Stoney, when talking about Gene Lamont, you forgot to mention "and a bad manager."

I'm not a huge advocate of hitting guys, but you do have to wonder if the White Sox hitters are wondering why the hell we're not retaliating.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) He's going to have to be pretty bad to reach Scott Ruffcorn status. I don't think Ruffcorn ever had a good inning. I'm not talking outing, I'm talking inning. God, Ruffcorn. In '92 or '93, I don't think that Schueler would've traded him for Barry Bonds.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 08:03 PM) Why aren't they a 100 win team? They're good in every aspect, and have nearly all of their players performing well. People really underestimate how awful their schedule is the rest of the way. I've been on the Twins bandwagon all year; I think they're a really good team -- and better than us, 1-9. Their lineup is excellent. But the pitching is flat-out over-performing (particularly the back of their rotation and a fella like Matt Capps), they don't have Morneau, and Jim Thome is playing every day now and streaking. That generally means that (a) Jimmy's going to get tired; and (B) Jimmy, the ultimate streak hitter, is about to see his OPS take a little digger. And he's the key to their offense right now. Add it up, and you get a very good team, but not one that's going to average a loss a week for the next month. But, of course, I could be completely wrong.

Sometimes I think that Carlos Quentin sucks. Sometimes I think that Carlos Quentin is pretty good. He's a weird dude, and a weird baseball player.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) I'm sure they'll lose again...but it would be nice if they lose more than once a week. Their starting pitching is doing an amazing job of keeping them in every game and allowing their offense a chance to win the game. Can't believe they're all the way up to 24 games over .500 Here's the point. On their current pace of losing about once a week, they're going to win around 100 games. Anyone think the Twins are a 100-win team? No. What goes up . . . will at least level off. We just need to keep winning.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 07:48 PM) I doubt it was on purpose, but its time the Sox drill someone. Harrell is a perfect guy for this. +1

Two outs. Man on first. Manny's trying to steal, right?
-
It's like Ozzie has a machine in the dugout. Two outs. Man on first. Must try to steal second, even if down by 5.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) I'm just saying that's a long home run, I don't care who hits that. Gotcha.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) Wow, how slow is Beckham? Just a miserable game for him. He fell down or something, right? I mean, there's just no way that he could get doubled up on that, right?
-
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) Thome's homer went 480 feet. Couple of things: (1) Big Jim is an awesome streak hitter. (2) Big Jim is not going to finish the year with an OPS over 1000. (3) That means that Big Jim is due for an epic slump. (4) That is good news for the White Sox. That is all.

We're a good team.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) i knew jackson sucking today was some way some how, going to be put on ozzie lol everything that goes wrong comes back to ozzie, never fails I liked the way that you jumped to a conclusion there. That was fun. I'm not blaming Ozzie; not a lot of depth in the pen right now.
-
Yeah, I think it's fair to say that his last outing is f***ing Jackson today. Not a good omen for the others who've pitched into the 120's the last couple of outings.
-
Maybe the pitching coach could go out there at some point to impart some wisdom.
-
He's basically throwing batting practice right now. Perhaps that 247 pitch outing caught up with him?

QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 12:16 PM) I've been afraid that EJax is due for an ugly outing. Hasn't fooled anyone yet. One out.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 05:17 PM) I am calling that team the Minnesota Horseshoes because they have one stuck way up their asses...I hate that f***ing team with a passion. My guess is that's all about to end . . . baseball gods and such. Yes, I'm serious.

Sox @ Red Sox (Game 1 and Game 2)

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 09:15 PM) Now if the freaking crappy Rangers could actually compete with the Twinkies we could make up more ground. We've won 5 in a row and have made up .5 games. that SUX I'm thinking of it as taking road games off our schedule, while the Twins are taking home games off their schedule, and we're actually gaining ground. We're doing what we need to do. -
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) Thome makes it a 9:0 game, 3 run shot. *yawn* Piling on now . . . high-water mark for the Twins this year? We shall see.

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) No problem. They're opportunistic -- good farm system and excellent field manager, no question. And they've fielded a better lineup than us all year. But I distinctly remember them pissing away the division to us the last weekend of 2008, looking so feeble against Danks in Game 163 (including having one of their "heady" players get thrown out at home by a convalescent 38-year old centerfielder), and -- as recently as this week -- blow a huge lead to the Tigers on Thursday night. So, as great as our perception of them often is, they do suck sometimes. By the way, I also think that they're peaking too soon. (I know; crazy thought) We've got to hang around.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) I hear you, but I also watch basically every Twins game since I'm in their area. I see how many so called lucky breaks they get, but they also take advantage of them. No problem. They're opportunistic -- good farm system and excellent field manager, no question. And they've fielded a better lineup than us all year. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) lol 5 runs on 2 outs. that's how the Twins do it. Alright, guys, can we just stop with the "That's how the Twins do it" and "Wow, the Twins don't ever make an error (false) or choke in games (false) or play lousy (false)" or "Goddamn, I want to suck the Twins dong!" It's getting like listening to Hawk in here. They're a damn good team, and they play that way -- but that's as far as it should go. Not picking on you, WilliamTell.
