Sox V. A's - Buehrle V. Cahill
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:34 PM) Lol, Hawk just randomly starts making ominous comments about Delmon Young.... out of no where.... "I guess we will have to take care of this Delmon Young situation next year" "We play them 19 times a year. His time will come. His time will come." "We let Torri Hunter slide a few years ago, but Delmon Young won't slide this time. His time will come" umm.....ok Hawk.... I'm not a fan of LaRussa, for a variety of reasons -- and I doubt that he ends up here -- BUT . . . one thing is for sure. If that stuff happened with Delmon Young with LaRussa in the dugout, AN ORDER would have been given to put him on his ass, come hell or high water. And maybe more than once.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) Sox could sign Mientkiewicz. That'd be a big name.

Hawk with a Gene Brabender reference. Haven't heard that name since Ball Four. Well, Hawk hasn't quit!

Sox V. A's - Buehrle V. Cahill
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:05 PM) Yep, it's pathetic. If you're going to be terrible, at least play all of the young guys and stop pressing the starting pitchers so much. The difference between quitting and what the Sox are doing is kind of invisible.

twinkies @ White Sox, WCIU, 7:10 CST
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) Yeah, the Tigers were chased down both times by the Twins, but I was talking about the 2008 and 2009 seasons specifically. The weird thing is that most Tigers fans consider the White Sox to be their biggest rivalry, and yet the Twins have been the much better club. It's because no one cares about the Twins. Seriously.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) That Sox righty hitters have one hit to left field all day, and that if you keep trying to pull the ball vs Duensing, you're going to have no chance. The Twins have used the same scouting report on our right-handed hitters for 8 years. If you're left-handed, low and away with off-speed pitches. Our guys have actually had a decent approach this year, but we just can't seem to get it together against Minnesota. I think we press big-time, and that equals trying to pull. Tough to watch.

Twins vs Sox 7:10 Start---Liriano vs Danks
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 14, 2010 -> 09:29 PM) Dude, you should have seen how loose the played in 2005! LOL . . . once Grady Sizemore dropped the ball in Kansas City.

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 14, 2010 -> 09:29 PM) The negativity of this fan base is truly inspirational to our players I saw a stadium full of fans on their feet. Maybe the players should perform better.

QUOTE (Nokona @ Sep 14, 2010 -> 09:28 PM) Hell of a pitch that. That's what can happen when a right-handed relief pitcher is brought in to do a job. Our manager should take notes.

Twins vs Sox 7:10 Start---Liriano vs Danks
I like how the team with "nothing to lose" is extremely tight-assed.

Joe Mauer is from that Carlton Fisk school of "I'm badass, and I run the game."

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 14, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) 98 mph for Crain? He must have worked out with Juan Rincon again. Using the Grant Balfour method.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 14, 2010 -> 09:20 PM) Then of course we don't instruct. Wear the mitt on your head and we will promote you. Can't hit a curveball, you get promoted. Dont know which way to run, we promote you. This made me laugh.

Chicago White Sox. Kansas City Royals. 7:10 PM CST
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 08:58 PM) But you could also say that most of hits were lucky flares that weren't exactly signs he was swinging the bat well. Putting it in play, I'd say.

Chicago White Sox. Kansas City Royals. 7:10 PM CST
For the second straight game, I'm checking midway -- and noticing the same thing. M. Ramirez = 0 hits. Let me say it again: since the papers noted that he had no extra-base hits -- and since Hawk noted that Walker had made some recommendations to help him drive the ball -- he is HITLESS. I think he's 0-13 now, and I'm serious.

Game Thread! 9/9/10 Sox @ Tigers
Just checking in on the game; haven't really been watching, but let me throw this out there -- anyone noticed that, since Ramirez got advice earlier this week from Walker about his lack of power, he hasn't had one hit?

2010 AL Central Catch-All
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 09:48 PM) KC annnouncers talked for 5 minutes today about how valuable Thome has been in the Twins locker room. That's a big bunch of whopping f***ing bulls*** (as it was when he was here). He's valuable because his OPS is about 1000. Fathom, not picking on you -- just have never believed that crap.

White Sox @ Tigers
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) I was wondering why the Sox were making so many comments about Manny's lack of power. Everyone in baseball knew that he had turned into a different type of hitter once he got off the PEDs. I don't care if the guy never hits a home run. The approach he takes, the counts he runs, and the way he makes a pitcher work -- and the fact that he had hits in about half his at-bats -- that was all good stuff to me.

White Sox @ Tigers
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) And I am in complete agreement. I hope Manny isn't hurt. Speaking of Manny, anyone notice that he stopped hitting the day that Stoney said that Walker was making suggestions to him about his lack of power? I know. I know. Walker's great now.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 08:36 PM) I enjoy not making the playoffs. We'll see. I just wish we'd fielded a real lineup for the first 2 months of the year.

LOL at Torres licking his fingers after the pitch. Solid.
