BTW I was at the gym watching the game earlier so I couldn't post, but kudos to DJ for not caving in to Hawk's insistance that Overbay swung when he got hit by a pitch. If they said a White Sox player swung with the exact same play how would be b****ing about the umpiring the rest of the day.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 02:51 PM) It's amazing to me that no one has lost their job so far this year. This team is bad, and sucks in virtually every aspect possible. I bet the Yankees are going to be scared of facing Day, Prinz, and Buckvich this week. Its ego. We have a couple of guys with huge egos making roster decisions, and they have a hard time admitting they were as wrong as you can be.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 02:48 PM) CURRENT UP TO DATE STATS FOR THE BULLPEN THIS ROAD TRIP!!!!! 14.2 IP 24 Hits 15 Runs 15 ER 10 Walks 80 Batters Faced .343 Opponents BA .425 Opponents OBP GO BULLPEN!!! If the Sox lose today, they will be 1-6 on the roadtrip, and will have had the lead in all but 1 game. It is amazing to me the lack of action with the bullpen.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) How about some predictions for this inning? - Thome vs Downs: 3-2 fastball taken for a strike....Thome starts jogging to first - Dye vs righty: gets up 3-1 in count, chases ball 4, and then pops up to center - Konerko pops up 2nd pitch, does suicide shrug. You're way off. Thome swings and misses strike 3.

Has DJ secrety become Tim McCarver? He's talking about how if Day can locate his pitches on the corners he could be effective for an inning. Wow, really?

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) Cooper should have been fired after last year....but it sounds like Tim Raines was the scapegoat for our disasterous 2nd half last season. Looks like it was all Raines' fault. I hope the smugness is off of KW's face right now. He really has had a couple of bad offseasons in a row now. Nice play by Owens. Good seeing our minor league instructors are teaching the game properly.

If its Walker's fault the offense sucks, why wouldn't it be Cooper's fault the bullpen sucks? 2 baseball geniuses, 2 guys who know more about winning and good players than anyone else in the universe, KW and Ozzie, said the bullpen was one of the best in the game coming into this season. They have to be either at the bottom or right next to it now. Coop can't fix 'em.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 02:26 PM) How about: Call up Fields, Prinz, Bukvich, Vasquez Send down Aardsma, Day, Masset to be a AAA starter, DL MacDougal The papers say MacDougal has options left. Why DL him? Let him go walk AAA hitters in Charlotte.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 02:25 PM) Masset gets closer to the 8.00 ERA and will most likely be starting in AAA next week. But he's better than McCarthy or so soxtalk says

One Bullpen Fix
According to the Sun-Times and Tribune, MacDougal does have options left. I know a few people here said he doesn't so they Sox really couldn't demote him, but really if someone wanted to pick up his entire contract, why not just let them? If he does have options and Aardsma does as well, the fact that they have not been sent down yet really is indicative of KW's boast of pitching "depth" being total BS. I really don't care who they bring up or trade for to replace them, I just hope its someone who will ocassionally feel throwing a strike might be a good idea. These 2 need to be removed from the roster.

I can't blame Ozzie anymore....this is ALL on Kenny
2005 shows you the importance of having a strong bullpen. That bullpen was amazing. A lot of people thought Vicaino sucked, but his 2005 performance would make him a star on this year's team. Politte and Cotts were sensational. Shingo struggled, but he was 8 for 9 in save opportunities before losing the closer role and did help win a couple of games before falling apart again. Hermanson was unbelievable and when his back finished him Jenks didn't miss a beat. KW built the pitching staff back then from back to front. He does the opposite now. The current bullpen, I don't know how many times they are going to have to be brutal to convince everyone, sucks. When the Sox won it all, they didn't blow too many leads in games. Once they got ahead, the game was over. Not anymore. KW ignored the bullpen after 2005 and while I give him credit for at least doing something, went cheap on it after it showed its weaknesses in 2006. He is paying the price now.

The Greg Walker Lynch mob thread
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 04:43 PM) So are we 0-47 or 0-50 against relievers right now? I know we didn't get a hit after the third inning today. Walker wasn't at Saturday's game.

Zambrano is nuts!!
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 09:55 AM) he went for stitches. He also has at least 1 black eye, another report says 2. Considering he chased after Zambrano, it doesn't appear he fared very well.

White Sox vs. Blue Jays, 6/02/07 (L)
Greg Walker wll miss today's game to attend his daughter's high school graduation. The Sox will score 10 runs minimum in his absence.

Zambrano is nuts!!
I love sweet Lou. Remember when he went at it with Dibble when they were with the Reds?
-
Erstad hurt
I wouldn't say "just a sprain". Sprains can be pretty bad.

Zambrano is nuts!!
QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) He walked off the field, and went into the dugout and had a few words with Barrett, and then just took a swing at him and they started going after each other. Barrett was just protecting himself. Zambrano was getting rocked, I guess he just snapped. His market value is going DOWN!! If they could sign him, I'd trade any pitcher on the White Sox for him.
-
Zambrano is nuts!!
Maybe Zambrano "bonded" with AJ when they shot that commercial together.
-
Zambrano is nuts!!
QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) I couldn't believe what I was seeing. He f***ing took a shot at him right in the dugout, theyy had to break him and Barrett up. He is a f***ing nut job!! And we think the Sox have problems!! hahahaha He's nuts but so is Barrett.

And so the Rowand nonsense begins...
QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 09:55 AM) Rowand could actually have a positive effect on Crede-they were close. Its a move that could be a benefit-we do have bullpen pitchers to send them that we could replace. Why would that be? Crede has his best season with Rowand in Philadelphia.

Erstad hurt
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 31, 2007 -> 10:36 PM) FoxSports Link Um, you also missed the few weeks Thome missed, and according to the stats, at the time he went down, he was generating more runs/game than any other player in baseball, Bonds and ARod included. Well he's back and the've lost 5 in a row.
-
Erstad hurt
Detroit loses Kenny Rogers, Zumaya, and Rodney and they still keep winning. Minnesota is struggling a bit but has a payroll many millions below the White Sox, they lose Liriano and Mauer and kick the Sox ass. The Sox get the back-up catcher hurt, Pablo Ozuna hurt and a $1 million guarantee player like Erstad injured who gets hurt every year, and Pods another perrenial injury is out and they look like they may just prove BP's 72-90 PECOTA projection correct. If the Sox fail this year, injuries shouldn't be an excuse.
