Freddy Garcia Thread
QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 08:11 AM) Garcia is now fessing up that his shoulder has been bothering him since spring training. Fastball peaking in the mid 80's. He has been trying to gut it out in Philly but it's not happening. This is why he was traded. Sox felt he had lots of wear and tear and his best days were behind him. Its obvious something was wrong with him, but the Sox traded him because his contract was expiring and they wanted to make room in the rotation for McCarthy, now Danks, or even Floyd. If you recall, they claimed Freddy's velocity loss was due to the playoffs and WBC and that he'd be back at 94 mph in 2007. I can't believe they believed that and that a lot of people believed that. Anyway, Freddy was pretty bad last year until he started throwing gems in September, but you knew that was a mirage. As to the trade itself, I liked it at the time, although if the comments from Philadelphia are accurate, its obvious if KW wanted more from them he could have gotten it. I mean if you got nothing back for a guy who is making $10,000,000 in the final year of his contract, who is 1-5 with a 5.90 ERA and has a sore arm, its a good trade. I think the problem a lot of people have with it is it could have been even better. I like Gio as much as anyone, but he is in AA. Floyd is bad, there really is no way else to describe him. Its possible the Sox get no major league help from the deal.

Anyone know who Jerry Krause is working for now? I just took the elevator down with him. Man does he breathe heavy.

Paris Hilton out of jail?
Can't do the time, don't do the crime. Wasn't this a probation violation? Maybe if anyone ever enforced rules with her, she wouldn't think they don't apply to her. Make her stay the entire time. It actually may make her a better person.

Bullpen
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 01:35 PM) any word on how mac or sisco is doing down in AAA Who cares. If they can't throw a strike at USCF, I couldn't care less if the strike everyone out in AAA.

And That's A White Sox Loser
KW put together a solid bullpen. I'm sure many of them will be headed to the All Star Game in San Francisco this year to throw at the home run derby.

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) We need to just quit using the pen. Guys back in the '40s threw 150-160 pitches a game. Time for these boys to earn their money. Contreras remembers those days I'm sure.

I think Josh Fields might swing and miss at 25 in a row against Rivera.

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 10:28 PM) I agree, keep Prinz but keep all former Royals at Charlotte! f*** AAA lets go to AA! Prinz sucks. Its a shame the Sox have him on the roster. Its outrageous if KW and Ozzie still think this is a championship calibur team. Its loaded with minor leaguers, even with mediocre major leaguers on the DL.

White Sox vs Yankees, 6/7/07 (L)
If KW and Ozzie and JR and Reifert and all the rest of them aren't totally embarrassed right now, shame on them. They had such an opportunity to take over this city, and pissed it away.

Don't even bother sending this guy back to Charlotte. Give him a ticket home.

That was tough to predict. If Walker must go, he should take Cooper with him.

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 10:09 PM) they spent 60 mill over 5 years on paulie walnuts. that was a dumb move. sure, i didnt want to see our ALCS mvp and franchise player leave after winning the world series, but 60 was too much money Letting him walk then would have really been a black eye for the franchise just when they reached the pinnacle. Sometimes you have to go out on a limb which they did with him. The contract is probably too long, but I really can't fault them for giving it to him.

For a team with a payroll over $100 million, the Sox sure do have a lot of guys who really are below average.

White Sox vs Yankees, 6/7/07 (L)
It would be nice to rally here but if they do they better get the lead so Ozzie will use Jenks. If they just tie it or get within a run, the rest of the bullpen would have to hold them.

Something has to be done. Bringing up Charlotte Knights or Birmingham Barons isn't the answer.

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 09:44 PM) Yeah, I can imagine the season ticket holders reacting well to the trades of Konerko, Iguchi, Crede and Dye coming into this season. I don't think season ticketholders are liking this brand of ball. I am one, but not a bandwagoner. There will be quite a few jumping ship after this season if it continues like this. If no star power is added, you'll get a nice view of the green seats on your flatscreens in 2008.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 09:47 PM) I don't care if its AJ, but Ozzie needs to put a guy at the top of the order that actually gets on base. If Owens must play, bat him 8th or 9th. Yes.

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 09:42 PM) Loiaza at least had something of a successful track record in the earlier part of his career, and he always had good stuff...it was just that adding the cutter in 2003 made him an All-Star caliber pitcher. He was always pretty mediocre, but your right, his "stuff" was always was highly regarded. His cutter was great in 2003, but while he's been serviceable when healthy, he's never been lights out like that season. He lost how many 1-0 or 2-1 games or he would have had one of the greatest records in the last 50 years that season. I don't care if its AJ, but Ozzie needs to put a guy at the top of the order that actually gets on base. If Owens must play, bat him 8th or 9th.
