Lets look for The Count of 3 and 2 to go out there and get back to back quality starts for us. He looked VERY sharp last time out, lets give him more than 1 run this time though PLEASE!!
-
I'll believe in whatever I have to, if it means this Sox team goes deep into the playoffs and the WS!
-
The back end of this pitching staff... Cotts, Politte, Hermanson, Marte, Vizcaino...I think alot of people overlook what these guys are doing. They are quietly doing their job everytime they are called upon. Sure Viz has been shaky for alot of this year, but seeing Shingo get designated maybe lit the fire under his ass. Our pitching is just incredible, even with The Count of 3 and 2, and El Duque struggling sometimes.
-
VERY nicely done He Gawn!! Thank you much, I'm sporting it now.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) The sky is falling again, we're losing a game through 6. Season over Ya, I can't believe this team has the audacity to try and lose a game this year!! When does football start?
-
Duque apparently got some advice from The Count of 3 and 2 before this game.
-
Lets NOT go get Schmidt and pretend we did. Duque is just fine as a 5th starter thanks. We aren't gonna have 5 20 game winners in the rotation. Its the guys first start after a DL trip....IMO he had great movement on his stuff, was hitting 90+ on the fastball. Thats all we need from him. Lets not go get another pitcher just because Schmidt used to be good.

OK Goldy...I'm callin for you!! You made this one also I'm pretty sure...

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) Ask yourself this, Would Podsednik deserve to be in the ASG with his current .289/.363/.337 and 41 SB with the Sox 5 games under .500? No F'n way. You guys are letting the Sox great record cloud your vision. He's 20th out of the 21 qualified LFers in terms of OPS. He's in the middle of the pack in avg, and OBP. -- He's an average at best defensive OFer. Essentially he's a one tool player. He has speed. That's it. That's not an All-Star. Couldn't have said it better myself, unfortunately. Pods is teh product of being the tablesetter for the best team in baseball.

I'll stand on my position that I want NO PART of a trade for Vizquel and/or Schmidt. We have better options in house for BOTH of those players, and at fractions of the cost. At this point in their careers, Uribe > Vizquel in terms of ability. Argue with me if you want, but I'm sorry, Uribe will be just fine. Schmidt as of right now with his status is no better than Duque or The Count of 3 and 2.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) He really needs to quit walking people. If he can get his control back and throw strikes he'll be just fine. He isn't called The Count of 3 and 2 for nothing Nuke.

Fact remains that: Yes, there were people with better stats who you could argue were more deserving. Yes, there are better all around players that got left out of the game this year while Pods, who excels at 1 area, got in. BUT...those facts don't matter, because Pods won on the fans vote, and he is making a huge impact on the MLBs BEST TEAM. So peopel can say what they want about someone 'deservign' it more than Pods. Fact is, this is how the voting is setup. Don't piss and moan about it when the Yankees don't get 17 players into the All Star game every year. Its all part of the fans being first and foremost in charge of the product they want to see, the way it is SUPPOSED to be.

that is, without a doubt, one of the fastest bans on a "new" member i've ever seen

"Holy Jason Vorhees lives again Batman" on this thread...how in the hell...or WHY in the hell do some of you guys go an find 2 year old threads to bump out of f***ing nowhere...

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) What is this Real World that you speak of? Did it get mixed up with the Lost World? You know DBAH0..."The Real World"!! The one where we let people live rent free, in a house they'd never afford otherwise, give them everything they ened to survive, let them do some "job" where they interact with celebrities, one where we send them on occasional vacations to say....Jamaica....for all of their hard work. That show is more useless than Richard Simmons at a Hooters Restaurant.

FYI it was 2 HRs that The Count of 3 and 2 gave up.

Gooch has a huge intangible meaning to this team and its success. He has been key in many, many tying/go ahead innings, always doing what Oz asks of him and never questioning. Add to the fact that he is doing it against a league of pitchers and hitters that he has never faced or seen....its quite amazing.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) I think he's hurt. Knee injury or something. BoSox management wanted him to get surgery in the offseason, and he didn't. He's lost 2-3 MPH off of his fastball and his mechanics are way off from year's past. 2-3 MPH off of Foulkes fastball means he is throwing some serious BP. I don't want to see Foulke fail. I met him quite a few times, and can honestly say he was a class act. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean anything in the Boston market. Results are what matters, and he isn't getting it done right now.

I don't know about all that Irish, but the kid does have the raw "stuff" that not many possess. Past skeletons in his closet will always be associated with the kid, but hopefully he has matured enough to handle the pressure in the majors, in a pennant race no less. Time will tell.

Jesus that last offspeed pitch was just FILTHY to strike Lugo out..

I'm thinking something with the Captain America theme, but want Cotts, Hermy, and Politte in it. Some catch phrase about teh bullpen like umm..."Protecting leads across America" or something. Thanks in advance.
-
my man Cotts, doin what he does best....
-
yup Al, I expect someone from the bullpen to be perspiring out on the mound by the 6th inning no doubt. Sad to say, but true.
