  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 3, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) See my last point. If it moves that slowly, you will get a lot of bored owners. I agree, the most active league I've ever been a part of use to sim 10-15 games three to four times a week.
  2. QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 3, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) There is so much wrong with this post. 1) 6.5 was great, but far from perfect. Recent versions of the game have been better (improved game engine, better development, more realistic progressions). That being said, I've bought it yearly since OOTP 6 and have no intentions of buying another version anytime soon, as their dev team is one of the worst around. 2) 1-100 ratings are for noobs that want things spelled out for them. 1-10 is better, 2-8 is best. 3) That Mark Prior thing can't be serious, can it? He was once a great pitcher so he was rated as a beast. Now he's a fringe player, so he's rated as a fringe player. What do you expect it to do? You were right about one thing, though. It's tough to say how good a team is without seeing the ratings. So congrats! You're 1/4.. still doing better than Mark Kotsay. There is so much wrong with my post? There's so much wrong with your passion for a simulated baseball game. Relax, champ. 1) 6.5 was perfect for me, I enjoyed it. 2) fine, I'm a noob, I was never able to go professional and I'm still upset about that. 3) the Mark Prior statement was a joke. That would put me at 2/4, I'll take .500
  3. Also, depending on the league set up, past stats can be just as crucial as their overall ratings.
  4. IMHO OOTP isn't even worth playing if it's not 6.5 It's like they keep trying to improve on something that was already perfect. Like everyone else said, without seeing the ratings (i preferred 1-100 rather than 1-10 when I played), there's no way to give an opinion. I haven't looked at a league in awhile, have they fixed Mark Prior being an absolute beast in every league yet?
  5. QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 11:11 AM) maybe quentin and viciedo could be offered up for rasmus?? two DH's to a NL team for a good young outfielder?
  6. I may be off but wasn't this talked about during the draft and the reason he fell as low as he did because of the concern he would be injury prone?
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 07:11 AM) RIP Mr. Santo. Listening to the Cubs lose on the radio won't be the same without you. This just became my FB status, with a 'hat tip' to you of course. Thanks.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 19, 2010 -> 11:32 PM) Magglio was my hero when I was little. That being said, f*** Maggs. I once saw him go to throw a baseball to a kid in 2008...only to fake a throw and run the ball in on the third out. I once saw Mags burn down an orphanage and speed away laughing with the only water supply in a five mile radius.

QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Nov 9, 2010 -> 07:42 PM) It was an article titled, One Year Ago: Early November 2009 Which would explain why I found nothing on the team website. *takes rope down from tree* they had it next to Vizquel signing and...I saw their names, skipped the big print and panicked. Sorry all.
  13. I just read that on mlb trade rumors but there's no link to confirm. In a panic, I went to whitesox.com and couldn't find anything there. Can anyone confirm or deny?
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 4, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) Boardwalk Empire and Dexter have both jumped in front of SOA for me this season. But like someone said, it's on a Tuesday so there's not much else to watch. Gonna see him this month. I'm sure he's great in person, I caught him on netflix.
  15. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Nov 4, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) I don't know, this season hasn't really kept me interested at all. Now that Boardwalk Empire, Survivor, and Dexter are on I am having a hard time finding time to watch Sons, and it hasn't bothered me where last season it would have. I actually defended the slow story lines a few weeks back in this thread, but its getting to the point where something has to happen soon. I laugh every time I think of Survivor now, I saw a comedian the other day and his bit was about Survivor. He was like, think about it, no wonder why everybody hates America. We have a TV show where you can win a million dollars if you can tolerate living in a place where people already live. I'm sure you'd have to hear it from him to find it as funny as I did.

I actually defended the slow story lines a few weeks back in this thread, but its getting to the point where something has to happen soon. yeah Boardwalk Empire turned into something special to watch. Sons is on Tuesday and I got nothing else to watch that day regardless. As long as people continue to die via explosion/gunfire it will rank high in my book. I'm simple like that...
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 4, 2010 -> 09:46 AM) I will say it's time for me to fess up and say that I'm a bit disappointed in this SOA season. It's been entirely enjoyable, of course, but certainly not up to par. So much of it is unbelievable... like Jax could sit next to the man who knows where his kid is and not go ballistic is totally unbelievable. All this bulls*** they are doing in Ireland is just dumb, and for the love of God the Gemma storylines have been unbearable. Add to that the BS going on back in Charming, and it's just a frustrating season. I want to see some good old gun running and porn operations back in Charming with a dose of drug-stopping. And now we have to deal with Tara being abducted, let alone the unbelievable storyline of her boss caring about her after she beat her ass. It's just been a letdown. I still love it, and look forward to it, but it's a letdown this year. I can't argue any of your points, the only thing I can say is that at least there's action every week. They definitely had to take them out of Charming for awhile though, if they stayed there every season the show wouldn't last long. They are taking for granted that the audience gives a s*** about Tara and whether she gets abducted, the new recruits in Charming look like high school kids that get picked on and the Able storyline has been old since the second week. With all that being said, it is my favorite show going right now (sitting next to The League).

    Black Friday

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) I remember reading that. I guess for us there's not really any "must-have" or even big-ticket things on our list. Our kids have mostly out-grown toys and are more into video games, clothes and music. I hear that plasma TV's are suppose to drop in price by like 20% around the holidays. I was hoping to find a couple 32" for the kids rooms. I'm always looking for a deal anyway, whether it's off the back of a truck or black friday/cyber monday makes no difference to me.

    Whats your status?

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) Hey, at least you can f*** whomever you want. This. Oh yeah, married...unfortunatly.
  22. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) I'd wanna be the "HOT dogs!" man. Who doesn't know him?! he got nothing on the "beer is your buddy, buy a friend" guy...
  23. Luke Scott? older player on a bad team.
  24. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 09:25 AM) I think it would have to be a move for Fielder or Dunn. I'm not sure I'd call trading for a guy like Ted Lilly significant. but would Steve Stone think that's significant is the question... We'll get someone but I'm willing to bet, that someone is a name nobody's heard and we didn't even know he was available.
  25. I wonder who KW was talking about when he said Ozzie called him about a player and he told him to cut him without caring who it was.
