  1. Sox record is 90-72. Offense stays solid, even improves slighty on last year. Bullpen greatly improves. Starting pitching remains around the same. Buehrle's era returns to around 4. Vasquez wins 16 games. Garland wins 17. Contreras gets injured for a month +. The team fails to keep 5 consistent starters on the field but the pen and offense bail the team out. They make the playoffs but are beat up and they lose in the ALCS to the yankees.
  2. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 01:10 AM) Leaving Tucson it will be Floyd. By June it will be Haeger time. This thread was a good read, i agree with the ginger.
  3. Would you be so kind to elaborate on why that is a scam? I never joined, though I thought about it.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) Then you're standards are insanely high, Miguel Tejada is basically the only player that goes for a full season by those standards. Quite possibly. Give me 140-145 games of being healthy, not necessarily playing all those games and I'll call it a full season. Paul konerko for example is a healthy guy. Dye has done that 4 times. You are calling 137 and 131 games a full season of health? That's suggests being on the DL a bit to me.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) 7 full seasons out of 10 (excluding rookie year since he was called up later). And most of his injuries have been freak accidents such as fouling a ball off his shin or getting bit by spiders in his sleep this is the first time in his career that he's had any real back problems and even now it's only the occasional tightness not a slipped disc like Crede. No, it isn't serious but I think he missed like 10-15 games last year with the back problems too. I guess 15 games is normal wear and tear but I don't consider those full seasons.
  6. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) Pierre has had two bad OBP seasons, but before this year, he had a .355 lifetime and right now, according to Baseball Prospectus it's .350 and a .303 lifetime BA. He's a slap hitter that puts the ball in play. True, he doesn't walk a lot. His high was 55 in 2004, but he also doesn't strike out a lot. His high was 52 in 2002. I'm not saying we should sign him, I'm just saying you can't take one year as a sample. He actually played better when Ozzie was coaching in Florida. And as for injury-prone players...don't include Dye in that discussion. His injury was a fluke. You can't predict fouling a ball off your leg and breaking it. To me, injury prone players are ones that have hamstring or groin troubles constantly, or back trouble. The things that always pop up and consistently send them to the DL. Dye has played like 5 full seasons in his 12 year career. He has back problems too.
  7. Frank Catalanotto looks like the best option above, imo.
  8. Is Julio Lugo going to be a free agent this year or is that old news? If so what kind of contract would he demand/expect?
  9. Too bad the brewers blew a 2 run lead in the 8th.
  10. Anyone but the yankies, I guess. I would like to see maggs win, I still love maggs. I would like to see Frank win, who doesn't love frank? I have a ton of respect for the twins. If the astros made it, I would be rooting for them.
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 06:24 PM) Look at his lines the last two years. 2006 was no a fluke. Im not saying Emil Brown is the answer, but he could be guy to fall back on that isnt a bad hitter, at all. Well I agree with you there. He is a bit more proven than guys we have in the franchise.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 06:16 PM) I like his 40 2B and .357 OBP. No doubt he looks like a modest improvement in some areas if he puts up numbers like this year again. I am hoping for a little more than a 33 year old guy who might be good maybe. Did he play in Japan or something? I feel like I am missing something.
  13. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 09:20 AM) whoever wins the NL central pillowfight is winning the NL pennant. God damn Brewers blew it today. I would have loved to see houston give it another go. Its not out of the question entirely yet.
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) Two cheaper options to look at for the two hole could come from KC. Emil Brown or David Dejesus. Dejesus could be expensive, and for good reason. Guy has put up solid numbers since he got to the big leagues, and like Cheat said, if you wanted Gooch to lead off, you get to guys that can post a .350 OBP in the 1-2 spots, both having decent speed. I'll take that any day of the week. Emil Brown does not impress me at all. I hope we don't have to go that route
  15. Please tell me. I don't have a clue. Don't say pods.
  16. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:01 AM) The cell phone is no longer a Cub fan stereotype. That 400-pound jag behind home plate in the Sox jersey couldn't get off his f***ing phone yesterday, either. Every douche in the world hops on their f***ing cell phone to call home to check that "they're on TV". Hey, you f***hole, you're NOT "on TV", you're in the f***ing BACKGROUND of something on TV!!! Quoted
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 05:57 AM) Haha no hate. I actually had that made early in 04 before Damaso completely went down hill and Shingo was awesome. I just recently brought it back because I love how it looks. Oh, my bad. I thought you were mocking those guys. They both had a time where they were lights out.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) Pitt will win at least one this weekend by the way. My personal guarantee. Good call
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 05:53 AM) Don't you hate it when you're tired and can't sleep. Seems to happen to me everyday. I know you've been here for a long time, but what's up with the sig? Why the hate for a couple of guys who had some good years as sox?
  20. Wow 7 of you people have no idea what you are talking about.
  21. Are there no polls here or am I just too mariotti to make one?
