Yeah, Past, that was the story. Go read todays Tribune online though. Apparently Windsock KW changed his mind again, and decided to tender Schoen. Now he probably will end up with what most figure a 10% raise(go figure). That puts him at 1.65 mill for 2004. Crazy, since we are already over the enormously large Payroll JR has set for us.

I honestly believe that KWs plan all along is to trade Nomar if/when he is acquired, and keep Williamson. Of course hes gonna say "We plan on keeping Nomar if we are able to acquire him." What better way to get Dan Evans to start thinking like a desperate GM? KW puts Evans in a major bind if he acquires Nomar, and then acts as if we are gonna keep him. That way, Evans breaks down and says "OK. Take Perez, Mota and Jackson. I need that marquee name here in LA." Its a mighty fierce game of Poker KW is playing, we are lucky hes not doing it against Beane or the like!!

Thanks for the last couple of years, RPS. I used to turn down Hawk and DJ to hear you guys, occasionally even dropping a line to ya. I got to meet Killa and Guido when I came up this past July from South Carolina for the KC series. Its been great, and it was appreciated more than you guys probably know. Well, if we are playin that game....I'd PREFER to turn Frank Thomas into Frank Robinson, and Willie Harris into Willie Mays.....and maybe Jose Valentin into Jose Feleciano. He could sing Feliz Navidad during the 7th inning stretch. Then turn Aaron Rowand into Aaron Spelling. He could write a cheesy team angst melodrama about the Sox. Also, we'd have to turn Sandy Alomar Jr into Sandy Duncan, who was on the show "Valerie". Oh, the possiblilities are endless!!!

Quite the moral dilemma Brett has now. OK, before anyone posts something like "Show some respect!!" or "Family comes first!!", hear me out. Brett always said the streak means nothing to him, while most of us disagree. We are all about to find out the truth tomorrow. Its a game the Packers DESPERATELY need, and a more important, tragic event has happened in the Favre family. I honestly didt see this one coming, although I'm glad it did. I was sure that KW was gonna do everything in his power to let Schoen take, and fail, in the #5 spot in our rotation. Fine by me, KW. No way in hell should we have risked paying Scott Freakin Schoeneweis $2 mill.

Welcome aboard Dsav, if I haven't said it yet. Your point is certainly a valid one. Its even more scary to think that KW says we are over budget, with these holes still on the 25 man roster. Gonna be an interesting Spring Training. I look for 2-3 of the non-tendered guys to get a shot in ST. Hopefully Redman and maybe Garcia. I could live with Buehrle, ELoz, Garland, Redman, Garcia rotation.

Redman is definately a solid #4 guy, something we currently desperately need. The only thing that scares me about him is his performance in the playoffs. Then again, for that to matter we'd have to GET to the playoffs!!
