  1. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) Red Sox announcers calling out umps for warning the White Sox.... All I know is if Quentin was a Red Sox and Lackey a White Sox, and that same scenerio happened, Hawk would have a very different take. Quentin hangs out over the plate. Its not like he drilled him in the back. Hawk is b****ing that the Sox pitchers aren't going to be able to throw inside, but on the other hand thinks if Sox hitters crowd the plate, the opposition shouldn't be able to throw inside either.
  2. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 05:28 PM) Manny's at-bats so far have been among the best a Sox hitter has had in years. Not since Hurt have we had a chance to watch a hitter mentally own a pitcher like Manny has. You just can't fool the guy. He's ready for anything and adjusts from pitch to pitch. That's what his former teammates mean by making all the hitters better. Yeah, Konerko hasn't had a stretch like Manny's 6 or 7 ABs in years. Get real. Manny's been good, but please.
  3. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 07:32 AM) Just realized the first game today is on the "U", I hate the U. Just had to vent. I hate the U too, but DirectTV finally made it HD. Of course, the last time the were on the U the station had a problem with its HD feed and showed it standard. I don't know if HD is a blessing or a curse. If I never had it, standard would be just fine, but its hard for me to watch anything not HD anymore.
  4. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 04:04 PM) I don't know how the hell he's doing it, I just hope he keeps it up. Hi Oney. Weren't the Sox something like 7-13 their previous 20 games before getting to play Cleveland? Isn't Cleveland pretty much an awful team? Ozzie's done a decent job, but giving him all the credit means you have to give him all the blame if things don't go as planned.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 02:15 PM) This game will not exist. Looks like a washout. Dadgumit.
  6. They obviously don't want Teahen playing 3b late with the lead.
  7. Since June 1, Paulie is hitting .350
  8. I love Paulie but the Sox really have to be careful. If they are paying him for the next 3 or 4 seasons for this year, they will ultimately regret it. 4 or 5 months ago, if someone offered the Sox anything for him and his contract, KW would have most likely jumped and no one here would have complained. He's come up huge, probably because its the best he's felt in a while. Odds of that occuring for 3 or 4 more years are probably slim, although it wouldn't shock me if he had another real big season in him after this one. If I were the GM, unless he wanted to give a huge discount from market rate both in salary and years, Paulie is in his final month or hopefully 2 in a White Sox uniform.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 07:11 AM) And you personally know what those answers were? From what was reported he was saying things like "I'll do anything they ask me to do". Obviously the answers weren't sufficient to get him in the line up and obviously the door was open for that.
  10. ''When I asked him how he felt, he didn't give the right answers,'' manager Ozzie Guillen said of his decision to give Ramirez a day to get acclimated. Yep, he's fired up and can't wait to jump into a pennant race.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 01:41 AM) Another good rip piece on Manny by Passon on the cover of yahoo. He would only speak in Spanish today, even though he has no problem with English. Cora who had to translate said he had no idea why Manny insisted on Spanish. He also intimated it was Manny's call not to play cause of the early wake up call. I'm sure he wanted Cora "translating" in case he said something that would cause problems, Joey, who I believe is an ex teammate of his, could clean it up for him, and maybe give a "White Sox" answer.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 06:52 PM) What is going on with Quentin. He's totally streaking offensively and outside of his hot streaks he's a pretty easy out and defensively he's been horrendous. I wonder if the Sox will move him this off-season since he'll be due a range. At the same time, you know the tools are there for him to just be a completely dominant offensive player. Yeah, I'd hate to give him up. He's a 45 homer guy easy if he puts it together.
  13. Generally when a guy is a bad LF, he will be a bad RF. Quentin is no exception.
  14. QUOTE (rafacosta @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) manny is not playing tomorrow bc is a 1 pm game. ozzie will say he is tired and still is on pacific time - all of this for kotsay. the reason we brought damn manny was in situation like right now...f***..cant get the damn man on 3rd with less than 2 outs. Manny wasn't going to bat for Pierre, but I do agree, he needs to be playing if for nothing else to get sharp again. He hasn't played all that much the last month and a half.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 06:46 PM) Ugh Yeah, advancing a runner to third isn't ideal for Pierre because if he hits the ball in the air, chances are the runner isn't going to score.
  16. I don't think I've ever seen Pierre loaf it.
  17. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 06:09 PM) Yeah. Cowley the lead Drama Queen looking for a "scoop". Like he's breaking some story. Whatever. If you want informed, impartial reports watch the MLB Network. Not ONE mention as to Manny not playing as anything other than a baseball decision by the manager. The Chicago media just can't wait to create some crap to generate interest and call the gulliable fanbase into controversy. This is Ozzie imposing his authority. Nothing more nothing less. You're talking Manny Ramirez and calling someone else a drama queen?
  18. Cowley said earlier that Manny was out of the line up tonight unless Manny could convince Ozzie to play him.If he is too tired to start I would think be would only get more tired watching the game fromthe side and by th time th 8th or 9th inning rolled around he would be in no condition to pinch hit.Send him back to the hotel to sleep, and hopefully he wakes up in time to play tomorrow.
  19. I would think if the guy was fully motivated and excited to be in playoff contentoin,c flying in fiirst class for 4.5 hours would not keep him out of the line up. This, Imo, isnt going to go well.
  20. QUOTE (WinorDie88 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) Wasn't there someone better than Torres in Charlotte to call up? He looks to have no promising ability whatsoever Of course not. He's 27 or 28 years old.
  21. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) dylanohernandez Colletti said the #Dodgers were willing to pay the #WhiteSox as much as $1.5MM for a prospect. Probably Mitchell.
  22. AJ pulled his glove up, if the other catcher did that Hawk would tell you that meant the pitch was low.
  23. This reminds me of a spring training game.
