I guess El Caballo is happy being under .500
QUOTE(Rohan @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) We saved money in a left fielder by signing podsednik.. That enabled to get a lot of the other players which this team really needs.. Think about it.. C. Lee was getting paid a lot more than Podsednik is now. So that allowed us to sign Dye, Pierzynski, Iguchi, and other core players. Not to mention Luis Vizcaino, who has been doing a great job out of the pen... Give Ozzy some credit just because the obvious stats show negativity, doesn't mean we can't think out of the box and see what that trade truely opened up for us... Dont get me wrong, I still am very glad we made the deal...but Vizcaino has been doing nothing close to a "great job out of the pen"

Favorite Channel
Actually we have Dish Network at my house, and honestly if my TV isn't on ESPN or WGN for the rare Sox game on.. my TV stays on Alt Nation, Sirius Satelite Radio.

Inside the numbers...
I enjoy putting some numbers out there for folks that may not look inside the numbers as much as I do, so heres some more food for thought... OFFENSE: ChiSox are 8th in MLB in runs scored, dead last in doubles (surprising IMO), 6th in HRs, 7th in RBIs, 21st in Ks (thats good), 1st in SBs, 16th in BA. PITCHING: ChiSox are 1st in Wins (obviously), 2nd in ERA, 2nd in Saves, 1st...1ST in runs allowed, 18th in walks allowed, 3rd in WHIP (bit of a surprise considering Contreras and El Duque), 1st in opponents BA Some individual stuff... Neal Cotts in his last 9 games, line reads like this: 13.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 5 BB, 16 Ks, 0.51 WHIP, 0.00 ERA Mark Buehrle in his last 4 starts: 31 IP, 29 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 HR, 2 BB, 25 Ks, 1.00 WHIP, 0.87 ERA, 2 Wins Jermaine Dye, last 8 games played: 28 ABs, 7 R, 10 H, 4 HRs, 7 RBI, 4 BBs, 2 Ks, .357 BA

Jason Schdimt to the Sox??
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 12:13 AM) Pure speculation on the wrighters part. I don't want him anyway, he's overpriced considering what we'd have to give up for him. Why should we go after a guy who is already struggling and hope that he turns it around for us. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 03:11 AM) Is that a joke? So THATS where Dan Wright is now!

More Illini football problems
Off-season problems? No one has had it as rough as my beloved South Carolina Gamecocks. Luckily Spurrier is taking no s***, filtering out the bad that Holtz left him. I am still glad that Holtz gave us what he did, but right now Spurrier is having to do ALOT of cleaning house so to speak.

Ozzie The Best Sox Mgr Ever
Minus some mismanaging of the bullpen, Oz has been very solid. But he does tend to play into those righty/righty and lefty/lefty matchups too much sometimes. Sometimes a guy is in a groove out there, and Oz makes bad bullpen decisions, overworking the pen arms.

Starter to go After
Sounds great in theory. Hell I'd love Oswalt on the Southside...heres what I know though: Signed 2 year, $16.9 million contract for 2005 and 2006. He is listed as making $5.9 mill this year. I'm assuming that part of that $16.9 was signing bonus, if he is under $10 mill next year, I'm on the phones if I'm KW.

THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!
Yep Jordan, a team that has already dropped the first 2 AT HOME to a Tigers team in blowout fashion too. Why do we have such a big lead over the Twinkies?? ChiSox vs. AL Central: 23-5 Twinkies vs. AL Central: 16-14

Joe Randa - Whitesox a possibility
Name G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG E Josh Fields 66 241 36 55 9 0 8 41 88 23 78 4 3 .303 .365 .228 13 That screams "I'm not ready!" to me. Thats an alarming 1 K/ 3 ABs rate, fastly approaching Joe Borchard land there.

Minor league teams to play 'virtually'
Northern League is an Independent League, no affiliates. Pretty cool idea though, I like the zany things some PR people come up with in baseball.

Juan Pierre is on the trading block
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) Pierre is not injury prone and that's an asinine statement but what is not ist that you cna't have two of your outfielders combine for less than 5 homers. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 01:46 AM) Our defense would have one and a half arms. Arow can throw, and the other two have noodle arms. The range would be good, but runners wouldnt think twice about taking another base on Pierre's and Pods' arm. Quoted for the most truth in the thread.

More eating crow on Kenny Williams
Unfortunately Olivo has his great arm, and that apparently is about it. Not terribly accurate arm, bad game caller, and not much of a hitter. Reed was the one alot of us didn't want to lose, but fortunately Duane Schaffer and the staff made us feel better about it with Brian Anderson.
