  1. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 12:43 PM) Let's not get ahead of ourselves. He still wasn't hitting for any power and had 0 BB/8 SO. Anyone at his level can get some luck on balls in play. It's entirely possible that it's just a random hot streak. But since he's had so few of them, I thought it was note worthy.
  2. The more I think about it... the more I believe that Lebron will stay in Cleveland... And if the only way Bosh is willing to come is via sign and trade (per recent articles that also suggest it would cost us Noah)... I'm beginning to think it may not be a bad idea to make a pre-emptive strike (at the right price) for Boozer... and use the signing as further proof to Wade of our willingness to: - Bring him in as 'the guy' - Surround him with a better cast than Miami can deliver... even if they add Bosh
  3. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) Kenny Williams Jr. was placed on the DL. Awww, what a shame. Not only does he suck, he's injury prone. That's too bad. He was actually starting to look like a player recently. .333 over his last 10 games. Had an 8 game hitting streak going into yesterday. What type of injury?
  4. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 10:32 AM) are we really going to have to wait another 3 days at least to see who is going where? The dominoes will fall pretty quickly after LeBron decides where he's going.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) 10 games shouldn't sway your opinion on a player's overall ability. Alexei still has a ton of weaknesses. Okay. How about he's batting .300 since May 1st (200 at-bats)? Seems like you're simply looking for reasons to trash him, IMO.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 09:49 AM) At best, Alexei is average to slightly above average right now. No. Right now he's hotter than ****... Batting .393 over his last 10 games. And considering he was batting .214 on May 15th, reaching almost .280 before the all-star break is pretty damn impressive.
  7. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 12:47 AM) It's so weird...the team is 1 game back, but in no way does it feel like that.... The thing that seems REALLY weird to me is that, as of last night, the Twins have the same number of losses as we do.
  8. The Heat's marketing department is the source that leaked the info. You'd think they'd have their act together a little. Beeeep. They put the info out on Facebook and Twitter to get fans to appear for Wade... And a grand total of 50 people showed up. Nice support there Miami. Advantage us.
  9. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 01:54 PM) So, James is making his announcement after his basketball camp. Interesting. Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that LeBron James, according to Windhorst’s sources, will not announce his decision about where he’s playing next season until Thursday at the earliest ... after his Nike basketball camp this week is over. Which makes total sense. Telling the world whom he wants to sign with Monday, with campers congregating in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, for the next three days, only would have worked for LeBron if he’s definitely staying with the Cavs. How could he announce that he’s leaving them in free agency and then proceed with the camp? Jittery Cavs fans will undoubtedly worry now that this is the latest LeBron’s Leaving signal, but I would argue that you can’t read that much into the delay. Not when so many folks around the league connected to the teams chasing LeBron believe, more and more, that staying with the Cavs is a far bigger possibility than many prognosticators believed going into the frenzy. If he’s going to leave Ohio now -- and subject himself to untold scorn for the rest of his life when he goes home -- James naturally wants to be sure he’s making the right call. It’s understandable, at least to me, that he wouldn’t want to rush that choice after cramming six visits into three days.
  10. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) John Buck is the reserve catcher? Seriously!?!?!? Is Mauer the only good catcher in the whole AL? Victor Martinez would have made it if he wasn't on the DL.
  11. Bucher is from Cincinnati. I think it's likely he grew up as a Bulls-hating Cav's fan. That would explain things.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) it also helps that Viciedo looks somewhat dangerous in the batters box, and hasnt been exposed as a huge liability at 3rd(yet) He looks pretty good on balls hit right at him. And he doesn't look like a total disaster on throws to first. Anway... at least that puts him a leg up on either Teahen or Nix.
  13. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 09:11 AM) Maybe messin with them is the wrong way to put it. I just get the feeling Wade isn't leaving Miami and is just using the Bulls to put pressure on Miami to move on another FA...not meaning LBJ or Bosh but it was stated he was fairly upset they didn't get Amare and this is why the 2nd meeting happened. To me it sounds more like he is telling Miami get someone or I might walk.... On the other hand... Wade is a pretty bright guy. I think he totally gets how unique this year and the options that may be available for him are... and that he owes it to himself to see what people will offer him.
  14. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) I truly believe that in 2 or 3 years Rose will be better then Wade. With Wade getting older and Rose entering his prime. OK. By the time this happens, Rose will be a free agent, then we can bring him back and go for a 6-peat.
  15. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 08:29 PM) Seriously? Rose is great but this is like asking if you would trade a dollar for a million, bazillion, trajillion dollars. Agreed. I like Rose alot, but.... I like parades at Grant Park more.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 05:37 PM) Will somebody explain to me how on earth Wade/Lebron/Rose would work together? Beautifully
  17. Charlotte @ Norfolk Marquez Mississippi @ Birmingham Angel Garcia Potomac @ Winston-Salem Doyle (Chris Sale is scheduled to make his professional debut tonight.) Kannapolis @ Asheville Rienzo Missoula @ Great Falls Holmberg Greenville @ Bristol Buch
  18. Just saw these comments from fans on Chicago Breaking Sports. I have no idea whether this is just typical fan bs or whether there is something going on. Jeff on July 2, 2010 4:15 PM He is going to the Heat. 3 year deal for the max salary each year. Details will start trickling out any time now, but this is a done deal. Craig on July 2, 2010 4:13 PM I'm not sure if it's official but it sure sounds like it's close on LBJ going to the Heat. If so, this is a major miscalculation by the Bulls thinking he was waiting until Saturday just to go through the motions with the other teams. BigD on July 2, 2010 4:01 PM I just heard on the radio that James is going to Miami, no contract details yet but they think it's just 3 years. Will Montana on July 2, 2010 3:57 PM ESPN is reporting that James is signing with the Heat, they say it's a done deal pending physical.......
  19. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 10:11 AM) Yeah; I realize that he's a little older for a prospect, but don't a lot of pitchers "figure things out" in their late 20's? Yes. And I think he'll get a shot to pitch in MLB. Just not sure he's going to bring back much in trade.
  20. Just read an article that said Turkoglu has recently backed off on trade demands. And that the Raptors GM was inclined to re-sign him if Bosh leaves.
  21. From a sales perspective... (I'm a lifelong salesman, sales manager/trainer, etc.)... I always want to present last. The odds of closing a deal go way up.
  22. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) word is that Pippen hated the Bulls too for dismantling the team and trading him to Houston, but sources say he actually have a pretty healthy relationship with the team and is helping out this summer. He better... he needs the money.
  23. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) THe problem is that you can have all the money in the world, but if there is a cap, you are very limited in what you can do. Mark Cuban is loaded, but he cant just go and make a super team. Now if he owned the Yankees, then that's a different story. Limited to the things he can do from a salary perspective, yes. But not limited to outside ventures, which is the strong suit he brings to the conversation. If he is tempting Lebron with stories of helping enhance his global brand, open up new markets for him overseas, participate in business opportunities, and help him become a billionaire in the process... then no other owner is going to come close to touching what Prokhorov has to offer.
  24. Just read a couple of Forbes articles about Mikhail Prokhorov. Very interesting. This guy has the potential to be a dominant force (as owners go) in the NBA. He has a net worth of over $13B, including $5B in cash... plus the type of ambition that would make Mark Cuban look like a slacker. Article 1 About his acquiring the Nets Article 2 A general financial article including his background, etc.
