  1. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 02:35 AM) Is this something you guys wish or will they be trying him at 3B ? He's played in 32 games this year. 13 at 3B; 11 in RF; 4 DH; 3 LF; 1 - 1B.
  2. Brian Omogrosso's fastball is hitting 99mph again? After an awful April, he is on fire. In the last two months, over 19 2/3 innings, he has 27Ks vs. 1BB? Leyson Septimo with 25Ks and 8BBs over 17 innings in the last 2 months? Several other relievers having very strong seasons.
  3. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,4733312.story Some interesting info in here.
  4. Makes saense to me. Doesn't appear to be a viable bullpen option at this point. So, give him a couple starts to either: Showcase him...Or to stretch him out in case Floyd/Humber continue to struggle. And if you're going to do it... Why not against a weak ball club like the Cubs?
  5. Regarding Doyle... I have no problems with the Sox releasing him. Probably on the fringe of whether he would make/stick on a major league roster. If so, how long do you hang around in AAA? Doyle is a very bright guy. Likely saw the handwriting on the wall. Plus he'll make alot more money in Japan than he would in the minors. So... probably the best thing for him. Best of luck Terry!
  6. Charlotte has moved Dan Johnson over to 3B.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 17, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) Hmm the new articles now say Ricketts' had nothing to do with the plan. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-05-17/r...ttack-plan.html Terrible press regardless haha They can try and spin it anyway they want. Ricketts is guilty as sin. Here's the full document. http://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/357313/ricketts.pdf Someone approved a $10M budget at a meeting in New York prior to the creation of this plan. (see pages 46 and 48). Not sure you have to go past the front cover of the document to figure out who.
  8. I'm tired of having teams that could end up over .500... if everything goes well and nobody has a down year.
  9. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,2779832.story Sox minor league pitcher Andre Rienzo was suspended 50 games for violating Minor League Baseball's Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Rienzo, a native of Brazil, tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance. Rienzo, 23, was 3-0 with Class-A Winston-Salem with a league-leading 31 strikeouts.
  10. You also see stuff like this happen when a guy needs to work on a certain pitch... and they don't want him to get pounded while doing it.
  11. And in other news, "Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead!"
  12. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/765419...m-give-damn-you Article by author of Sh*t My Dad Says Might be the funniest thing I've read all year.
  13. I'm a big advocate of lean concepts and practices. I use them to help service companies (particularly financial service companies) evaluate and redesign their processes. The greatest challenge for most companies, imo, is not making improvements... it's sustaining them. But I don't think that's a failure of lean... rather it's a failure in change management.
  14. Met a woman like that in a bar one time. I whispered in her ear... "You know, you'd be really hot if you lost about 20 pounds." Never heard from her again.
  15. Does the .5 come from games where fans were only half interested?

    The Pet Thread

Here's what I feed our dog. A little pricey but imo it pays off in better health, lower vet bills, etc. http://www.canidae.com/dogs/all_life_stages/dry.html
  17. Follow up notes... The dog is now recovering at home. The case will go before a judge in about 2 weeks. A fund was set up for anyone willing to donate to help out with medical expenses (which ran over $6,000) Address and phone number below... "The benefit of Wednesday's surgery and recovery" c/o Freeport State Bank 1718 S. Dirck Dr., Freeport, Illinois 61032. TEL: (815)-297-0900
  18. Not sure I understand what story a guy could tell that would justify shooting somebody's pet Labrador. Makes absolutely no sense to me.
  19. Another health update from the owner... "Wednesday is out of surgery and doing fine. They will call me once she is coming out of the anesthesia The abscess was so large they had to cut away a good chuck of her intestents too. The bullet perforated her diaphragm and that entry point was healing well already. They said she is one lucky lucky dog! Hang in there Wednesday!" Dory
  20. Good general conversation... including different points of view. Special thanks to all with ideas / suggestions regarding legal and medical. Here's an update from the owner I just received... "Spent the whole day (Tuesday) and most of the evening at UW Madison Veterinary Care Hospital. They found an infection in Wednesday's intestines from the bullet that if not operated on would find her dead soon. They kept her in ICU overnight. Right now she is in surgery. They can't give us a guarantee, but said she is young, strong and in excellent shape. They said there is no reason to doubt that she will make it. Right now her vet bills are at $6,200 and rising. But she is worth every penny. Thank you all for your support and prayers." Dory
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 12:14 PM) Read it, still don't see anything wrong with what I've already written. I think you'd have a great career as a mafia defense attorney. lol "Judge the guy tripped and fell on my client's knife, which he was only carrying for self-defense. Anybody with common sense could see that."
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 11:57 AM) See, you're already running wild with this. And you wonder why the media would run with a story like this and sensationalize it? I'm not going to immediately believe the first article I read about animal abuse. Says the guy who didn't even read the article... lol
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 11:16 AM) Before crucifying that other guy, I'd like to hear his side of the story first. Obviously shooting the dog is going to be extreme no matter what and there were probably other measures to be taken, but who knows how many prior incidents took place? The dog's owners moved in next door March 2011, less than one year ago. They had exactly one conversation with this guy prior to the shooting... Thanksgiving... when he walked out his door with a beer in his hand and yelled at them to keep their dogs off his property. Think about the events here... A guy goes outside with his dogs. One wanders away for a few moments. He notices it missing and he hears a shot. He goes running towards it... sees the dog running towards him bleeding... during which he hears another shot which hits the brush near him. Timeline... when did the shooter have time to go get his rifle, etc? It had to be sitting somewhere relatively close and loaded. First shot... He walked 4 steps out his front door and shot the dog from 50 feet away. There was no doubt he was shooting at somebody's pet Labrador Retriever. Second shot... There was blood all the way down his drive. No doubt the dog was hit. Why the second shot? And did the shooter even think that possibly he could be endangering the owner who was calling and running towards the dog? Guy goes back into his house and then comes smiling to the front door when the owner shows up to ask what happened. Bottom Line: He not only inflicted cruelty on a companion animal (which is a Class 4 felony in Illinois)... he endangered the owner with the second shot. And he came to the door smiling about it???
  24. I know two other people from that town whose dogs have 'disappeared' in the last few months. I don't believe this was that scumbag's first rodeo. He's a deer hunter who hunts on his own property and doesn't want other people's dogs to scare them away. The fear factor for the dog's owners in this situation is that they just moved there a year ago and they RAISE dogs. Not very comforting to think you have a next door neighbor who will shoot them.
