  1. Agreed, there is still time for someone to step up in Adolfo, Rutherford or Gonzalez but that light is dimming.
  2. Lets go down the list Verdugo has 4 years of control left and Boston is rebuilding Waters is blocked by Pache, Inciarte and Acuna and was dangled at the trade deadline. Marsh is blocked by Trout, Adell, Upton and Ohtani Carlson is blocked by O'Neill, Bader and Fowler
  3. I'm willing to concede due to Covid and lack of attendance / collusion this year and likely up till June of next year that salaries will be depressed.
  4. Quintana had thumb surgery after a dish washing injury, its not like he blew out his forearm or his shoulder.
  5. I'm fine with him getting less, but I think anyone that thinks hes going to need a bounce back contract is kidding themselves. Quintana just fits this club and franchise on so many levels. Also remember Keuchel only pitched half a season with the braves to the tune of .08 fWAR before getting his deal, Jose will be the same age as Dallas was when his deal starts.
  6. Here are my thoughts Let EE, Gio Gonzalez and Cishek all walk and pay the buy outs. Exercise Leury's option. Try to extend and lock up Giolito Re-sign McCann for 3/24 with a vesting option with buy out. Sign Quintana to a near identical deal as Keuchel; he has friends in the club house, familiarity with the staff and has played his whole career in Chicago, adds an additional veteran presence to the staff and helps the complexion of the rotation 3 RHSP & 2 LHSP. Sign Brantley or Pederson to be the long half of the platoon with Engel or make a move for one of the following: Alex Verdugo of the red sox, Drew Waters of the braves, Brandon Marsh of the angels or Dylan Carlson of the cards. 2021 Opening Day DH - Abreu C - Grandal# 1B - Vaughn 2B - Madrigal SS - Anderson 3B - Moncada# LF - Jimenez CF - Robert RF - Verdugo* C - McCann UT - Mendick UT - Garcia# OF - Engel SP - Giolito SP - Keuchel* SP - Cease SP - Quintana* SP - Dunning CL - Bummer* SU - Heuer SU - Foster SU - Marshall MR - Cordero MR - Fry* MR - Burdi LR - Rodon* Batting order just to finish the #rosterbation Anderson Moncada# Robert Abreu Grandal# Jimenez Vaughn Verdugo* Madrigal
  7. 1B/DH - Abreu locked up till age 35 '22 C - Grandal locked up till age 34 '23 1B - Vaughn locked up till age 29 '27 2B - Madrigal locked up till age 29 '26 SS - Anderson locked up till age 31 '24 3B - Moncada locked up till age 30 '25 LF - Jimenez locked up till age 29 '26 CF - Robert locked up till age 29 '27
  8. Pretty sure bWAR doesn't take into account framing last i checked. Personally I would like to see something like this for the white sox off-season Remove EE, Gio Gonzalez, Cishek from the roster paying out the 3.25M for the option buy outs and retained salaries (Herrera & Konerko) After ARB the sox payroll should be sitting between 96-100M Re-sign McCann to a market rate 3/24 with a club option and buy out Sign Bauer for one year or Quintana to a similar deal to Keuchel 3/$55 with a vesting option based on inning pitcher or something similar Depending on how Mazara performs from here on out you keep or DFA, if he is DFA'd sign the long half of the platoon for Engel in Joc Pederson or Brantley, in the current market conditions I don't see a situation where they're going to get paid massively from their current contracts or you can trade to free up some space for a prospect or young major leaguer on a struggling team. The AFL this year is going to be the strongest its ever been due to covid. after those moves (in this scenario I see us reuniting with Quintana) The sox payroll is at $122-126 that is roughly our high water mark from over a decade ago ($127,789,000 in 2011 & $121,189,332 in '08) if the royals are a billion dollar franchise in addition to the minors moving to a A, AA, AAA schedule, I see no reason the sox can't match a decades old water mark in terms of top payroll when its officially year 1 of the window.
  9. I've subscribed to his channel for a while and his break downs of his starts are amazing. A modern era Stone, I walk away after watching with a much greater appreciation for the game we all love.
  10. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29782890/2021-mlb-draft-move-july-held-atlanta-all-star-events new information from Kiley McDaniel with how the draft and minors appear to be moving forward.
  11. This team....God Damn talk about playoff atmosphere. There is something different and special about this club and I love it!
  12. Nice inning by Fry. Glad they gave Cruz the pass, happy to see RR wasn't asleep at the wheel.
  13. I expect him to go on a Tim Hudson rookie year like rampage.
  14. Marte & Bradley for Stiever, Lopez & Rutherford.
  15. Knowing Hahn and KW I think what they do is completely off the radar. Marte, Bradley and Ray for Stiever, Lopez, Adolfo and Mazara. Essentially Ray for Mazara -> Diamondbacks get a replacement for Marte with 1 year of control for a distressed asset in Ray that hasn't delivered in his contract year. Bradley for Stiever and Adolfo -> Bradley has this year and all of next year Marte for Lopez -> Marte has this year and next and then is a FA. Reylo has 3 years of control Stiever has 6 years of control Adolfo has 6 years of control Mazara has 1 year of control after this
