Um...Carl Everett has had exactly ONE 30 HR season in his career. So to say he is a 30 HR threat is like saying Konerko is a threat t olead the team in SBs, because he did at one time this year. It was a great thing to have Everett in our lineup last year, but it was not a great thing to have Everett penciled in at CF for defensive purposes.

And, lets not forget, he actually knows how to a) hit the cutoff man and B) throw to the right base. Everett had no clue in CF.

Trust me Heather....I'm on thin ice when it comes to Billy after todays performance. But I still know that Koch can get the job done. I am starting to tire of his attempt to rectify the situation by using comedy when talking to the press. He looked too damn good so far this year before today to just make the general "Koch sucks" statement that people seem to love to use. I believe that Koch can get it done, and I still believe that he will. I'm just sort of at a loss after seeing him perform in the 2nd of back to back outings. He looked completely like the Koch of last year that had no tailing action at all on his pitches. Thats NOT the Billy Koch that was out there the first 7 games.

UM...how bout we say Koch hasn't looked good in his last outing...singular. That was teh first bad outing he has had this year. Now don't get me wrong, he flat out sucked today. But he had no movement on any pitches, and was only hitting 93 tops. Seems as if Ozzie or Coop could have been able to see that Billy had no movement, and wasn't popping his fastball. Luckily, we used him in a 12-5 game in the 9th inning the day before :headshake

And todays 9th inning is what happens when Koch DOESN"T have any movement. Good Lord...that was piss-poor. Everyone here knows I'm the biggest Koch supporter here, but there's NO excuse for that. How many goddamn 93 mph fastballs do you expect to groove down the middle to Carlos Beltran and Mike Sweeney, and get by them? You can't just throw it by major league hitters, Billy....or did you not get that memo?

WTF are you talking about? Have you even watched any games hes pitched in this year? He is hitting 95-97, and ALL of his pitches have tailing movement. He is hitting his spots, and has pitched well. I don't know what the hell some of you want...maybe we should see if we can convince a 50-something year old Dennis Eckersley to come close for us, will that make all of you happy? Damnit, I don't mind defending Koch when some of you have a good argument, but have some kind of basis for what you are whining about before you try to post negative things about Koch. Try actually watching the games sometime.

Settle down Nuke...he made an error, and hit a kid apparently. He came back, moved his pitches around, and got the outs. He did his job in a game he shouldn't have been in. He faced almost all lefties as a righty, and got them all out but the 1 ground ball hit.

Whatever...you can say what you want, but Billy looked damn good out there...he threw 1 away, but I'll be damned if he didnt have movement on his pitches, and got the outs.

But, notice that was a tailing fastball....moveing away from the lefty...I'm not sure I agree with lettin Koch pitch here..with all these lefties due up here...makes more sense for Marte to have been in.
