  1. Would they really want to switch? You'll get an easier first-round matchup with some garbage team, but you still have to get through the Pacers and Heat, which is brutal.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 07:07 PM) Braid and Limbo were awesome. I actually made a mistake. I liked Braid, but the game I intended to put on there was Bastion.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 08:04 PM) Just let the guy go. This is just terrible Write me a book report, nerd
  4. Team Fortress 2 Portal series Left 4 Dead series BioShock series The Walking Dead Borderlands 2 Honorable mention: Minecraft, Bastion, FTL Edit: Bastion, not Braid
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 06:10 PM) Well that's true, but I think it's reasonable to assume that the people who survive a zombie apocalypse have some intelligence about survival. They were doing pretty well before a sickness got to them and a crazy asshole attacked them.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 04:50 PM) All of them? They make moronic decisions that no reasonable person would make in a given situation. Rick especially. It's obviously fiction and all that, but it's still really annoying when everyone watching says don't do X but they do it anyway. Have you been outside your house? There are plenty of morons out there. I don't think the characters in TWD are appreciably dumber than normal people.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) What sort of country do we live in where it's even a question whether this man should be charged with murder? Not sure how a confused, elderly man with his arms full of mail can be seen as an imminent threat.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 10:17 PM) Pretty much everyone else on the show is just laughably over the top and not very believable. Like who? Rick? Carl? Daryl? Maggie? Glenn? Carol? Michonne? Beth? Tyreese? Sasha? TDog? Dale? I can see Lori and Andrea having been over-the-top dumb and the Governor was nutso, but that's about it.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 09:31 PM) The unresolved story issues I agree with, but fan favorite doesnt mean anything, otherwise Herchel would still be around, lol. If I were the remaining group with Rick, I would seriously just go find another prison to take over. I agree being a fan favorite doesn't give you immunity, but it certainly makes your death less likely. Herschel was likeable, but I don't think he's up there with .
  10. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 07:18 PM) Hard to beleive the NHL thread is so quiet. Clearly threads thrive on bad news . Success and stability must be boring. Hawks approaching dynasty status and you can hear a pin drop in here. Mostly just feels like a matter of waiting for the playoffs.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 09:05 PM) I was surprised it wasnt I was prepared for it, it would have been very "shocking" No way they're killing that character off anytime soon. Fan favorite, and has unresolved story issues. Maybe if they suddenly spent a few episodes focusing on him/her, then I'd get worried. More screen time => You are in trouble
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 07:03 PM) Anyone watch "Almost Human"? Worth catching? Solid, but unspectacular thus far. I'm still on board.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 03:48 PM) For a single man? No, but neither is ovarian cancer. Or testicular cancer for women. People who don't have sex get STD coverage. People who don't have legs get podiatrist coverage.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) Please though, explain the pregnancy care requirement. It's a basic healthcare need?
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 10:46 PM) Right, but (1) you'd expect both candidates to be black if you were voting there (predominantly black area) Okay, so voters may have assumed both were black. And? That says nothing about if they would have voted differently if they knew he was white. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 10:46 PM) , (2) his ads had nothing but black families on them, (3) and he took action to keep his own face out of the press/off the internet. I don't know that he was actively trying to pretend to be black, but he was certainly hiding the fact that he was white. And something about his campaign clicked with people since he beat a 24 year incumbent. Yes, it's clear that Wilson believed the voters wouldn't elect a white guy. His belief isn't validated because he won the election though. This is a non-story.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 09:35 PM) Because so many white guys beat a black incumbent of 24 years in a predominantly black community? Voters wouldn't know the race, or even the political party, of the candidates. Here's what the ballot looked like: District II [ ] Dave Wilson [ ] Bruce A. Austin
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 07:19 PM) God damn our electorate is stupid: http://gawker.com/white-republican-wins-el...s-he-1462172659 How do we know his win has anything to do with convincing voters he was black? He was running for a seat on a community college board. Those are the elections at the end of the ballot filled with people no one knows anything about.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 8, 2013 -> 08:37 PM) How would you like to be one of the people promised they could keep their coverage and now they can't? Can wipe out life savings in an instant. Uh, how? I AM one of those people. It just means I'm stuck having to buy a more expensive plan; not that my coverage is gone and I can't get any.
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2013 -> 02:35 PM) Richard Cohen didn't realize slavery was all that bad until someone made a movie about it: Mostly benevolent whites owning grateful blacks? Geez. Lost Cause Southerners barely even believe that anymore.
  20. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 06:14 PM) Of course insurance company X isn't going to advertise for cheaper alternatives elsewhere. If you aren't aware of Healthcare.gov or the exchanges by now, it's incredibly hard for me to feel bad that if you go directly to Humana they pretend no alternatives exist. That's like expecting a Ford dealership to tell you, you know...you can get this same truck under the Chevy name for 20,000$ less. No, it's not. Even the plans from the same company were cheaper on the exchange website. It's like taking your Ford to the dealership and they tell you that your car's brakes are shot and will cost $1000 to replace, when they're advertising on a website that new brakes are $500. It's really shady. Edit: for the record, BCBS of North Carolina's prices listed on the exchange website were the same as the quote they sent me in the mail as part of my "your current plan is going away" letter. The letter also said that the quote was for the most similar plan, but that other plans were available and I should look them up.
  21. I successfully got into the HealthCare.gov website! Unfortunately, every option is far worse than what I currently have. I guess I'm just one of the "clear losers" and there ain't squat I can do about it. The sad thing is that this has made me half-consider dropping coverage and just paying the penalty fee.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 11:31 PM) I commented to my friend about how I thought Tony Snell missing the 3 straight 3pointers fed to him in the same possession was more embarrassing than an open dunk. He disagreed and gave this list : level 1: getting eyed (pull up in your face, usually following trash talk) level 2: getting crossed over level 2.5 (my addition): Taj Gibson clapping at Bosh to come at him only to easily get taken level 3: getting dunked on level 4: missing dunk level 5: ankle breaker crossover level 6: scoring in your own basket Anything we're missing? Horribly blatant flop that doesn't get called
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 09:25 PM) But they can only do that because they have the leverage of the mandate, right? Otherwise, why wouldn't they be selling you the more-expensive plan before? Taking on more losses might be a motivator to really try to maximize your profitability, but BCBS wasn't sitting around not investigating how to maximize their market share and profits prior to community rating/guaranteed issue. They just didn't have the leverage/excuse to drop these less-profitable plans and only offer the more-profitable plans without all of the substantial changes in the market going on over the next couple of months. They didn't have any leverage because I would have switched to another insurer if they had arbitrarily quadrupled my rate. Now, every insurer is facing new costs and jacking up their prices accordingly. I can't bolt to someone else.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 09:42 PM) So, if those low-premium, useful plans met the minimum requirements (or were very close, only requiring minor changes), why are the insurance companies no long offering them? It's a legitimate question. Because now they're stuck insuring unhealthy customers that they're going to take a loss on. They have to offset that somehow.
  25. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 07:42 PM) Now the "catastrophic" plans don't exist because of the mandatory minimum coverage regulations. They do still exist, just with some qualifications: https://www.healthcare.gov/can-i-buy-a-catastrophic-plan/ For me, one of these catastrophic plans costs nearly double what my old plan (roughly silver level) was costing. So, I can pay way more to get way less. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 07:42 PM) Again, this is deliberately and explicitly how the bill was structured and written. Low-premium, questionably-useful catastrophic plans go away And so have many low-premium, very useful plans.
