  1. Shocker. Beckham can't handle a high fastball.
  2. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) He's a dog at 3B, though. You'll never see the 2011 Ramirez over extend himself at 3B and risk injuring that shoulder on the heel of perhaps his final multi year contract. Frontrunning dog. He's great when he's surrounded by other good hitters -- a very dangerous performer, particularly in the clutch. But rely on him and watch him fade. And Flash Tizzle is right; he won't lay out for balls at 3rd because of his shoulder. Oh, and he's a loafer out of the batter's box and on the bases. So, yeah, I'm not on board.
  3. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) I hope we get a bat out of this deal too I'd much prefer it, actually. In my view, dynamic position players -- that's a much greater need for this team. But perhaps receiving some good pitching enables Floyd or Danks to be moved for bats.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) How do the Guillen apologists not see how awful his in-game managing is? It was Ozzie's obsession with L-R-L-R-L-R that screwed him there. It's easy to pitch around Konerko when Dunn is behind him, particularly if that pitcher is left-handed.
  5. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 11:05 PM) So we have a manager that is incapable of using a bullpen properly and we gave him another body. Can't wait for the first 8 th inning pressure situation when ozzie leaves frasor warming up while he let's brunet or oh anger those stressful outs. The only thing more irresponsible would be adding another slappy guy to guillens arsenal. Well, De Aza is on the way . . .
  6. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:19 PM) cant really be that upset over this loss, we were at a disadvantage from the beginning with Javier Peavy on the mound, and a mgr who has no clue how to get a bullpen ready whe he's on the mound 2 homers, not much else rios blows, but valverde is good, b****ing about rios making an out there is laughable You're right. We should've expected Valverde to cool off the perpetually hot Alex Rios.
  7. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) You can't believe it? The 14 hopper to short is Alex's trademark. I'm just happy he didn't do it on the first pitch. I kid. At this point, with the way Rios has played, green font seemed truly unnecessary.
  8. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:15 PM) Great job Alex Rios! Get ready to get your butt benched Can't bench him -- we're "showcasing" him. LOL.
  9. I cannot believe that Alex Rios hit a 14 hopper to the shortstop. Suck city.
  10. QUOTE (Paulie4Pres @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:06 PM) Ozzie is a really smart manager. Pretty much gave this game away. True. And I don't want to hear that we can't go to the pen in the 6th. If Humber's not going to be used to piggyback Peavy, what the hell is he down there for?
  11. Wilson Betemit was truly one of the worst players in baseball when he was here. Terrible fielder. And, oh yeah, couldn't hit either.
  12. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) According to baseball-reference, opponents entering tonight were batting 24-for-59 off Peavy once he gets to 75 pitches Ozzie likes to see that number over .500 before he really buys it.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) Gutsy 6 innings of 4 runs allowed. Digging deep. Dirtball. Grimy and such.
  14. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:55 PM) Peavy's arm might fall off here. As far as I can tell, he's throwing mostly with his right karate-chopping leg. It's unique.
  15. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:50 PM) Leaving Peavy in pretty much shows the white flag Combination of Ozzie's imbecility and KW's order not to use Thornton because he's about to be traded with Dayan Viciedo for Sandy Alomar Jr.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:47 PM) I hate Ozzie so much. Way to know your personnel! I don't know. I mean, I always feel like Jake's going to get an out when he karate chops his leg to generate more velocity. It's real natural. In the future, you'll see, all pitchers will do this.
  17. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) That about sums up one Alex Rios in a nutshell. To me he is one of the worst overall baseball players the Sox have had in recent memory. He inspires NO confidence at all. When he gets a hit it's like the worst kid on the little league team actually making contact...you're just happy he didn't spike himself. Alex Rios is by far my most hated player on this team. He is pure garbage. Another in the growing list of Kenny Williams boondoggles. The thing with Rios is that it's so clear, even to a guy like me, what he's doing wrong at the plate. He tries to pull every pitch, and he does it with a stance and swing that cannot cover the outside corner. So that's where he's pitched, and all he does is wave at the damn ball. Add to that he has no bat speed, and there you go. I seriously laughed when Walker said last week that he was trying to get Rios to think "up the middle." First off, are we just realizing this, Greg? Second, why not get him to think "right field"? At least then, he'd be focused on facing his body to right instead of opening up constantly. God. Damn. It.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 12:03 PM) It wouldnt take much to outperform Alex Rios regardless of what numbers are inflated. I'm pretty sure anyone we brought up could at least give us something other than 2 ground outs and a pop up. It's like the Art of Rios. He's truly a master.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) No hustle by Rios on another weak chopper. Don't worry, he said he'll be better during the 2nd half. And a terrible swing on a terrible pitch, a high hanger that he managed to jam himself on. At this point, he's simply a brutally inept, chronically joyless baseball player. Hate watching him "play."
  20. Peavy is just flinging the ball up there. It's seriously unnatural at this point. The more fatigued he gets, or the more he tries to get on the ball, the more awkward his delivery becomes. That's not repeatability. That's dangerous.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) He won't he is the brass mouthpiece. Is it possible that both are true -- most callers are idiots AND Rongey isn't very good? I'm thinkin' yeah.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) How does Alex Rios have a job? How does Alex Rios not get booed out of the Cell? He.Is.Horrible. Doesn't care. Doesn't look like he cares.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 02:53 PM) 87 MPH fastball tailing in. Quentin can't touch it. Unbelievable. You knew that Quentin would struggle on the day he made the All-Star team. Such a headcase.
