QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) I can only watch from gamecast but looking at his velocity any signs he may be hurting? The real problem is that he keeps missing high... not by a little bit... by alot.

He's one batter away from the showers.
-
Can't find his release point.

Why is Gavin trying to get cute with Santiago? Just throw the ball by him.

Lillibridge is fast. Nice to have his speed as a reserve weapon.

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 11:51 AM) Thome leaving White Sox after this season to reunite with Manny in Cleveland Not unless he: a. is willing to play for the minimum, or b. can fill one of the holes in their starting rotation -
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 11:06 PM) Sorry for the lack of eloquence. I wouldn't worry about trying to be eloquent. You're doing a great job. Keep it going. You don't have to be concerned too much with covering the routine stuff... box-scores, etc. Your first-hand insights into the things about the games and the players that we can't see is what I like.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 08:38 PM) Reed Johnson with a fantastic catch to rob Fielder of a grand slam. He does an amazing job off the bench for the Cubs. That was a great play. I enjoyed seeing Fielder tip his cap to Johnson after the catch. Not sure I've ever seen a hitter do that before. Classy move.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 10:12 PM) Trying to give you guys some outside the box score info. I try to post as soon as I get home. Extremely valuable. I always look forward to your input after games.

DRod (Derek Rodriguez) getting maximum efficiency from his outings... He's pitched 2.2 innings and has 2 wins.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) I think anyone would have been intentionally walked in that situation. They intentioanlly walked him after the bad pickoff that moved the runners up. Probably true. But it doesn't sound as good.

I bought a Toshiba laptop about 6 months ago. Satellite L355 17" screen Dual Pentium 1.86GHz 3G RAM Running Vista Home Premium 32-Bit OS I've owned alot of computers and I really like this one. It's lightning fast. And regarding Vista? I don't have crash problems. In fact, I haven't had any problems at all. And with all the the crap I have loaded on my machine (video/audio editing software, videoconferencing apps, and approx. 100G of other resource heavy tools), I'm probably a good test case for stress-testing a computer.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) from the video I watched, I would guess TurDucken. I was guessing pork.

Only 1 of the 3 runs Hudson gave up was earned. And reading the play-by-play it doesn't appear he was pitching too badly... But... important note... he was taken out of the game after fielding a line-drive hit right at him. So, we'll have to see if there's more to that, possible injury, etc.
-
I hope I don't jinx him, but... Josh Fields has gotten on base in every game so far.
-
Not alot to cheer about so far today... Charlotte and Winston-Salem both lost. Mediocre starts by Broadway and Maxwell. Kannapolis is losing in the 4th. Dan Hudson just got knocked out of the game. And we're getting our butts handed to us, pitching-wise, by Asheville starter Christian Friedrich - the Rockies' #1 draft pick last year. Birmingham just started. Lucas Harrell started the game with an HBP on former Baron Victor Mercedes.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) I disagree, none of the guys other than Poreda can be slotted into a future White Sox rotation. They are all far too unproven at this point. Everybody in the minors is unproven, including Poreda.

QUOTE (Soxpranos @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) He's looked like crap last 2 times out. Well... come on. The first "hit" was a squibber that didn't make it to 3rd base. The only at-bat he screwed up on was the walk, and 2 of the "balls" he threw were in the strike zone. Yeah, we had to pull him with Crede coming up, but not what I would qualify as crap.

Charlotte scored a couple of runs off our old friend Boone.

QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 02:32 PM) Is upchurch gonna be in the rookie leagues again this year or will he be at kanny? Rookie league. He only pitched 7 games last year... starting 4. And he's only 19 years old. I think he'll spend (or at least start) the year at Bristol. And be at Kanny next year. Another reason for that which has nothing to do with Upchurch... Kanny's rotation this year is absolutely stacked. No room for him.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) What level is Steven Upchurch going to be at, didnt see him on Kanny's roster. He's on Bristol's roster again. He only pitched in 7 games after signing last year. And he's only 19 years old.

Recap of Kannapolis sweep... Intimidators sweep doubleheader to go to 3-0 KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Intimidators swept Saturday's doubleheader with Asheville behind a pair of strong pitching performances, winning Game 1, 3-2, before taking the nightcap, 4-1. Dexter Carter made his season debut in the second game and did not disappoint. The North Carolina-native allowed just one run on one hit in six innings while striking out six. The lone run against Carter (1-0) came without a hit thanks to a walk, two groundouts and a wild pitch. Dan Remenowsky pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning to shut the door and earn his first save of the season. Jordan Cheatham ensured that the Intimidators (3-0) never trailed in the second game, smashing the first home run of the season over the rightfield fence to put Kannapolis ahead 2-0. Kenny Williams and Matt Inouye each drove in runs in the sixth to give the Intimidators some breathing room. While Kannapolis never trailed in Game 2, it took two comebacks in Game 1 to come away with the win. The Intimidators trailed 1-0 and 2-1 before scoring the winning run in the sixth thanks to a passed ball off the glove of Jordan Pacheco. Charlie Leesman (1-0) picked up the victory behind six solid innings. The southpaw gave up two runs, one earned, on six hits and struck out three. Leroy Hunt earned the save with a quick seventh inning. The Tourists (0-3) had a chance to close the gap in the final frame, but Hunt struck out Patrick Rose and then catcher Mike Curtis picked off James Sims at first for a game-ending doubleplay. The Intimidators will send Daniel Hudson to the mound against 2008 first round draft pick Christian Friedrich on Sunday looking for a four-game sweep to start the season.

Shirek Sparkles as Dash Blank Kinston Kinston, NC – Charlie Shirek sparkled in his Carolina League debut as the Winston-Salem hurler tossed six shutout innings in leading the Dash to a 6-0 win over Kinston on Saturday night at Grainger Stadium. Matt Zaleski tossed three hitless innings of relief to preserve the shutout and collect the save for the Dash, who improved to 2-1 on the season. Winston-Salem jumped in front when they loaded the bases with nobody out in the third inning against Kinston starting pitcher Eric Berger. After James Gallagher went down on strikes, Salvador Sanchez plated a run with a single. Brent Morel followed with a bases-loaded walk to give the Dash a 2-0 lead. Winston-Salem added a run in the seventh inning as Dale Mollenhauer scored from third when Jordan Danks hit into a double-play. The Dash would add three more runs in the eighth inning sparked by a two-run double off the bat of Kyle Shelton to give Winston-Salem a 6-0 advantage. Shelton, the lone North Carolina native on the Dash roster, finished with two hits and two RBI in his first game of the season. Shirek (1-0) was the story of the night as the right-hander limited Kinston to four hits and one walk, while striking out two in six innings of work. Only one of the Indians hits made it out of the infield. Berger (0-1) took the loss for Kinston after surrendering two runs on four hits and four walks while tossing four innings.
