  1. Just wanted to point out that Jenks is now tied for the MLB lead in Save Percentage. Not that he is having a tremendous year on the mound or anything but he is still quite effective in closing out games.
  2. QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 18, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) AJ sucks. He really does. I can't stand the sight of him anymore.
  3. Beckham currently has a higher OPS then Konerko. Beckham now has the highest batting average on the team. Beckham is behind only Jim Thome in OBP. I like Beckham.
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) LOL wow. That didn't take long at all for people to jump off the Anderson train. Jesus. I never got on board
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 03:56 PM) You are using sample size Just to clarify, I didn't take a "sample size." Those were Kinsler's season total numbers. I did not extrapolate anything. I don't think Kinsler should have won the MVP, I just think that Pedroia winning it is a joke.
  6. Pedroia Avg - .326 Kinsler Avg - .319 Pedroia HR - 17 Kinsler HR - 18 Pedroia RBI - 83 Kinsler RBI - 71 Pedroia SB - 20 Kinsler SB - 26 Pedroia OPS - .869 Kinsler OPS - .892 Pedroia - 317 MVP Points Kinsler - 1 10th Place Vote The biggest difference may have been games played, 157 for Pedroia and 121 for Kinsler Was Pedroia even the Best Second Baseman in the AL?
  7. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 01:13 AM) Is that a Little Big League reference? And wasn't it griffey who they said should die like said dog? It was from Little Big League but Bowers (Jonathan Silverman) actually said it about Dave Magadan.
  8. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 08:31 AM) He is a stud if you ask some people around here. Paulie sucking has definitely gotten more of the fans attention but has anyone really looked at what Swisher has done in July? He is batting an awesome .186 with 4 extra base hits in 70 AB's. An OPS of .662. That's basically Jerry Owens like numbers without the threat of a stolen base. In fact, if you look further, Swisher has only one month this year where he has hit over .213. This month, Paulie actually has a better average (albeit a still sucky .218) and he has 3 extra base hits in 55 AB's. I guess my point is they both suck. I don't disagree with benching Paulie but I want Swisher's sorry a** on the bench too.
  9. Best Player in White Sox History. With a career average of .302, Thomas is one of four players in baseball history with at least a .300 average, 500 home runs, 1,500 RBIs, 1,000 runs and 1,500 walks. The others are Mel Ott, Babe Ruth and Ted Williams. Decent company.
  10. The funniest part of the Tigers/Sox 2000 brawl was when Palmer initially charged the mound, he got like ten feet from Parque he threw his helmet at him. My favorite brawl goes back to 1991 when Thigpen hit the A's Terry Steinbach in the head. That fight exploded into a great brawl including some bat throwing. Steinbach was taken out on a stretcher.
  11. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 01:17 PM) I know it's not directly a stat related to the White Sox, however, NO team in MLB history has started 0-7 and made the playoffs. In fact only a few have even gotten to .500. I realize this is a unique situation but if the Red Sox can beat up on them the next 2 games and we can do the same this weekend, we could put them in a world of hurt... If the stat holds true again this year, perhaps we'll be competing for the division versus CLE instead of DET? Maybe KC? ;-) Well, taking a look at last years final standings, in order for them to get to 96 Wins, which was the total it took to win the AL Central last year, they would have to go 96 and 59 the rest of the way. That's a .619 Win%. No one was over .593 last year. It can be done but their start is definitely not helping them
  12. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 05:04 PM) What bothers me most is 3 bad calls by 3 different umpires I know, we better not have any close plays at third base, he's next
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) is the call as bad as Farmer and Stone make it sound? YES
  14. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:50 PM) LOL "look at frickin Michaels out there" -DJ 3/31/08 That was hilarious
  15. Anderson 2006 - 365 AB's, .225 Avg, .290 Obp, .359 Slg, 8 HR, 33 Rbi, 4 SB, 7 CS Owens 2007 - 356 AB's, .267 Avg, .324 Obp, .312 Slg, 1 HR, 17 Rbi, 32 SB *, 8 CS * 8th in the AL in SB in 93 games If Owens is healthy, I would rather have him on the team. To me , it would be nice to have one guy on the team who can steal a base whenever he gets on. It just puts more pressure on whoever is pitching when a speed guy like Owens is on base. Also, factor in how each player finished. Anderson hit .200 with an Obp of .235 in the last month of 2006. That doesn't exactly leave most people wanting more (especially when you include his awful, albeit brief start to 2007). Owens hit .340 with an Obp of .396 and 10 SB's in the last month of 2007. If you were the manager, you wouldn't be slightly excited by what a healthy Owens could bring to the table?
  16. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Aug 9, 2007 -> 08:47 AM) he's been great recently, but he also leads the AL in blown saves, so let's not get too excited here. Compare his blown saves to other closers in baseball who have had that many chances: F. Cordero - 40 SVO, 6 blown, 57% of team's total Wins Saved J. Valverde - 39 SVO, 5 blown, 53% of team's total Wins Saved B. Jenks - 37 SVO, 5 blown, 60% of team's total Wins Saved J. Borowski - 35 SVO, 4 blown, 48% of team's total Wins Saved T. Jones - 35 SVO, 5 blown, 48% of team's total Wins Saved J. Putz - 35 SVO, 2 blown, 53% of team's total Wins Saved C. Cordero - 32 SVO, 8 blown, 46% of team's total Wins Saved With the exception of Putz, Bobby has been on par with other closers with 32 or more chances and he has saved 60% of our wins this year. I think he's doing fine.
  17. Series win on the road against the Angels. Series win on the road against the Twins. Pretty freaking good. Let's take care of business at home now.
  18. QUOTE(maggliopipe @ May 10, 2007 -> 01:48 PM) It's great to see Jose with his ERA currently down to 4.10 after the horrific start to the season. If he can get a couple more nice innings here and get it under 4, Danks (4.33) would be the only starter with an ERA north of 4. And Danks is only over four because of the flyball vs Detroit that three fielders let drop.
  19. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 10, 2007 -> 07:55 AM) Morneau hit 4 homers off of Contreras in the first inning And it was Ozzie's fault
  20. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 02:57 PM) Didnt realize he did play yesterday, I was flip flopping through channels and didnt stick with the Sox until the 8th started. This is still a bit questionable though. Yeah, something was up because they brought Ozuna in as a defensive replacement for Dye which didn't make any sense. One could only assume that something was wrong with JD.
  21. Dye was in the lineup yesterday. He was taken out in the eight for Pablo Ozuna. However, I did not hear why and the Sox haven't mentioned it yet today.
