  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) So Mike, my general view of Jetta's is they are absolutely pieces of s***. Maintenance and issues galore. I have known few people who owned Jetta's over the years (not necessarily this line, so things could change) and every one indicated they would never own another Jetta. My parents have a mid-2000s Passat that's a grocery-getter and it's had numerous problems that all happen to be hard-to-fix issue related to some hard-to-find proprietary VW part. On the hand, my brother-in-law has a mid-1990s Jetta with like 300,000 miles on it.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 11:26 PM) Here's Obama getting heckled http://time.com/4559072/barack-obama-north...-heckler-video/ And here is what Trump said about it http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-...4b0d9ce6fbc616a How can anyone believe anything he ever says? This is outrageous! Obama MUGGED an elderly white man. He repeatedly said "[This is a] hold up!".
  3. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) Well I think most Americans (even center lefts to medium lefts) probably realize a conservative SCOTUS is safer for the people. Are you talking about 2nd Amendment issues only? Because a more conservative SCOTUS sounds terrible for women, gay people, 1A supporters, and 4A supporters.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 11:21 PM) Cause it's not easy to rig the system. President is the most important job. These positions are on the same ballot. Why would the other elections be any harder to rig?
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 05:37 PM) That's very classy of you to try and paint it as if you're for women and I'm against them. I hate both parties, but it is sleazy tactics like this that make talking with liberals very tough. If you speak on anything pertaining to women, race, orientation, etc. you're automatically painted into a corner as a hate mongerer and the liberal gets themself off with some faux-morale high ground.. In reality, you just think it's easier to falsely character cast than to speak on the subject at hand. Maybe you shouldn't have spoke as if MLK's womanizing was equivalent to Trump's alleged sexual assaults.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 09:33 PM) They're not banning speech. They have issue with the choice of wording which can be construed as diminishing BLM. They even said they would be open to different wording in the posters. Seems like these folks are just intentionally instigating for media coverage. They are banning speech. As a private university, they're free to do so. But "you can't co-opt a slogan because the originators think that downplays their message" is a really lame standard to implement.
  7. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 05:43 PM) Sure, and that had discriminatory intent, I agree (i'm not saying discriminatory results don't sometimes come from actual racist beliefs). But the vast majority of the time that people screamed racism with Obama, it had nothing to do with race. Even the birther crap was more about his religion and secret want to destroy America via terrorism (clearly nonsense), not that he was black. Birtherism was primarily about Obama being a foreigner from Kenya and that was centered around his race. And no one would have called him a secret Muslim if he was white. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 05:43 PM) Will someone undoubtedly say something sexist about Clinton? Sure. Does that mean that when the Republican-controlled Congress doesn't want to work with her they're doing that because she's a woman? No. If she fails to get her policies enacted is it because of sexism? No. Will people still play that card? Yes. This is probably mostly true. I'd expect to see a fair amount of "See? Women can't lead" rhetoric out there though.
  8. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) The way you guys throw around the term racism though it literally means anything that results in a negative outcome for a minority. Derrick Rose got traded? GarPax are racist. Obama can't get a SC justice confirmed? Racist. Lester Holt was interrupted by two rich white people? Clearly racist. The example he used involved (NC Republican voter suppression) involved the specific targeting of black people for negative outcomes.
  9. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) I don't think he did face opposition because he's black. So what was the entire Birther movement? Why is he so frequently portrayed as Muslim? How many times did we hear about Barack HUSSEIN Obama doing something? Would any of these things happened if he was white? QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) I think he faced opposition because he's a democrat with democratic policies. Of course he did. Most of his opposition was due to being a democrat, but that doesn't mean all of it was. Hasn't Donald Trump's rise taught us anything? This guy isn't conservative. He doesn't promote most traditional Republican positions. He didn't gain a following through thoughtful policy positions. Racial resentment is YUGE.
  10. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) It'll be replaced with, "it's because she's a woman and you're a sexist!" That's silly. Obama didn't face any opposition based on him being black, and the current election cycle demonstrates no racism or sexism in America whatsoever.
  11. My NC ballot had four propositions, and all of them were related to banning alcohol sales (at ABC stores, at restaurants/hotels, in supermarkets, and I forget the fourth one). I know this is the south, and I don't even drink, but come on now.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 04:52 AM) Trump is right, the election is rigged. They just busted a woman in Iowa for voting twice. She is a Teump supporter and voted twice because she knew her first vote was going to be changed to Hillary. No way, voter fraud is impossible to catch
  13. QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 08:53 PM) STOP USING SATIRICAL SITES AS YOUR SOURCE FOR NEWS. JESUS. Does that even count as satire? It has no message, and it's not even trying to be funny a la The Onion. It's just....dumb fake news.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 06:41 PM) Again with all due respect ... I didn't intend on dropping that cigarette butt in the trash can in my failing restaurant and didn't know it would burn down." etc etc. That was a very weak excuse of Comey the first time. Are robbing banks and setting failing businesses on fire with cigarettes in trash cans common accidents?
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) Is Kirk that dumb to say something like that or was this some sorta last ditch effort to try and get Trump supporters because he is probably losing anyway? Dumb. Illinois doesn't have a lot of Trump supporters and Kirk would struggle to grab them even if it did.
  16. I would be in 3 wildly different districts by those 3 maps.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 04:29 PM) Nothing to see here greg.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-38...-bid-power.html So shady. Lots of questions need to be answered here. Why did Hillary Clinton give a fundraising speech for Virginia Democrats? She doesn't even live there, and she's not a Democrat. Why did those Virginia Democrats give money to the campaign of a woman running for office as a Democrat in Virginia of all places? How did Hillary Clinton know that the woman's husband would later get promoted within the FBI and be involved with an investigation about her emails? Did she make the promotion happen?
  18. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) Cuz the NC state government is basically refusing to cooperate. I just looked into it a little more. Seems like this is more of a local, rather than state, voter suppression effort now. https://thinkprogress.org/dozens-of-north-c...da38#.vprp5g4wu
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) Awesome. Out of curiosity have you ever worked on a campaign before? No. I wasn't aware of this until a couple days ago when I went to look up MY early voting site. I thought the GOP voting changes bill got struck down in its entirety, so I'm not even sure why the big city-containing counties still have fewer days of early voting.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) "before today" - is today when they start to open up more? Yes, from my brief look at the statewide list, they're pretty much all open now through November 5th.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) In some of those counties, early voting polling places went from numbers like 15 and 16 to 1. That was for the first couple of days though, with additional polling places opening yesterday and tomorrow. Still though, it's absolutely ridiculous and just another really, really obvious piece of evidence as to what NC was doing and why Shelby County is probably the worst decision in a century. Guilford County (basically Greensboro) had only 1/25 of its early voting stations open before today. Neighboring Davidson County, where I live, had 5/5. Btw, I appreciate that multiple local offices on my ballot have only Republicans running. Good effort, Democrats.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 10:04 PM) I don't remember an instance of a key Clinton supporter being put in the spot to being asked a very direct question and explicit question like that on a supporting network. I saw Chris Cuomo ask a Clinton surrogate about hacked email material not too long ago. She kept deflecting about how unethical hacking is and refused to address the content of the emails, and he pressed again. When she still wouldn't address it, he called her out directly as avoidant and then basically called her a hypocrite saying that if Trump emails got hacked, she'd be loving it. Edit: it was Chris Cuomo, not Jake Tapper
  23. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) This is what I'm talking about. He's not Stewart. He can't BE Stewart. People gotta let him be who he is instead of comparing him to how closely he can approximate Stewart's delivery. He can't. He doesn't have to approximate Jon Stewart's delivery. He just needs to be funny, and for the political/media/social criticisms to feel genuine. He fails on both accounts.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 02:12 PM) I don't know man. He's just not good I think he's borderline unwatchable. His comedic delivery is awful, and he isn't capable of the genuine righteous indignation on serious topics that Stewart was. 0/2
  25. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) I prefer some good sashimi to sushi Same. Don't care for the seaweed wrap, avacado, cream cheese, all the other toppings. Nice piece of fish on sticky rice, please.
