  1. Vince, here are the totals: beastly was 32-18, with no bonus pick Soxheads was 37-13, with WMU (W) and 54 pts ytz37 was 35-15, with Ohio (L) and 66 pts.
  2. Thats about what I had heard too. 10-12 mil is about where I had pegged Colon's worth also. If any team offers him more than that then they are grossly overpaying for him. Anything over 10-12 mill per season for Colon is too much....and justifiably so, thats all that KW should have offered. If he goes to Boston or New York, and gets more, its their problem to deal with. What was done is all that can be done by KW concerning Colon...all he could have done was MAYBE offer 1 more year, but then we get financially obligated to him for 40-44 mil instead of 30-33, and I'm sure it took all the convincing in the world by KW to get JR to pay out that much.
  3. 2002 Athletics 103-59 $39,679,746 They seemed to be ok, too...with that "stiff" closer.
  4. 2002 Angels 99-63 $61,721,667 Hmm, I remember this team having a little bit of success in 2002....with a low payroll.
  5. After his season this year, I think Renteria will cost us alot more than we'll pay...Matsui probably would also, but I just like all the potentially good things that could come with having Matsui here at shortstop.
  6. Sullivan, as a situational bullpen guy, is NOT worth his 3.1 million dollar option IMO. Not with the financial limitations the Sox have.
  7. While I do agree that Colon is the #1 priority, I don't really thin we need Gordon back, at the price he is gonna command....we don't need to tie up the 2-3 mill minimum Tom will want to come back. We have Marte, and hopefully Koch can revert back to non-tired arm form next year.

Nothing wrong, like the 94 innings he threw last year for the A's, and the fact that he was no doubt trying to throw 98+ EVERYTIME. Oh yeah, and the fact that he;s had Tommy John surgery once already....yeah, nothing wrong with that picture.

Yeah people, jeez...whats up with the huge signatures??
  10. Count me in on that trip also, mmmmmmmmmmbeer...I have the utmost confidence in KW doing what is needed for this team in 2004 and beyond.
  11. If you can get Colon for 10 mill per season, you HAVE to take it. Me, I'm probably in the minority here, but I'll take Colon at $10 mill/season over Maggs at $14 mill/2004 season. We can find another RFer, but not too many #1/#2 starters fall in your lap.
  12. So, you want Bartolo to be extended an offer of 12-14 mill over 3 seasons? Lets see, that would mean that he and Maggs, 2 players, would be responsible for approx. 47% of a $60 mill payroll, and thats stretching it considering most think it will top off at 55 mill. Thats obsurd. You cant have half your payroll in 2 players....and the other half in 23 other active players. Sorry, it cant happen.
  13. If Colon walks away, f*** him. KW convinced JR to do what he never would do in the past, extending that kind of cash to a pitcher, AND doing it for 3 years. If Colon does actually like it here, he'll seriously consider it. If he was just talking to drum up interest from others, f*** him, buh-bye. Go play for the $200 million Yankees...

I think Frank can make it to 500 HRs, I just think that the last 40-50 may be with a different team....and while not THE best Sox player ever, he is definately Top 5 in this franchises history.
  15. what kind of hitter is he? power? 2003 statistics (as of Sept. 5): G-HR-RBI-SB-AVG-OBP-SLG 119-27-67-10-.304-.367-.541 He is a pretty good all around shortstop...all depends on his price....I'd love to have him, rest assured
  16. Everyone but Everett may be able to return. We will have nowhere to play Everett consistently, and even worse, he'd be our 2nd or 3rd highest paid position player. I love what he did for us, but to me, its either Everett or Maggs, pick your poison.
  17. Tell me you are not serious???? You think Coop and Walker should be fired?? UH, I'm sorry to relate this little 'tidbit' of info to you, but Cooper has been the best thing to happen to White Sox pitchers in quite some time. Also, Crede, Rowand, and the rest of the guys that came through the system are products of Walk's system. Kimm, while not a great 3B coach, at least he wasn't Wavin Wally.
  18. I guess its easy to sit here and b**** and moan that "the offer probably wasn't close to what the Yanks and/or Boston will offer." Well no s***!!! We don't have the 100+ million dollar payrolls that those 2 teams have. If KW convinced JR to extend the largest contract offer we've ever offered to Colon, and he still rejects it, well too f***ing bad Colon. KW made giant strides to bring him back, and to put Colon in a position to be financially secure for his career. Everyone on here thinks we are gonna magically create a $80+ million payroll for 2004, even though JR has NEVER done so. Bzzzt!! It ain't gonna happen, so for us to offer what we did to Colon should be enough to let KW sleep at night, and know he did what he could to bring Bartolo back.
  19. First off, there is no way you unload Koch right now, at his absolute lowest value possible. You tell Billy to go home, stay in shape, and don't pick up a baseball until February 2004. All you can hope is that the arm will recover from its overuse, and he can be back to 96-98 MPH. You can't get rid of the guy at 6+ mill owed in 2004, and get ANYTHING, and you'll probably be asked to take some of that salary to boot. Konerko, if it is possible, yeah, we should move him. Don't know if it is, but I wish we could. Herse the problem. Maggs, Everett, Frank, Konerko .....If you keep Frank and Konerko, Everett is as good as gone .....if you keep Frank and Maggs, Everett is as good as gone, maybe PK .....if you keep Everett and Frank, Konerko and maybe Maggs are gone Theres no way to keep all 4, so who do you wanna see gone? Me, I would like to move Konerko if possible, and then decide between Everett and Maggs. If keeping Everett means we can get a real SS and/or sign Bartolo, then sorry, but Maggs and his $14 million salary have to go. We are too financially strapped by max payrolls to have one player make 20% of the payroll.
  20. My bad. I messed up on his promotion. But either way, Everett and Miles should be here. Dorn should not... Roman, it isnt all about production for every player. Economics is a part of this game, whether you like it or not. Everett at 7+ mill vs. AaRow at under 500K, sorry, this one to JR and the boys is a no-brainer. Rowand is a better defensive outfielder, plays as hard as Everett, doesn't have the power that Carl has, but with the rest of the lineup, that $$$ is better spent elsewhere.
  21. Actually, Roman, he was recalled on June 10th...he was in AAA for all of May. And since June 1st, he has had: 97 ABs, 37 H, 6 Doubles, 6 HRs, 22 RBI, and only 11 K's. Quick math will tell ya that is a .381 Avg, and most of those ABs came late in the game, as a PHer.
  22. Ya think that maybe that motorcycle wreck he had mighta just had some affect on his start? Everett's "heart" in CF doesnt make up for the fact that he has no clue how to play Center. He throws it to the wrong base, never gets good reads off the bat, and quite often is bailed out by CLee and Maggs. We don't need an overpriced defensive liability, we have quite a few of those already. Go look at AaRows stats since after he was called back up, and tell me he hasnt performed when given the opportunity.
  23. Is being a hypocrite one of your better qualities, Roman? Josh is Puerto Rican I believe. Out of all the rebuttals that were made to your post, all you could find to post about is someones spelling? Very juvenile.
  24. Well, you must remember that Gordon is not signed for next year, and he will make plenty o' money, as there are already a couple teams interested in making a run at him. Koch, we have him for 2004 whether or not we like it. All we can do is hope he cando absolutely nothing all winter, let his arm rest, and come back like gangbusters for ST. Our best option is to move Konerko, and that will be VERY hard to do right now. With his 8 mil, you can get Colon back. We lose Everetts salary, because we can't afford him....Robbie, theres an enigma....I'd like to have him back, but I'd just as soon let Harris/Miles play there to save the $$$. Shortstop, I think it will be well known before winter is over that both Jason and I are firm believers in Kazuo Matsui. Does that mean JR will go after him? Of course not, we probably won't be anywhere near the running for him. We have some holes to fill, and not alot of $$$ right now to fill them.
  25. Are you sure, Roman.....are you sure he is the only player who plays all out all the time??? Are you sure that we dont have someone who, despite being a guy who gives his all, had the second fewest ABs of anyone on our regular roster?? In case you still don't know who I speak of, AaRow deserves his shot, he's played with intensity when given the chance to play, and he doesnt cost 7+ mill like Everett.
