Scott Carroll To MLB
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 10:09 AM) Petricka has one start since the start of 2013 so if Hanson isn't ready Petricka definitely isn't. I just don't think the Sox are at the mercy to choose a pitcher's debut when it is fortuitous. We have lost 60% of our rotation in the last two weeks. I don't think Hanson or Axelrod are on the 40 man. The 40 man is kind of full. I suppose they could transfer Keppinger to the 60 day and/or outright Mitchell.

WTF Happened to Keenyn Walker
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 10:44 AM) Dick, are you in favor of the Sox drafting Rodon if he's available? Absolutely, and I know where this is going. You are going to say that bonus money would be gone and there won't be enough for Rodon. But everyone assumes Rodon won't sign unless he eats up 90% of the pool money. The fact is, many posters who had to have the pick still don't want Rodon for fear he will take the bonus money of guys who have a 1 in 20 if not lower chance of making an impact. They even want to go below slot on that pick to offer lower and lesser thought of players even more.No one here knows his demands. I don't think Appel is an example of the route Rodon wants to go. In the long run, if he is anywhere as good as advertised, it will probably cost him money as his development will be behind a year, maybe more. If Appel signed with Pittsburgh he may be in the major leagues right now. Supposedly Appel turned down $6 million from the Astros in 2012, and signed for $6.35 million in 2013.

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 01:03 AM) i'm actually surprised this doesn't happen more often I can't believe Braun was doing that there. That is right at the front of the dugout. Pretty careless on his part.

WTF Happened to Keenyn Walker
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 10:12 AM) If you are planting corn, do you buy cooked and frozen corn or do you buy seeds? You buy seeds. If some of those seeds don't germinate, you get rid of them. I'm not going to patronize you anymore. You're trolling, bringing up old arguments that got threads locked which have long been buried and are moot and/or pointless anyways. If you forget about it, I'm sure the greater majority will too. Please don't patronize me. You were happy the Sox bought corn in somebody's stool when they signed Paulino. It isn't pointless. I just want to know why the 2nd round pick was considered so valuable before, but now it's "the Sox will be lucky if higher picks work out, but it's not just them it is everyone". I'm not trolling, just wanting to know why people changed their minds.

WTF Happened to Keenyn Walker
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 09:43 AM) It wasn't the argument at all. The central point of the argument was to do with the position the White Sox are in. You seem to have left that part out. The position the Sox are in is they need pitching. It was the point that was made then and the point being made now. They will always need pitching. If you are going to sign a free agent that requires compensation, and compensation freaks people out, wouldn't it be better when it's about as low as can be rather than waiting until it is about as high as can be?

WTF Happened to Keenyn Walker
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 09:34 AM) Way to rephrase the argument to something it wasn't. They see me trollin... Good one. Nice selfie. But it pretty much was the argument. Rebuilding teams don't need capable pitchers, they need draft picks which apparently aren't expected to pan out.

WTF Happened to Keenyn Walker
So we should expect supplemental draft picks to fail. We should expect #3 draft picks to fail since less than half of the #2 picks had solid careers, but in no circumstance should the White Sox have signed a player this offseason which would have caused them to surrender their second round pick. That pick is way too valuable. It doesn't add up.

NCAA basketball 2014-15 thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 08:25 PM) Damn racist Iowa City cops I don't know about other places, but Iowa City cops have been a little more gung ho about arresting athletes than they are the rest of the student body. I wouldn't say racist as they go after white athletes as well. That said, the athletes should be, and are, very aware of this. I am against drunk driving as much as anyone as one of my best friends was brain damaged for life in HS due to one. But 2:30 AM on a moped in downtown Iowa City, if he is going to hurt anyone, it is only himself. I'm thinking if it was just a Marketing major from Naperville, they would have given him a ticket for not having a flag, and illegal lane usage, and told him to walk back to his dorm and pick up his moped in the morning. It's not like Jok was trashed.

Iowa's Peter Jok arrested for driving drunk. He was on a moped and blew a .082.

2014 Cubs Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 08:52 AM) Yeah, it's really the debt service on the team, it's killing them, MLB and Cubs are trying to find a scapegoat so focus isn't on them for agreeing to and accepting the money structure they did. And when your creditors are advising you to sell, it usually doesn't end well. Again, if the problem is the rooftop owners and its nothing but $175-200 payrolls and championships once they get that straightened out, for the price of Edwin Jackson or even less, they can make them go away.

Jose Abreu general discussion
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 05:10 PM) Also, not just mistakes. He's been killing stuff at the periphery of the zone. Just awesome to watch. Price became unglued after the bunt he threw away and then when Eaton scored. Abreu almost got him the time before, but it looked like a golf ball when he did take him out. There was an east wind over 30. On a summer day with the wind blowing the other way, that may have had a shot at the concourse.

Scott Carroll To MLB
You have to figure the clock will eventually strike midnight and we will all want Carroll back in Charlotte, but if he can just get another good start or two under his belt and then Sale hopefully will be OK. I could only imagine what it must of been like to be him at the start, yet he remained very composed. There is probably a reason he is 29 and never got a shot until now, but I'm sure if he stinks it up from here on out, he will say it was worth it. When RV yanked him, he did get a standing o, and it probably was the first one he has ever received. You could see the thrill.

Jose Abreu general discussion
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 04:59 PM) He won't be worth the money, though. His power is his only tool. Sincerely, ESPN and Fangraphs They are about as bad on that as you were on Paulino.

QUOTE (Knuckles @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 03:25 PM) How has Beckham looked, I see he scored a few runs/got on base? Hit the ball hard each time except his walk . No hits but a steal and a couple of dazzlers in the field.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 03:22 PM) Josh Lueke, who is a rapist, coming into the game. He has a 4.05 ERA on the year and 0 rapes, unlike his breakout 2008 campaign. When did he get out of the joint?

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) Keep trolling. There's a huge difference between that fluke defensive inning by the Rays and our defense the past two seasons. Just showing how silly it is to blame a manager for sloppy play. I guess on here the exception would be Robin.
