Sounds simple in theory, but when it comes to cold, hard numbers....I bet its ALOT easier to get the contract for Garland done right now then it is for Buehrle. The club has leverage with Garland, his amount of success is not that of Buehrles. Add to that the fact that Buehrle has already declined one contract offer(I'm not arguing whether it was a fair one or not), and I'm sure the higher-ups are thinking, "We know we can get the deal woth Jon done now, we'll worry about Buehrle after we know where we stand with Colon."

Agreed SS2K3, and I have long thought that I was in the minority of those that thought Damaso is too good of a Set-up man to make him closer. If that happened, then we have no one consistent enough to bridge us to the closer.
