2007 White Sox Predictions Thread
max power replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2007 Season in Review
Also the Cubs this year = the mets last year. -
Personally I don't think its possible for pods, erstad and dye to remain healthy all year. One of them will most likely miss significant playing time and Brian will get the call up to play center. If dye goes down we have the worst outfield in baseball. People seem to be forgetting that he isn't the most durable outfielder either. Pods seems to be made of glass of late. I don't know if sports hernias are like other hernias but after surgery, a regular hernia is easier to injure than it was to begin with. Everyone knows erstads situation. The sox outfield is shaky at best and not likely to remain a constant all season. To me, it doesn't really matter who starts on opening day because it will more than likely change.

2007 White Sox Predictions Thread
max power replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2007 Season in Review
Here is another prediction, the twins finish the year under .500 and in 4th place. Also, Santana has his worst year in a long time and possibly gets injured. -
That doesn't make it right.

Amazing goal. What a shocker, MN won the trophy.

Tank Johnson gets 120 Days in Jail
max power replied to chimpy2121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(shipps @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 04:07 AM) It bothers me that the only reason he got what he did is because of his celebrity. One of the top prosecutors in this state is going against him for a MISDEMEANOR c'mon.I have no problem with sending him to jail because he is a jackass, but the same punishment should be given to all these other creeps.More so the regular guys who violate because they are probably career criminals,Tank atleast has a pro career and is less of a threat to the community. That's just not how it works. Tank has a better lawyer, a lawyer who can make a case out of nothing. The lawyer negotiates for the charge to be reduced to a misdemeanor. He pleads guilty. Its about money not celebrity. -
I guess you could say, I'm not a fan.

What a total waste of a human being. I hope he vomits dip juice all over himself, falls in the street trying to clean himself up, gets run over by a dump truck, and dragged half a mile until his entire body is raw, then gets stabbed in the anus with a rusty switch blade.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) Hypothetically: What if it comes out that, say, Greg Maddux is a crackhead. Are we going to keep him out of the hall because that's "messed up" or something? Keep him out for the kids? What if, say, it comes out that Mariano Rivera gambled on his own performances. "I'll bet I can save this game." Should he be kept out? I can't understand why Pete Rose isn't a HOFer. Because MLB wants to make a point about gambling? about lying? as if this organization of Jeff Loria's and Barry Bonds' is some living breathing allegory? I'm all for players being role-models but I don't think Kirby Puckett's violence against women should keep him from the Hall. I don't think Paul Molitor or Tim Raines' drug use should keep them from the Hall. I don't think Pete Rose' gambling should keep him from the Hall. Guess I'm just crazy. The fact is greg maddux isn't a crack head. He is a child molester.

Personally I think mack is a lock to make the team for a variety of reasons. I can't believe all this talk of him being unnecessary when he is somewhat versatile. Although its a minor detail- Isn't mack also the emergency catcher? You almost have to have one of those. Its far more likely that two of perez, anderson or terrero are sent packing imo .

Haha perfect. All those cubs fans got their hopes up.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 06:01 PM) he needs his fastball back in the high 90's I saw one hit 99 but no others have been close
-
Bobby Jenks to close this crap out
-
6-3 sox heading into the top of the 9th
-
If I were trying out for the sox I would just change my name to McGrinder. Max McGrinder starting in CF
-
QUOTE(Capn12 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) OK, we don't need Gooch hurt, unless theres a grinder out there on the FA market that can play 2B... lmao

I am afraid to read this thread after yesterday's

Maybe I shouldn't have said "gold." Still, most people thought they would be reliable and not a 'question mark' like this guy wrote.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) "can of worms" is a figure of speech meaning "A source of unforeseen and troublesome complexity." For years posters such as "The Cheat" (AKA GeneHondaCivic) have challenged the belief that White Sox starting pitcher Mark Buehrle is an ace much to the dismay of many fellow Sox fans. This opened the proverbial "Can of Worms", if you will. I missed the post where someone said "can." I thought maybe all the worm talk was related to some buehrle quote.
-
What does that have to do with worms? *not following this*
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 09:30 PM) Cotts? No. Politte? Yes. I predicted after the '05 season that Politte would not be a on the big club come August either throw injury or ineptitude. Cotts I had my doubts with but I never imagined he would be that bad. I only meant to speak for the majority of sox fans, not the all knowing "Kalapse."
-
I don't get it. "worms" ???!!?
-
If its that disappointing, trade it to the Mariners like joe borchard.

QUOTE(G&T @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 10:28 AM) That I'll agree with. He could have poked for more information but he didn't want to get under Rowand's skin. ...and yet he did get under his skin by calling him a 'guy who runs into walls and gets injured'
-
I just listened, and I agree with fathom that he sounds miserable and would like to come back soon. That said, its really up to kenny and the phillies; he obviously didn't speak on their behalf. Mike North- on a side note this was one of his worst interviews on his part ever
