  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 04:45 PM) It doesn't matter what Trump said or did. It doesn't matter what Trump said or did in comparing his actions and words to Clinton? QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 04:45 PM) Quit falling for party propaganda and equating the two things as some sort of false equivalency. You are making a false equivalency between 2 things. I am differentiating between 2 things. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 04:45 PM) Clinton isn't saying anything, but it DOING the opposite. She is doing exactly what she said would be a danger to Democracy. She is challenging the results of the election. That is clearly rejecting the results. The danger to Democracy is making people think elections are meaningless and can't be trusted because they're rigged/stolen/bogus. The campaign statement specifically says they have no reason to suspect fraud nor do they expect the results to change. So how does that create mistrust? Wouldn't we expect any campaign to send representatives to Wisconsin for this? Does anyone believe Donald Trump doesn't have people in Wisconsin checking this out?
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 03:27 PM) None of which really matter. Clinton left zero space for anything other than accepting the election results, or you are a danger to Democracy. Yet here she is being a part of a challenge to those results. Of course she is playing the game and attempting to paint in shades of grey in typical Clinton fashion, but being a part of the challenge for a recount even she didn't "push" for them, is still challenging the election results. If Clinton hadn't have made speech after speech condemning Trump for exactly what she is doing now, it would be different. There was no asterisks in her statements. There were no qualifiers that have a zone where this would be OK. If she had won, and Trump was the one challenging the results, you know she would still be up on the high horse about challenging electoral results. But because it is Clinton and not Trump doing it, those concerns are now legitimate in the eyes of the Clintons and their followers. Hillary Clinton dug this hole. No one else. This is beyond spin; it's lying. She isn't doing anything near Trump did, much less "exactly". She isn't claiming the system is rigged. She isn't rejecting the results. She isn't saying he cheated. Her campaign is saying the OPPOSITE.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 12:47 AM) Honestly, this the worst, ITS DIFFERENT! I have ever seen. A month ago, people who didn't accept election results were a danger to democracy, and Trump had to disavow even the very idea of challenging the election results without ever knowing what they would be. There was no chance at fraud, or a rigged election. Trump was crazy for even having suggested it. But now, it's Clinton, so it is cool. Now we actually care about the actual 'what if's'? Please. You've completely ignored all the differences and misrepresented what happened. - Trump said (and currently is saying) there is massive, widespread fraud. Clinton says there is no evidence of fraud. - Trump said there was no way he could lose without Hillary cheating, so he wouldn't say he would accept the results. Clinton conceded, and didn't even push for the WI recount. - Trump's claims were accompanied by tinges of racism. Clinton isn't even making any claims. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 12:47 AM) Now it just happens that Stein has this idea to challenge the results, and raises more money than she has ever raised, by a multiple margin, and then TeamClinton just happens to jump on board. Its more of the same from the Clinton's. They will quite literally do or say anything to win. They just managed to get one upped by an even better con artist, so now they are looking for ways to get around it. As much as I can't believe people keep falling for Donald Trump's BS, I can't believe people are still falling for the Clintons' either. So after Jill Stein spent months bashing Hillary Clinton, she's now a secret Clinton crony doing her bidding? Okay.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 07:50 PM) Guess who isn't accepting the campaign results? I will give you a hint, they campaigned on accepting the election results... This is the exact reason I couldn't vote for these hypocrites. http://wgntv.com/2016/11/26/clinton-campai...in-the-recount/ This is one of the worst #BothSides we've had on here. Trump says the election is rigged, that people are cheating, that we need people to keep an eye on people in particular areas (cough minorities cough) to prevent them from stealing the election, that he may not accept the results of the election, and that MILLIONS of illegal votes were placed. Hillary's campaign accepts the loss, says there's no evidence of fraud, says they don't expect the recount in Wisconsin to change anything, but they're going to be a part of the process. Totally the same!
  5. QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 27, 2016 -> 09:08 PM) He's still doing this....as President Elect. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/...972944532209664 WTF If Donald Trump really thinks MILLIONS of illegal votes happened in this election, he better be calling for massive investigations.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 12:22 AM) This is a good suggestion but I got it for her for her birthday. I've been with her the last three birthdays and two Xmas's I'm out of idea. Things to go do: Concert / musical / play tickets (does not matter if you are interested in them - go for her), reserve a remote cabin, horseback riding. Any of these things taking place out of town is fine, it creates a weekend getaway. Comforts: Spa day, bath bombs, silk robe, high quality sheets Pop culture interests: Does she like geeky stuff? Browse ThinkGeek. Does she like particular tv shows/movies/etc? Look for a cool tshirt. Hobbies: Does she bake? KitchenAid mixer or attachments. Does she garden? Build a garden box. Does she like photography? Get a nice camera. What does she complain about? Find a solution. But the complaint has to be related to an enjoyable activity. If you like cooking but wish you had better pots/pans, then nice new pots/pans are sweet. If you hate vacuuming, but wish you had a better vacuum, getting a vacuum doesn't make vacuuming fun. Do you have inside jokes with her? Find something, or create something, related to that. My wife and I both used to really like Plants vs Zombies and would joke about the Garlic dude. I went to Hobby Lobby and got a $2 block of clay and molded a little garlic dude.
  7. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 04:17 PM) a cuisinart griddler for the MIL You shall eat paninis forever
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 06:49 PM) TRUMP'S CHARITY ADMITS TO VIOLATING IRS SELF-DEALING BAN Have we hit double digits yet in post-election scandals?
  9. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 11:50 PM) Illinilaw's link about 5-10 posts up Right, it linked to something by Pompeo where he called for more spying and more government power. I was confused as to why you reacted the way you did.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 09:38 PM) President-Elect Donald Trump settles massive fraud case from his scam university Yeah, he's a con-artist, but he's so darned honest and tells it like it is.
  11. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 09:05 PM) It's refreshing to see someone from the intelligence community call the spying for what it is. Who are you referring to?
  12. QUOTE (champagne030 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 04:42 AM) So were you unemployed, self-employed or working a job(s) trying to get a job that would better utilize your degree? Or paying your own way through schooling and working part-time jobs that don't provide benefits? My understanding is that someone has to pay for the "sick" people. Yes, the young get penalized for carrying the weight of the elders, but isn't that Medicare and SS? Or is that part of the fight? My understanding is that rates would go down, for those with the huge bump, under Trump (without any significant changes) because Congress will 'fund" it. I was a full time employee with a classification that basically made me a contract worker.
  13. QUOTE (champagne030 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 04:10 AM) I understand that I should do more research, but my personal experience is who is getting hosed by ACA? I've worked for a 'fairly' large corporate company (multiple companies) for the last 25 years and my insurance goes up $10-$15 per year. ACA hasn't changed that and I doubt that changes in the near future (my portion of insurance increased exactly $1/mo this year vs. last year). Is it small business owners and their workers? I'm just trying to grasp who is getting screwed. Are the rates going to down because the Republicans will now pass funding to reduce rates or is there some serious issues with ACA that are not politically motivated? Young healthy people with incomes too high to get subsidies. Pre ACA, I paid under $100/month for a good plan with a low deductable. The rate was steady for the 3 years I was on it. If I tried to get a plan now, i'd be paying $400+/month with a $7000 deductible. That's basically catastrophic insurance. A plan with a reasonable deductable is $600-700/month. This is in North Carolina btw. Luckily I started getting coverage through work so it never came to that. I'm happy that sick people are able to get coverage now, but I'm exactly the kind of person who would be paying to offset the losses they cause the insurers.
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 05:36 PM) So Obama was elected in 2008, does anyone have a history book that could tell me what happened in 2009? I'll save you the time, #ItsDifferent. What happened in 2009? The 2008 financial crisis?
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 07:24 PM) Really? That seems really low. Like minimum wage low. Federal minimum wage at 40 hours/week is $15,000 a year
  16. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 06:56 PM) You like rate drops that overwhelmingly benefit the rich and hurt the poor and middle class? I was only saying I like that my rate goes down, not that I like the proportions of rate drops between poor/middle class/rich.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 06:18 PM) Who Benefits From Donald Trump's Tax Plan? spoiler: I like the rate drop, but trading exemptions for child care credits I won't use sucks.
  18. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 05:15 PM) I'll bet his house. Which one? He has thousands
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 04:41 PM) I think for them its because their state is always going to go blue. Kind of like ours. Sometimes the electoral process disenfranchises people. Even if their state is deep red/blue for the Presidential election, they can still make a difference in state/local elections. It's laziness.
  20. QUOTE (brett05 @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) You are blinded by your partisan. If he meant violence there would have been much better choices, but hey it doesn't fit your narrative so you run with it. What did the Founding Fathers do with their muskets? Tape cardboard signs to the ends of them and chant anti-British slogans? We. Hate. KingGeorge.
  21. QUOTE (brett05 @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) Probably should so folks as yourself would not be so confused. I wasn't confused, nor was I convinced by his walk-back.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 05:40 PM) LOL, there is a new "birther" movement claiming that Trump was born in Pakistan. Can we please spend years examining this?
  23. The Arrival was interesting, and worth seeing. Part of it is not sticking well with me though. I guess chalk that one up to "suspension of disbelief". I also read that an early script (or maybe it was the short story source) had a more interesting motivation for the aliens. Wish they had done that instead.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 12, 2016 -> 05:10 AM) How did Bush win twice? He has personality? Relative to Al Gore, oh yeah "You could have a beer with him"
