AND THAT'S A PERFECT GAME WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Tuna replied to SoxFan1's topic in 2012 Season in Review
So, if anyone has ever seen the movie Fever Pitch, impaticularly the part where he goes out with his girl to show her he loves her more than watching a Red Sox/Yankee game, the Red Sox make it an epic game and he missed the whole game and started yelling at his girl...that was my day today and I think I may be getting a divorce. I'm still more upset about missing the game than I am about the divorce. -
Shout Box would be a solid addition to this board during the season.

Among other priceless quotes, "respectable white people are Cub fans". Are these guys serious?

Soxbadger, After reading several of your posts, I've decided to hire you after I win megamillions tonight. Please be online after the drawing.

Every report I read had the guaranteed money at "close to 14 mil". With that being said, Forte isn't doing himself any favors here. It's not like the deadline passed on being able to negotiate a long term contract (I believe that's July 17th). Signing FA's is a lot more time sensitive right now. After they make the signings that are crucial to be competitive this year then they will have a better idea of what they can give Forte. I like that the Bears pretty much stripped him of any leverage from holding out. I love Forte as a player, but at the same time, these athletes need to man up. Stop crying to the media and keep it in house. If the deadline passes and you still don't have a deal, tweet all you want...I might even agree with you at that point.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) Listen. Most NFL players don't have these issues. They've all had certain problems. If you think the majority of the league has the issues Marshall has than I'd be stunned. I try not to make judgments by what I read in the media, I was once a victim of that myself and I can tell you first hand that some reports that we read are not entirely true. Sometimes, they are blatant lies or misleading the public on purpose. With that being said, I am not inviting the man over for Thanksgiving dinner. If I notice my son asking for Brandon Marshall jerseys, I will point the bad qualities out and explain to him why they're wrong. That's my job. Most if not all franchises in the NFL have a problem player whether it be for rape (allegedly Big Ben), murder (Ray Lewis), DUI (Aldon Smith, Braylon Edwards, Knowshon Moreno, Cedric Benson, Michael Bush -the list goes on-), eluding police and obstruction (Kenny Brit), Brandishing a hand gun (Chris Cook, Plaxico Burress), Dog Fighting (Michael Vick)...I can do this all day.

As long as they don't have their logo on the uniforms (there were no conditions to the donation), then I don't have a problem with it.
-
Indirectly, of course they are. If they aren't happy with the service I give them then they go somewhere else. If my boss sees unhappy customers going to the competition, I don't have a job. Trust me, I know the customers you're talking about. I work in rental, after you deal with a bride's mother on her wedding day you'll get a new appreciation for what defines a difficult customer.
-
If you take tips out of the equation, then a waiter's job is no different than any other customer service based job. So, that would mean that if you're getting paid your hourly wage, you are expected to give good customer service if you want to keep your job. There are parts of everyone's job that they don't paticularly like, but as a adult, you have to grin and bear it if you want to pay the rent. That's the "concept" I'm having trouble grasping.

Like in the movie Casino.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 24, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) So let me get this straight CW...she cheated on you a long time ago? You've been dating for a while and you found out somehow that she cheated on you a long time ago? Things were fine since she stopped until you accidentally found out? I'm not a huge fan of marriage or the modern idea of how couples "should" be together. I'm also not into open relationships, but I question whether humans have evolved enough to where being with one other person your entire life is healthy... That completely got by me. If you've been together for 3 1/2 years and the affair happened in say the first 6 months, it's possible this can be repaired (IMO) with some counseling.

2012. I'll let them prove me wrong, until then, they have my support.

QUOTE (3E8 @ Feb 24, 2012 -> 02:25 PM) CW is in shock still. Because this is his first relationship, I think he is finding it especially hard to trust us over his feelings right now. and that's completely normal. I know I thought nobody has ever felt the way I did about Katharine, so nobody could possibly understand. I almost went out and tattooed her name on me to prove how much I loved her after she broke up with me. I was off the reservation. I haven't even talked about this in 15 years, the stories are still embarrassing after all this time.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 07:40 AM) I'd rather not get into details.. just wondering if others have similar experiences and want to know if/how they got through it Papa Moe said it best, "I'd rather be shot in the stomach than have a b***** break my heart". It doesn't feel like you'll ever get over it, but you will. Everyone has gone through this and it's not easy. I think I'd rather have it happen the way you did (rip it off like a band aid) rather than a woman just deciding she doesn't want to be with you. There's no wondering (or trying) if you can change her mind. You have no choice but to move on.

I may be in over my head here, I'm not a lawyer and have never studied anything remotely close. With that being said, I agree with both sides of the argument to a certain degree. The one thing that keeps standing out to me is SHACK. Your stance on how she can be openly gay at school and still have the right to privacy has me confused. School is not a sexual sanctuary, it's not Vegas, what happens there is public knowledge. If they found out after having a heart to heart conversation, that's one thing, but to be openly gay in a public forum is...well, public. I'm not trying to attack you and there's a good chance that if I haven't "gotten" it 13 pages in then I never will.

Here is the best tip you may ever get in your life regarding children. If your child is colicky (even slightly), put him/her under a ceiling fan. It will change your life. I really enjoy being a father, my youngest is 4, every so often she'll pat my head and tell me "you're a good boy, daddy"...swear to god it's the best thing in the world. Can't even explain it.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) OK. Do you really believe there is value in the competition for kids who are nine and ten years old? Kind of. I believe the foundation is being set, it's bigger than the game being played. It's about kids understanding they won't always win and when you do win, how to win graciously. They are starting to understand what being on a team means and trying hard to help their teammates succeed. In a perfect world of course...

Tell this kid you can't be competitive at 7.

The company I work for just bounced my payroll check, found out my family's insurance was canceled Nov 30th (because they haven't paid) and they haven't sent in the money they take out of my check for my IRA since October. I'm a area manager for a rental company. I do logistics, customer resolution, inventory control, hiring/firing, sales, training, scheduling, AR and I'm the key contact for our account customers. I don't have a college degree, but I've been at my current job for 6+ years. I also had a management position for a building maintenance company downtown before this job. I know most of you will think I'm crazy for not contacting the Department of Labor, and you are probably right. It's a family owned business and they tell me they'll take care of everything, but my trust in them is gone. That's why I'm exploring other opportunities at the moment. If anyone has any job leads for me, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 10:19 AM) Don't you remember the last storm, and the one before that, and the one before that? The hype machine happens with every snowfall of 5+ inches. I was referring more to the people in my area rather than the news. They've been going on about this since at least Monday.
-
I've never seen so much hype about 6 inches of snow. Just put the plow on, if you're in the CL area and get snowed in, I'll put my cape on.

A year and a half. Got married a year later. Should have waited longer, but hindsight is 20/20.

Jon Morosi has no credibility unless he can prove he's married to a distant family member of Gavin Floyd's wife.
