  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:00 AM) The house cleaning is complete. Who is even left from the Hendry era? Castro, Samardzija, & Barney? Javier Baez, but no Cub fan wants to admit that he's a Hendry draftee. #theoandjedforever
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 02:49 PM) Since when is Garza this must-have ace? That would have been an incredible deal for the Cubs. Since TheoAndJed, Inc. started spinning and falsely leaking for the 4 dupes that cover the Cubs in Chicago and the 3 suck-up morons who cover baseball nationally. The hype on this yutz is insane. As I seem to recall, Garza isn't an ace and is typically injured. Though I know that it's very "retro" to judge a pitcher by wins, his top number -- secured just once and never to be even nearly achieved again -- was 15 (which, incidentally, puts him one ahead of the highest single-season win total of the great historical Cub ace, Kerry Wood). So, because that metric is so archaic, let's just say that his "peripherals" include being a clubhouse jackass. Ridiculous.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 10:38 PM) I was just reading tonight that people expect them to be one of the contenders for Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez. Also, how can you say Baez is a bust? If you want to confuse and annoy a Cub fan, remind him that Javier Baez was drafted by Jim Hendry. ("But, oh my God, TheoandJed!")
  4. It's entirely possible that both Kenny Williams and Phil Rogers were (and are) inept. That's where I'm leaning.
  5. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 3, 2013 -> 10:46 PM) Exciting Sox baseball. It is high-octane madness.
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 29, 2013 -> 09:24 PM) Detroit looks fresher to me in the 3rd so far. Hoo boy.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 20, 2013 -> 09:19 PM) It wasn't. Howard wasn't even touched. My thought, too. I thought maybe I didn't know the rule.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 20, 2013 -> 09:12 PM) The refs took away a perfectly fair game tying goal. That sucks. The Shaw goal? Seriously, what is the rule there? Why was that interference?
  9. It's a shame that Toews and Saad were hurt and missed the playoffs. Oh, wait. Sorry. They've played in every game.
  10. MEMO TO RICK HAHN: No more football-mentality "grinders" -- players who ultimately, year after year after goddamn year, "grind" the sawdust right out of their bats, pressing so hard in the last month of every season
  11. It would appear that the White Sox began their slide when Francisco Liriano coughed up that 3-run lead in KC. Not much good has happened since the 5th inning of that game, and that sucks.
  12. The old question has always been: is it harder to play contending teams down the stretch or teams that have nothing to play for? The White Sox answer: Yes.
  13. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 10:30 PM) Their anuses get into a fit every year past the ASB. They press, swing for the fence. K or popup. Then swing harder. K. Then all of a sudden when its the 9th inning. They finally get some focus and put on a threat, then come up short. That in a nutshell is whitesox baseball in an pennant race. There is no reason what so ever that we are in this position. Play medicore baseball hit the ball a bit and we are about to clinch. +1. So you have to ask who the common denominators have been on all of these teams. I can think of three (besides Hawk): (1) Konerko; (2) AJ; and (3) the guy who gets the players, KW. But it IS kind of the same deal every year, and you have to wonder why.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 10:25 PM) This team has made it hard to get too upset if they don't make the postseason. Yeah, I'm not too upset because: (1) no one expected much; and (2) since about August 1, this team has been -- honestly -- one of the most boring teams I've ever watched. I'm serious about that, and I've been a Sox fan for 35 years. There's something about them that I haven't been able to put a finger on.
  15. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 10:26 PM) Made no sense at all..............I would of rather seen Axelrod. Agree on Axelrod. He's basically had one terrible start all year -- when he went on 3 days rest to protect Sale the day before the All-Star Game. Otherwise, the guy had some big outings for us.
  16. Hey, who knows? In 2008, we got our behinds handed to us in that disastrous sweep in Minnesota, looked totally dead -- and then they turned around and let us back in. Who knows what Detroit team will show up the next week? One thing is for sure . . . they won't pack their gloves.
  17. I like our spirit and sense of fun. We're a team that loves playing baseball right now. You can tell.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) 1st pitch with 2 outs unsuccessful steal attempt was a symbol of Ozzie's managing Yes, that was one tendency that could be scouted once and learned forever.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 10:58 PM) I couldn't even imagine what would happen if Hawk was the Packers announcer. LOL
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) Righties are hitting .120 off of Crain this year. Get to the airport. Get on the f***ing plane. Get the f***ing f*** out of f***ing Kansas City. Forever.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 09:34 PM) Oh yay, the Multiview It's very meaningful.
  22. QUOTE (Skipper @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) He could have easily had him at 3rd. I just don't think Alexei is all there mentally at this point in the season. Never did replace Escobar. Wouldn't be bad to have a backup shortstop. And, no, Olmedo doesn't count.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) Really bad baseball again. He SHOULD have been DEAD TO RIGHTS at home. Was Ramirez BEHIND him? Looked like he might have been. Tough to see the plate with a guy standing in the way. If so, thanks again to the fine fundamentals from Ramirez.
  24. Just want to confirm . . . this is our last game against these guys, right? Right? Right?
  25. QUOTE (Skipper @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) I just don't understand how the Royals have such a poor record. Probably many reasons, but one thing I'm pretty sure of: Yost sucks
