  1. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 11:27 AM) I wonder if Sox are planning on bringing him up for September callup Hope he continues this pace and gets a cup in Sept and Ramirez is moved in the off season or through waivers.
  2. 1. Garica 2. Johnson 3. Hawkins 4. Anderson 5. Semien 6. Thompson 7. Jacobs 8. Sanchez 9, Johnson 10. Rienzo
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 09:09 PM) I can't believe I'm actually rooting to lose. i know, it feels wrong, but no point winning useless games when we have a chance for the #1 pick #RoadToRodon
  4. for f*** sakes #roadtorodon..... at least the 'stros won
  5. now that Q is off the hook lets loose this in'13 white sox fashion #roadtorodon
  6. Notgraphs has a video scouting report of Marcus set to John Mulaney its pretty good!
  7. Its a solid return for Peavy. I trust the sox ability to develop pitchers especially the likes of Francellis Montas. The sox just haven't produced the same results with hitters. Having said that I look at Avisail and i see the potential to become Jose Guillen at the mid point and a right handed Cargo if everything maxes out, at a better defensive position in RF, his floor is free swinging player that never put it together. I look forward to seeing what the sox do with the money saved with regards to rios/ramirez/dunn.
  8. Avisail Garcia has a great hit tool and is young (22) but his walk rate is bad the last thing the sox need is another f***ing free swinger, hopefully he develops like Carlos Gomez minus the speed and defense.
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:47 PM) Apparently only money is holding up a deal for Peavy to ARZ, according to MLBTR Eaton, Owings Holmberg Davidson in that order
  10. It schould'nt matter about their handedness, Sale and Quintana are top ten AL pitchers, Santiagonshows an other worldly Arm and based off his potential could very well join them next year in that discussion and John Danks should return to normal after 18months back. The "real" question is what are they going to do when they have an all LH rotation in '15 with Rodon? Sale Santiago Quintana Danks Rodon
  11. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 11:38 AM) It would be nice if Semien and M. Johnson continue to progress. They would be an ideal 1-2 punch at the top of the Sox lineup. I too was saying that earlier this year before Semien heated up. With Micah's promotion to A+ there are a couple of things of note in his SSS at Winston-Salem. 1.) his walk rate has plummeted to 1.9% but his strike out rate is down 6.6% its only 12.4%. 2.) his BABIP is .384 at A+ down 34 points from A, which for someone with his legs isn't necessarily a bad thing as some people tend to believe a higher BABIP in the minors also represents a stronger hit tool. I really hope one of Johnson or Semien can develop to be a solid major league regular. Both of them at the top of the order would be wonderful.
  12. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:30 AM) Because we all know the general public is made up of brilliant well educated respectful people. Count me in the group that thinks rios would have been dead if he waited to tag and the ball drops in front of a not diving lough. Whatever another step closer to a higher draft pick. At least we got to see sale throw a gem. I'm with you there, Also what are we going to do when we have the #1 selection and pick up Carlos Rodon and he blows through the system (wishful thinking) maybe by then Danks will be back to his old 3WAR self and we can move him ala Peavy this deadline/offseason.
  13. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) Who was the last Sox prospect to finish with more walks than k's? Jeremy Reed almost a decade ago? As for reed and bringing about those negative feelings; Reed did have a 10.3BB% to go along with a 6.7K% but his BABIP was .423 now obviously he batted .409 that season and that isn't sustainable, but when we look at Marcus he has a BABIP of .315 after this game hes .002 points below his career average and .007 below his career high and he has a 17.1BB% and 13.5K% QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 12:21 AM) Carlos Sanchez was pretty close in one of his stops last year if I remember correctly. Sanchez finished AA last year with 10BB & 22k and didn't have his BB% overtake his K% at any of the stops last year.
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 11:45 AM) Our current CF had 2.7 WAR last year and would be doing the same this year had he not forgotten how to catch fly balls earlier this season thats why the sox should be moving Reed this deadline or offseason for someone like Adam Eaton or Jackie Bradley Jr. if the bosox reup with Ellsbury. I think Jones or Daniel Webb could handle closing games.
  15. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 10:08 AM) You have to make the Cardinals pay more than that. Butler and Blazek are C prospects; Adams is their backup 1B and figures to stay there. WE could use Adams, but not for this trade. I agree with the above comment - do that for Alexei and Lindstrom. thats what I'm saying Alexei is the only short stop on the market and the opitions are thin going into the offseason. He is due 2.6 remaing for this season, 9.5 next year 10 the following and 10 if you want him in '16 or a 1mil buy out, He will provide surplus value during the length of his deal. Adams strikes me as a cross between Adam LaRoche and Josh Willingham type of player(2WAR to career year 3.5WAR) The sox need someone at first base, and as you said Adams is just there back up hes not a great fielder and he isn't going to LF any time soon down in St. Louis so it makes sense to trade him. bottom line StL is trying to win a world series and needs someone to plug the gapping hole at SS its a sellers market and they match upnwell with the sox, They're going to have to pay a premium. Adams and two middle relief prospects seems fair.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 07:52 AM) Nice play for Semien last night at 3B. http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=29180265 There's a link to Hawkins double where he tried to stretch it to a triple. Bad play, but at least he was hustling. thanks for posting that link
  17. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 11:57 PM) I did. Back in 2010 I was talking this dude up and said the Sox need to trade for him after that monster 35 HR season. Less than 3 years later, the dude is an MVP candidate. Fair enough but "prospect experts" were incredibly skeptical.
  18. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 07:16 PM) MLBInsidersLive says Cardinals willing 2 offer Adams,Butler,Blazek to WhiteSox 4 Peavy,Ramirez. I would prefer to do Ramirez, Lindstrom and Crain for that package with a PTBNL based off Crains health and performance.
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 11:45 PM) Most of the regular readers here are pretty familiar with Marcus. He's a victim of a system that privileges potential and, more specifically, specific tools over holistic abilities. Marcus probably lacks any plus physical tool, so he's found himself pretty much off the radar. Well, he's now on it with his fantastic play. We're seeing: -at least adequate defense at both middle infield positions, possibly better -exceptional plate disciplines: a high walk total that outnumbers his strikeouts -some pop: he hit his 13th homer tonight -some stolen base ability, though it is sub-ideal for a potential leadoff hitter as some might see him So here's a thread to talk about him. A thread like this seemed to put Andy Wilkins on a hot streak, so why not another? Here's a question to start things off: If we trade Alexei Ramirez this week, should the White Sox call up Marcus Semien to play shortstop? Yes, players tend to goto AAA as finishing school for plate discipline or defense, sox are in a lost season, why not?
  20. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 11:20 PM) .370/.500/.716 That's insane. Since the ASB, Semien has an OPS of 1.600. I don't buy this back up talk at all. If he was in a system like the red sox or cubs he would be getting so much love and the majority of these "prospect experts" would be gushing over him. Keep it up Marcus, no one gushed over Paul Goldschmidt or Matt Carpenter either and look where they are. I hope the sox take a page out of the marlins book and promote him from AA.
  21. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 02:35 PM) Profar's reports/rep/stock definitely seems to be falling. like smoak/davis/olt before him
  22. Jon Heyman on the run down on mlb network saying the yankees need to shore up the left side of their infield looking at polanco and keppinger
  23. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 11:32 AM) Just read a trade deadline chat from CBSSports that Heyman tweeted. It was mentioned that he could see the Red Sox trading Allen Webster. Wonder if Hahn has asked about him as part of a package. webster/owen/ranaudo are all solid prospects, personally i like owen the most even though he is the farthest away. Any of those three along with Cecchini and swihart and I'm ecstatic.
