  5. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:03 PM) Love the selection of Parker by the Diamondbacks. He's the type of pitcher I'd love for the White Sox to have. Perhaps next year they'll have an opportunity.
  6. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 12:56 PM) Phillips actually makes a good point about putting them as starters to let them develope their pitches and improve command. isn't that what were doing with long?
  7. gammons, hammel is up with the big club
  8. fun times, can't wait for this to start, callis has chimed in with his day of Mock Draft Link on a side note Asheville is where my mother lives. woo woo
  9. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 10:24 PM) Same here... I wanted a Aybar + maybe a little something else out of Crede in the offseason... + 1 i wanted willits and aybar.
  10. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 10:01 PM) I have to say I like baeutox's the best... That team would gain some youth and be able to compete on a nightly basis. Also, I love how you got Salty in there. He is involved in my "if I was GM" plan as well thank you. i'd like to see your take on if you were "GM"
  11. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 11:03 PM) How else would you describe Fields? He'll be a K monster next year. He is a K monster down in AAA. Crede's not very good, either. Caught lightning in a bottle last year and that was that. Yeah, well, that'll only comfort me depending on what we get in free agency, but I suspect we'll be picking up someone like Byrnes more than Ichiro. K's don't make or break a player, provided they have a respectable walk rate, josh has that. As for the defensive end i think he will wind up along the lines of brandon inge. Josh has shown he can control the zone in a small sample size at the show last year. 5BB/8SO, i can live with that. Last year Ryan Howard struck out 181 times, but batted over .300, how he did that i have no idea lol. Point being strike outs aren't the worst thing in the world. also i'll go on record and say that fields is a blue chip 5 tool prospect with 30/30 potential, provided his legs stay under him. People underrate his defense. its no GG, but he has the potential and athleticism and work ethic to make it happen.
  12. by letting mark, dye and iguchi walk, and moving crede and jose there is more than enough money to sign a top flight FA CF. If were going to sell off, were going to need a move that counter balance some of the negative press.
  13. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 11:02 PM) We're supposedly 25th, I would say we're optimistically closer to 20, but we're still pretty close to a bottom quartile minor league organization. The ultimate goal is top quartile in winning pct. and 3rd quartile in payroll, which is what the Twins, A's and Marlins (once) pulled off i don't buy that were 25th, id say 18/20ish. i was merely pointing out that we're not the worst, i believe that title goes to the nats.
  14. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) Williams is the GM. Having the worst farm system in major league baseball can be laid directly at his feet. At the major league level, I agree that he's been adequate -- no terrible moves of late and no great ones either. But the minor league system is a debacle that may doom the Sox to irrelevance for a decade. It's not unreasonable to call for him to be fired for that. he defiantly doesn't have the worst farm system, its maso menos. pretty middle of the pack.

  17. QUOTE(pale_hose @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) I heard on Fox today that the Sox and Yankees talked about this, but obviously nothing has happened yet..why would you trade dye abreu? Nothing here would be accomplished at all...They are the exact same player and are both on their way out...the only difference is that Abreu bats lefty..who cares...why wouldnt you trade Dye for a good young player like Figgins or Crawford...both teams have shown interest in him...and i figure they can have him b/c he isnt getting any younger and will be extremely expensive...what are the chances of landing Figgins or Crawford? I would love to see Dye and maybe Lance Broadway or somebody of that nature for Carl Crawford... Figgins isn't young, and crawford is going to cost alot of good pitching and prolly one of or both of Cunningham and Carter. The d-rays have no need for dye anyways.
  18. Scott Radinsky Punk Rock annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd Baseball??? what more could i ask for?
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 02:51 AM) Sanchez was who I was instantly thinking of as well. He could be used as another lefty in the pen if acquired right now, or converted into a starter. Because there's really not a whole lot else in the Giants roster which makes me giddy. I suppose you could maybe make an argument for acquiring a Durham or a Randy Winn, but I'd be more interested in the Giants minor league talent instead. +1, Great minds think alike The Giants are 5.5 back of the dodgers, padres and d-backs, they've got the SP to get it done and stay in the WC and West races. also as some have suggest, if we chose Sanders, i wouldn't be opposed to lettng mack/pablo start at 2B next year, possibly even see what getz has while we wait on the development of Sanders or for a FA solution to come along.
  20. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 31, 2007 -> 12:24 PM) They won't keep him for $6M, but they will for $5. Name a "young SS with upside that's cheap" that you can acquire without giving up anyone off the proverbial 3-year board. Didn't think so. Uribe stays. The Braves are already stacked at SS Edgar Renteria is locked up till 09 and i don't forsee him going anywhere Then they've got the following: Andrus, Lillibridge & Fontaine I think Broadway would be enough to get him, and as it appears now he doesn't look to have a future on the south side.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 12:26 AM) They have nothing I want. i would gladly take the following off their hands for joe crede. either of their up and coming 2B Frandsen or Sanders. Frandsen is a slap hitting 2B with decent speed who doesn't strike out much but also doesn't walk much his OBP is reliant on putting the ball in play. Sanders is a bit further away hes currently at the giants single A affiliate Augusta, and was hampered all last season with shoulder a injury, he could move very quickly and possibly taste AAA by seasons end seeing how Frandsen is with the big club he should move quickly. He hasn't show much in the power department but he does have very good speed(3triples 13SB/1CS) and a great eye(20SO/19BB). Aside from both of them i wouldn't mind Jonathan Sanchez another project lefty with great stuff. Recently sent down to AAA Fresno Why not see what Cooper can do with Sanchez. So far he's been able to make Logan look respectable and Thornton look great, The book is still out on Sisco.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2007 -> 11:39 AM) So out of curiousity, for those who want to see it, if Kenny Williams were to sell off all of the marketable older parts in the next couple of months, how many of you still be buying tickets to ballgames in September and into 2008? How many would wait for the team to recover and get good again before they went to games again? I know a few people's answers (Steff, I know you will be there), but I am curious to hear if those who are supporting a firesale would still support them team financially. this guy right here, i will also be attending a fair amount of games at Charlotte seeing how my mom lives in Ashville.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 30, 2007 -> 11:54 PM) Couldn't agree more. I'll let someone else deal with finishing that project. I'm just not a fan of knuckle ball pitchers because they have a lot of things going against them (especially the slow deliver that turns any baserunner into an instant double). thats not always true, it depends on who the back stop is, i remember Stewart gunned down Sizemore twice last season with chuck on the mound. Chuck will get it together again, i've got faith in him. he doesn't seem like someone to walk away from a challenge.
