  4. QUOTE (chwhtsox @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) I'm reaching my 5 year anniversary and I find it fitting to finally break out of my shell and be more personable. Can you please change my name to Tuna...chwhtsox will forever be in the shadows of soxtalk. Thank you kindly. Today is my 5 year anniversary...please refer to me (and have my name reflect) Tuna from this day forward. Thank you.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Mar 28, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) The Yankees have far better resources (money, better farm system) to address their holes than we do. The Yankees may have a down year, but you can bet the next time a pitcher is available via trade or free agency, they'll be at the front of the line to acquire him regardless of cost. They actually tried that this year and the guy signed with Philly. I think the Yanks will have a down year, that's why I don't believe they should be used in your example of good teams we have to play.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Mar 28, 2011 -> 11:35 AM) If it was going to happen, why is Phil Humber the 5th starter. How can you worry about the holes on our team and use the Yankees as an example of teams we have to play? The Yankees are nothing more than a sexy name these days. EVERYONE has flaws right now, most are far worse than ours.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) We had a big need last year and weren't able to upgrade it at the deadline. That's a dangerous game to play for a team with such a thin system. Hopefully a major need doesn't arise. I agree. My point was that we have an active GM that's willing to do whatever necessary to improve the club if we have a shot. Win or lose he keeps it interesting.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) Its actually the same argument Bears fans made when Jay Cutler was acquired. Anything can happen, but I think the Sox should be fine this year. It's difficult to compare the two games, obviously nobody gave much thought into how Cutler would fit into the current system (back then) or timing with his recievers, etc...upgrading at DH should be pretty cut and dry. IMO nobody should be worrying about payroll other than JR. If we're in it by the break, money will become available or we'll trade for what we need. If we're out of it completely, I can guarantee we won't end the year with the same payroll. KW will make whatever trades neccessary whichever way this goes. We've had some success this past decade, there's no reason to be bitter like we have no shot. With that being said... Anyway the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me...

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) You are surprised a woman with over 50 bags of heroin in her vagina wasn't smart enough to do that? IDK I thought it was kinda elementary... stashing drugs in that manner is actually very common, usually in the prison system, it was the $51.22 that really threw me off.

I'm more disturbed that she didn't ask to go to the bathroom and flush the evidence rather than the act itself...is that wrong?
  16. QUOTE (Anderson Cooper's Quivering @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 12:11 PM) THANKS! I'm reaching my 5 year anniversary and I find it fitting to finally break out of my shell and be more personable. 17. The article doesn't say if the boyfriend is the father, is he or is the father in the picture? I couldn't imagine my reaction (nor do I want to think about it)... if it's too personal of a question, please disregard.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 08:06 AM) I've noticed that since having a child myself, its a lot harder for me to even read stories like that. I mean, they were always appalling. But now, I can barely even get through them. I know this may take away some macho points, but there were times shortly after my daughter was born that I had to stop reading or watching this sort of story because I was on the verge of tears. I just can't even fathom how a human being could do something like that to their own child. No, you got this right. I'm the exact same way, I see these stories on the news and then look at my little one...I just can't comprehend it. @ Lost, I'm sorry, man.
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 09:50 AM) My votes were "no" and "do nothing." I fail to see why we're in this mess. Let some other world power play the worlds police for a turn. We need to start focusing on problems within our borders, not beyond them. I am the other vote for no and nothing for the exact same reason.
  20. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 12:00 PM) Professional sports is really the only industry where the payroll takes up around 60% of the gross revenue. The owners are greedy but don't leave out the players. Yeah, but shouldn't it make a difference that the payroll/players are also the product?

I'm available to help plow people out of their homes if you live close to Crystal Lake. You must be a soxtalk member for 1 year minimum for this offer to be valid.

My company will be hiring several people around mid march. The decent paying position is called "logistics team leader". Its a fancy way of saying warehouse manager. There's a lot of labor involved with this position. The catch: the warehouse is in Marengo
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2011 -> 10:41 AM) Was it really 6 years ago? As for Mark Prior being dominant, he had nothing on Can O' Corn Yeah, the joke behind the Prior comment is that back when I played, every roster that came out, years after he was good (turned dog s***) he was rated as an absolute beast.
