  1. Nice catch there by Pods.
  2. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) Was it just me, or do anybody else come away from the interview with Kenny Williams and Ozzie in the second inning thinking Brian Anderson is going to Charlotte? Sure didn't hear his name mentioned and it sounded like they expect Erstad to get a lot of at bats. considering what Ozzie has already said about Anderson needing to go to the minors if he isn't the everyday CF, he's a dead man. 2 quotes from Oz confirmed what we all know really: "The bottom of the order with Erstad, then Pods healthy will do alot for us." "The defense up the middle with Uribe and Erstad really will help us out." In not exact words, but yeah...
  3. As the biggest Pods hater, I likes the bunt idea...wouldn't hold that against him really, was placed right, just a bit too hard.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 04:46 PM) So, will BA have to hit .400 this spring to stay on the roster? Lets face it, BA could be hitting .800 and he'd still be on his way to Charlotte. Oz is making all sorts of subconscious comments that all but confirm that Ba has a snowballs chance in hell of being in Chicago come April.
  5. Uribe singlehandedly trying to keep KW on air forever by fouling off 2000 pitches
  6. Sigh.... I give Erstad 40 games in CF before he is hurt or an extreme liability there. I hate this BS about saying we're tryingto build one way, and doing something totally opposite in the personnel moves. "High ceiling" guys eh KW? Erstads ceiling in CF is that impressive you you and Oz huh.
  7. Uh...ok you hear Oz there? "The key is the bottom of the lineup, with Erstad and Pods back in the lineup." Says volumes about BA and Chicago this year.
  8. Ow, ok, no more calls from KW
  9. Hah, KW calling for a hit and run
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 04:25 PM) So did Mr No Groin have the tag waiting for it, or was it close. Not so close at all really, but it was Blanco behind the plate. He owns us on the basepaths.
  11. ..... Unbelievable collapse..
  12. Yay, here comes Prancer!! And they got the audio fixed at least.
  13. Jesus....3 of 10 from the FT line??? I feel this one slipping away from Winthrop
  14. If Winthrop doesn't stop trying to run toe to toe with ND, they are gonna let the Irish back into this =/ They are better slowing the game down, and for gods sake, hit some GD free throws!!
  15. WGN, we all get to see it! Is it just me, or is the audio circa 8 track tape quality on WGN?
  16. Wisconsin shooting 16% from the field...holy hell. And its not like they can come from behind with huge point outbursts.
  17. I could be happy without Pods in any form, but since we decided to build this team around the notion that we need no other leadoff type hitter, I guess I want him in if hes healthy as well.
  18. No no, I meant Winthrop had the talent, that Wisconsin game is just an anomoly, and Wisc has been dreadful offensively for a while now.
  19. Was 13-3 the first day, losing no Sweet 16 teams. Maybe my best start ever tbh.
  20. I had Wisc out in the next round anyways.... In all 7 or so online brackets I did though, Winthrop was picked everytime, this team has talent.
  21. The Show is above and beyond, WAY better than 2k07 if you have PS2 or PS3. I can honestly say that The Show 07 is the best baseball game I've played ever. Every little aspect of the game is pretty crazy. I've had Erstad thrown out of the game on a close play at 1st on a bunt attempt, I had Nick Punto hurt himself on a swing, and he stepped out of the box to try and stretch it out, the umps have their own strike zones, etc...theres tons of nuances that make it great. I'm 5-4 after 9 games, I struggled in Oakland just like real life. Buehrle got shelled in his start there.
  22. Is one really any better than the other? Honestly?
  23. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 03:01 AM) so the point of this thread is a healthy Pods is a bad thing? And correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it Ozzie Guillen who gave BA a vote of confidence last June when he couldn't get a hit to save his ass and everyone was screaming for him to be sent down? weird s***. The point of this thread is an OF of Erstad/BA/Dye > Erstad/Pods/Dye Having a LF/CF combo of Erstad and Pods is screaming for defensive difficulty in that area, you know, where lots of right handed hitters pull the ball to. Pods can't throw for hamburgers, and we want him to anchor our CF position? The guy that hasn't had a good read on a flyball since 2003? Pods makes a great reserve OFer. He can run(in theory), he can spell Erstad because we all know asking Erstad to play 150 games in the OF isn't gonna happen, and he can be a great late game asset. But fact is, Oz is in love with having his 'grinders' out there in LF and CF.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) Just a couple quick comparisons I came up with off the top of my head: Alfonso Soriano through 394 career ABs: 98H | 55R | 25 2B | 9HR | 38RBI | .249/.280/.391/.670 Aramis Ramirez through 399 career ABs: 89H | 29R | 16 2B | 7HR | 38RBI | .223/.283/.326/.609 Brian Anderson through 399 career ABs: 88H | 49R | 24 2B | 10HR | 36RBI | .221/.281/.361/.642 Miguel Tejada through 400 career ABs: 91H | 55R | 21 2B | 10HR | 48RBI | .228/.293/.370/.663 Paul Konerko through 398 career ABs: 93H | 42R | 14 2B | 13HR | 48RBI | .234/.286/.372/.658 Troy Glaus through 400 career ABs: 93H | 59R | 26 2B | 12HR | 53RBI | .233/.301/.388 /.689 So yeah, Brian Anderson is pretty f***ed. I'm gonna have to ask you not to go and throw simple facts into this disillusioned argument mister.
