. I don't blindly support him. But I love Ozzie, man, he's awesome. Guess I only like John Schuerholz and Bill Belichick. You know, for all the s*** I get for Schuerholz, and will get for Belichick, I am usually the first and most ardent defender of Ozzie when someone says, "Dumb move" and I pop in and say, "Not really." I've always been the first to defend him from the "HE HATES YOUNG PLAYERS!" nonsense. But hey...saying Lovie is good-not-great, man, what the f***? I hate Chicago. I may as well be Mariotti.

You shouldn't make the mistake of assuming that someone didn't or wouldn't do something just because you've seen a few nice things out of them first hand.

Floyd's arm beginning to convert some believers
Gregory Pratt replied to DBAHO's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't see where that says, "Konerko, Thome, Dye and AJ are as bad as they played this year." You say, I said "many of these players" not "all" and I didn't label these guys out specifically, but thanks for 'calling me' on the purple elephants that only you see in that post. -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 01:16 PM) So Thome, Dye, Konerko, AJP... all terrible players, huh? Not having a bad year, just bad players? When did I say that? I will add, consistent with that quote, that old man Thome, veteran(read:"old, worn and torn") catcher AJ Pierzynski, Konerko (the hipster whose power I see going down a tad and whose speed will remain the same...) and Dye (who might be electric, might be bad, might be middle -- won't be MVP-like ever again) is a terrible base to build from. It's just not a solid core of players anymore. It's one-dimensional, injury prone in two cases and not that good, overall. (Is Konerko a top ten first baseman? Sure. Bottom top ten. Dye top ten? Maybe. AJ? Bottom top ten.) And these are our stars? Not a good team to build off of. No youth, energy or versatility. Just the same old s***. Nowhere did I say that those players are bad players, though, but why would that matter? -
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 01:10 PM) Hey, that's just Rock being Rock. Lovie is the most successful coach from the Dungy tree (thus far, anyway), but I wouldn't go as far as to call him a Top 10 coach in the NFL. He just happens to work with the most brilliant defensive scout in all of football. Meatheads will point to the W/L record, no doubt, but in the end, dude is just not of the Belichick/Billick/Shanahan/Dungy/Gibbs/Reid/Fox/etc caliber. I have love for Lovie, though. While he might have some Dusty-like qualities, his football philosophy is sound, and he's excellent with young players. WHAT DOES HE NEED TO DO TO PROVE HE'S A TOP ONE OR TWO COACH TO YOU?

I love College. I'm copy editor of the school paper now. Opinion writer, too. Lots of work. Fun times, though. Cooking for a few of us on Saturday. Really enjoyed the parties so far, the people, the atmosphere. Hate the homework but only one of my classes has actual homework, so it's all good.

WOOT! THREE WAY TIE FOR LAST PLACE IN MLB!
Gregory Pratt replied to kapkomet's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 01:08 PM) I dont think ive ever even typed the word signability. Nobody has ever taken a 20-something pick 1st just to be safe. It just doesnt happen. Just because it hasn't doesn't mean it can't. By the way, I don't think we'll go that bad...but I've said all along I'd laugh pretty good. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 01:06 PM) Ok, well then we can just chalk it up to you not being familiar with the amateur baseball draft. Says the guy who says that nobody has ever taken a #1 pick because of signability. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 01:05 PM) Hahahaha. Leave it to you to say agree to disagree when all you ever do is disagree with everything said on this site. You arent happy with any coach, gm or owners of any team in chicago. No coach is considered great unless they are in another city. We can agree to disagree if you like. But there arent many people who are familiar with sports that will disagree with Lovie Smith being one of the top coaches in the NFL. Oh, and I think Scott Skiles is a great coach. Ozzie, too, but all I ever do is hate everybody in Chciago1111
