QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 06:14 PM) I didn't look at it closely enough to see if it was 100% accurate. But it doesn't really change my point - both campaigns generate and spend a s*** ton of money, and even if the GOP generated more, it didn't matter at the end of the day. Of course it does. For one, the two major parties can destroy any 3rd party just by outspending them. Secondly, once they get in, they do big favors for the big donors. It's legalized corruption. Lindsay Graham is going to put forth a bill to ban online gambling. Because he hates it? Or because Sheldon Adelson, a casino magnate, just started driving truckloads of money his way?

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 02:43 PM) What truly baffles me about investing is that people just don't care. I mean, it's their own money going into these 401k plans, and they just don't care enough to research what they're investing in or why. The high frequency traders stealing from 401k investors is just a fraction of the pie ... people are getting robbed blind because they invest in BAD mutual funds, with 1+% fees. I looked at a few of my friends 401k's and had to reallocate for them, because they were paying huge fees on poor funds that weren't even performing in line with the S&P500, and if they were, it wouldn't matter since the amount of money getting skimmed removed any gain. While fees are being mentioned... I'm looking to do some online investing. What sites/services are good for avoiding fees and charges and other ripoffs? I am not the type of investor who is going to be making lots of trades or messing with individual stocks. More of a "dump into an index fund and leave it alone" type deal.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 6, 2014 -> 08:05 PM) Every review I have read says that it is buggy as hell and very annoying to play, despite the easter eggs, references, and look Feels like a Steam Summer Sale candidate for me. Sale price + bugs patched.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 09:57 PM) Didn't they have an episode where Paula Deen murdered Trayvon Martin? lol that might have been it. I do think the shooter had some history of racism a la Deen.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 09:46 PM) Wow are you kidding me? That's so tactless. They're not exact recreations, just close enough to remind you of the real events. The Trayvon Martin one involved a young black kid in a hoodie. A white woman coming home thought he was a mugger and shot him. Then there was a big trial about it being self defense or murder. The Ariel Castro one could have been almost any SVU episode - some guy was keeping 3 girls in his basement, and had a child with one of them.
-
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 10:29 PM) Law and Order has a tendency to pick these up. Remember the Anna Nicole Smith episode right after she died? Yeah, it's happening. SVU will do it. They've already done Trayvon Martin and Ariel Castro episodes this season.

Here's the quote from the bill about what you can refuse: (a) Provide any services, accommodations, advantages, facilities, goods, or privileges; provide counseling, adoption, foster care and othersocial services; or provide employment or employment benefits, related to,or related to the celebration of, any marriage, domestic partnership, civilunion or similar arrangement; It would take an unbelievable stretch for this to apply to gay people calling the police, going to the hospital, hanging out at a park, or eating lunch at a restaurant. None of those activities are 'related' to a couple's marital/partnership/civil union status.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 07:10 PM) Kansas' Anti-Gay Segregation Bill Is an Abomination The law is terrible, but a lot of the claims made in that quote are wrong. The bill only 'validates' discrimination related to gay marriage/civil unions/domestic partnerships, or celebrations thereof. So, an anti-gay baker can refuse to bake a wedding cake, a reception hall can refuse to rent their space to a gay couple, or a government clerk could (if SSM were available in Kansas) refuse to give them a license. In the last case, the clerk would be obligated to find another clerk who could help the couple. It wouldn't allow a cop to refuse to help gay people in danger or allow a hospital to turn them away. Come on now.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 12, 2014 -> 05:07 PM) my brother lives in North Carolina, I offered to trade him our Polar Vortex for his ice storm, straight up. he declined. I live in North Carolina. We are doomed.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Feb 10, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) What joke is that? Haha these people are super nerdy and just made another nerdy reference? I once heard BBT described as "nerd blackface".

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 09:27 PM) Has anyone ever played Gone Home? I don't usually play PC games, but this one seems really cool. Yes. I liked it, but then again, I only paid $5 for it during a big Steam sale. If I had paid the normal price ($20?), I would have been irritated due to its very short length. Also note that it is more of an interactive narrative than a game.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 03:51 AM) Even MJ acknowledged that he needed Scottie. Rose needs to realize he needs 1 1/2 stars (think Gasol and then Odom before crack) to win a title. ...he needs more than that.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jan 27, 2014 -> 10:44 PM) I remain happily oblivious to anything that happened apart from Daft Punk winning and an award show suddenly becoming a place that one can marry. The NIN/QOTSA performance got cut off...for ads. Reznor made a "f*** you" post on twitter.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 27, 2014 -> 03:11 PM) /slowpoke I finished Borderlands 1. What a disappointing, anti-climatic ending. Started Borderlands 2 up right away. /slowpoke I found BL2 FAR more entertaining than BL1, which became a slow grind at many points. Too bad you're playing in the post-Bee-nerf era!

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 04:29 PM) Its an older study, but interesting nonetheless That methodology is really questionable. Driving isn't a process of waiting for 1 specific stimulus (a red light turning on in your car) to occur. Even as the drunk driver, he can just sit there and stare at it until it goes off.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 07:21 PM) these totalitarian nanny state laws passed Punishing reckless endangerment of other people's lives = totalitarian nanny state? Sounds like you're drunk right now.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 08:59 PM) Schools vary due to grade inflation. Sometimes grades don't mean much but most often they do especially from a school like Stanford. Haven't the prestigious schools like the Ivies and Stanford had the biggest problems with grade inflation? The average GPA at Harvard is like a 3.7.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 07:08 PM) No, my argument is that as it stands now, one guy (Kobe) has a better overall record of performance, and while Lebron might be a more skilled/bigger/faster/whatever, at this point he hasn't achieved nearly as much and thus it's at least debatable (not indisputable) that Kobe would still be considered the better player. Kobe's career beats Lebron's in overall team success (in part to having played 6 more years), but Lebron has a far better overall record of personal performance. That's why he already has 4 MVPs and is likely to get at least a couple more while Kobe has 1 and has no chance of increasing that. If you like advanced stats, Lebron's Win Shares per 48 minutes over his career is .243. Kobe has not had a single season that high. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 07:08 PM) If Lebron never wins another title but still puts up his normal numbers, would you consider him better than Kobe? I wouldn't. Easily. If I was a GM in an imaginary world where I could have 15 years of Lebron or 15 years of Kobe, I'd take Lebron without hesitation.

QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 08:07 PM) Wilson is the overrated one in my book. Right now he is a glorified Trent Dilfer. Cmon now. He was 9th in passing TDs, 7th in QB rating, 16th in yards, and 4th in yards/attempt. And only Cam and Pryor had more rushing yards. He's a very good quarterback.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 03:55 PM) Kwame Brown and Olawacandi at least made way more sense. Also they don't care at your mocking since they made probably close to 60 mill between em. $37M for Candyman, $63M for Kwame.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 11:07 PM) Yeah that's my takeaway. How exactly is this different than the lady that got fired for making an offensive joke? His actions were positive, not negative? QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 11:07 PM) You are the representative of a corporation and if they don't like it they get rid of you The corporation's owner supported Kluwe. It seems like it was a POS in middle management (special teams coach) that ultimately got him fired.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 1, 2014 -> 11:04 AM) I'd like to shoot for 50 pounds by years end, even 25 would be cool. But I also realize how incredibly lazy I am. My only hope of losing weight is to get married, because I don't mind healthy food at all, I just suck at cooking and am too lazy to make anything that takes more than 5 minutes. And the quicker the meal, the more unhealthy, typically. But getting married to get in to shape is quite the Catch 22. The better you get at cooking, the more enjoyable it is to do and you will less likely to go into "f*** it, getting fast food" lazy mode. Keep at it. Stir-fry and crock pot recipes aka "throw meat and veggies into something hot" are easy to do, fairly healthy, and can be made in large, easy-to-reheat batches.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 31, 2013 -> 06:21 PM) Its an invasive culture that is not welcome to people. I hope these concerned Utahns aren't the same Utahns who spent millions of dollars and countless man-hours trying to push Prop 8 in California.
