  1. I'm not so sure that SJSU can take Nevada out...what, nevermind, I'm thinking UNLV...yeah, Nevada is BAD. In other noews, my USC boys should be 3-1 after this weeks thrashing of UAB. Sets up nicely for a road trip to Knoxville Tennessee.
  2. Thing is, I'm pretty sure that Schoene will be back next year, considering what we gave up, and the fact that it is KW. And I'm positive that Koch will be back. Everett doesn't need to be back really, IMO. Thats where the real money savings are gonna come. 9.15 Mill that can be put towards Colon, and others.
  3. 1. Carl Everett 9,150,000 Unrestricted FA 2. Magglio Ordonez 9,000,000 One more year, 14 mill 3. Bartolo Colon 8,250,000 Unrestricted FA 4. Roberto Alomar 7,689,684 Wants 2 year deal, at signifigantly less porbably 5. Paul Konerko 6,250,000 8 mill in 2004, 8.75 in 2005, 50K raise if traded 6. Jose Valentin 5,000,000 Unrestricted FA 7. Frank Thomas 5,000,000 Mutual options, gonna either cost us 6 or 8 mil 8. Billy Koch 4,250,000 6.375 mill in 2004, 6.5 mill if he pitches in 65 g. 9. Carlos Lee 4,200,000 Arbitration eligible 10. Scott Sullivan 2,800,000 3.1 mill option, or 250K buyout 11. Tom Gordon 1,400,000 Unrestricted FA 12. Sandy Alomar Jr. 700,000 Unrestricted FA 13. Tony Graffanino 675,000 Unrestricted FA 14. Kelly Wunsch 575,000 Unrestricted FA 15. Esteban Loaiza 500,000 3.5 mill team option in 2004, or 150K buyout 16. Armando Rios 450,000 Unrestricted FA 17. Brian Daubach 450,000 Unrestricted FA 18. Mark Buehrle 445,000 Arbitration eligible 19. Jon Garland 375,000 Arbitration eligible 20. Damaso Marte 330,000 Unrestricted FA 21. Dan Wright 325,000 Arbitration eligible or Restricted FA 22. Aaron Rowand 320,000 Arbitration eligible or Restricted FA 23. Joe Crede 315,000 only Arbitration eligible I think 24. Miguel Olivo 300,000 only Arbitration eligible I think 25. Josh Stewart 300,000 only Arbitration eligible I think 26. Scott Schoeneweis 1,425,000 Unrestricted FA -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Team Salary : 68,949,684 OK, so if we keep the team intact, its gonna be a Payroll of at least $85,260,000. Thats with Everett at this years salary, Robbie at 5 mil, Colon at this years salary, CLee at 7 mil, Flash at 2 mil, Jose at 5mil, Buehrle at 1 mil, Garland at 800K, Marte at 800K, Wright at 400K, Schoenweis at 1 mil, and the young guys at the same salary. Obviously, this isn't gonna happen. So, my best guess is that Everett walks, clearing 9.15 Mil. Jose walks, clearing 5 mil. Daubach and Rios walk, clearing 900K. Then, I believe that Sullivan leaves, clearing 3.1 mil, but costing us 250K to buy it out. That brings us to $67,360,000. Now we'd have a couple spots to fill, but I see that as doable myself. It all hinges on Colon agreeing to the 8 mil year contract, preferrably 3 years, and Robbie at 5 mil for 2 years. It also depends on the arbitration costs. This is doable. Your thoughts?
  4. I'm not sure there is anyway possible to sign Colon to a 3 year deal, honestly. Think of the $$$ that will tie up with this "mid-range" payroll we have to keep. Maggs will be up for a new deal after 2004 I believe, CLee is due, Buehrle is due, Loz gets a BIG pay raise, Jose(if we keep him) is due, most of the bullpen is due. There isn't enough money to go around, IMO....and Everett is also as good as gone.
  5. my USC boys get a bit of a break this week after the smacking by UGa last week. Its UAB at home this week, so we can run the record to 3-1 going into the UcheaT game in Knoxville.
  6. Well, it won't be until February 2004, but thats when a new Fiona Apple CD comes out, and boy is it overdue!!! Been 5 years since the last one.
  7. 5. Wasnt it Howard Cosell on Monday Night Football? I'm pretty sure it was on MNF, but not sure who it was.
  8. Hmmm, Top 10 Beatles songs...thats is indeed a tough thing to do...I'll try to get it to 14, thats the best I can do. 14. Old Brown Shoe 13. I'm Only Sleeping. 12. The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill 11. I Want You (She's So Heavy) 10. You Never Give Me your Money 9. I'm Looking Through You 8. Helter Skelter 7. Dear Prudence 6. Glass Onion 5. A Day In the Life 4. Don't Let Me Down 3. Happiness is a Warm Gun 2. Rocky Raccoon 1. In My Life That is not easy to do.
  9. Wasn't it Billy Preston on the keyboards?
  10. No,No, No!!! I am teh biggest Beatles fan in South Carolina...have benn for quite some time. I'd have to say that either the first disc of the White Album, or Revolver is my favorite Beatles album. If ya'll are gonna do a Top 10 list, that'd be nice...I can do that I think.
  11. Might I add, here off-topic...my USC boys got whooped yesterday, I was not happy at all.....But alas, life goes on. And so you know, UGa is THAT good, believe it.
  12. Who 'da thought after Operation Free Pass friday night that we woulda looked so good pitching in the final 2 games of the series? Heres to hoping that Danny Wright's turn in the rotation gets skipped.
  13. I'm pretty sure its safe to say that we all root for all the guys in Sox unis. I personally have been a non-Colon fan for quite some time, but it is noce to see him getting it done right now. We have had quite a few boneheads in Sox unis, and although we rooted for them based on their team affiliation, its safe to say that ALL of us have certain "players" that we are not fans of. I think NOlivo is about as effective as Mark Johnson at the plate, but I still support him because of that Sox emblem. Right now, I'd have to say that Jonny G. could be the true unsung hero. He has had quite a string of quality starts, and that coming out of the #4 spot is invaluable. Now if only we could find the elusive #5.....
  14. Name: Tommy Gunn Position: HB Height: 6'0" Weight: 180 Number: 12 Specialty: Quickness
  15. 488 actually...but even still...Good Christ, has Illinois ever seen what the rest of the nation calls a "Defensive Coordinator"? Thats pathetic...The D.C. shoulda been fired on the spot for that performance.
  16. Hmm, Stewart...thats...what ..I put there....I didn't edit my post....
  17. We already have a 4-man rotation if ya think about it.....4 men: Loaiza, Buehrle, Colon and Garland...then we have a 4-man #5 starter...Wright, Cotts, Porzio and Stewart.
  18. GO BRADLEY!!! Ohhhhhh, that's right!!! Bradley doesn't even HAVE a football team!!! Apparently, after seeing the stats from the Illinois-Illinois St. game, Illinois State doesnt have much of a football team either!!!
  19. I am completely underwhelmed at this performance...>WOW!!! Great job, pitching staff...I guess we figured that since Boston has the best offense in the league, the best way to minimize their hitting damage is to just not let them hit, give them the base on balls, and concede the runner. What the f***...A.L. Central Title, is there anyone out here that actually wants it? Step right up, its yours for the taking!!!
  20. I can't tell you how happy I am to have Armando Rios on the team. The guy is a player....great addition to the team. And I mean that in the most sarcastically possible way.
  21. We are now on our 5th pitcher, whom is our closer....now we'll get to see if Colon is the "Ace" so many people claim he is tomorrow. We will be short handed in the Pen, and on a 3 game losing streak. Me, I already think he'll fail, and I hope he can prove me wrong.
  22. That Everett at-bat was pretty craptacular.
  23. We're really crushing the ball tonight, I tell ya what!!!
  24. I'll live up to my nickname here, and let you all in on a little secret: You can't win a game when you walk 12 f***ing batters in 5+ IP. Jesus Christ, the whole bullpen is gonna be used tonight, and we have to Hope and Prey that Colon and Buehrle can pitch well, without bullpen help.
